Cute little game, perfectly made for handheld. Controls are good, no slowdowns. Technically solid. Imho it has much charm and very high quality. What i dont get is why people think this would be different game, just because its on Switch now...and downrate it on that. So i ask: did you cry when an old movie was redone/changed just for a new medium? I guess not...

I'd originally played this on Wii U. The levels are fun to play through, and there is a great variety of stages to work through, so it was an easy enough decision to get this again. No one is forcing a person to re-buy a port so I don't really see why some people get so upset when they do so.

Perhaps a 3rd book would have been a welcome addition to add into this port but there is enough variety and number of stages that lack of new content shouldn't be much of a deal breaker, perhaps we can hold out hope that they will offer DLC in form of a 3rd book or make a sequel in future, for now we can enjoy the Mario Odyssey themed level additions. its about 40% less than the cost of most other titles on Switch. This game was never offered as a full priced title even back when it was on Wii U and for the cost of the game I'd say you get a decent amount of content included for what you are spending on the game.

I'd recommend playing this game either with a pro-controller or handheld, since controlling the camera with the second joy-con can be awkward given its placement, and the amount of camera adjusting you'll do in this game. Using the gyroscope sensor to manipulate the puzzle aspects of each level was an easy enough work around since we no longer have a touch pad in docked mode.

I just can't believe Captain Toad only got 8 here....I will give 100 for it's really surprisingly percet level design.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a very nice, well thought unique game. A must buy for everyone loving puzzle games. Mind that this it the Wii U version with some extra levels. In my opinion very strange to downvote a game just because its at 3 different systems (3DS, WiiU, Switch)

This game is really fun. It does not change that much from the Wii U game, but the extra content is amazing. The mechanics used in this game are great since you can't jump but their are other ways to get around. I definitely recommend buying this game.

I enjoyed this so much on the Wii U that i bought it again on the Switch. It's just a beautiful, well crafted game that highlights what Nintendo does best. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but i was sold. Twice!

A collection of fun inventive puzzles with colourful and polished graphics and a cute story make this an instant classic. The diorama style levels make this perfect for handheld play, each with interesting mechanics and secrets to discover. At a lower price than most Nintendo games this game delivers a lot of value with some great DLC offering even more levels.

This game is unique and fun at the same time. The puzzles are challenging and engaging. Though I hope there are more Super Mario Odyssey levels. You never seen a game like this before, and Nintendo did a phenomenal job on this game.

The game is so much fun. The level design is varied and beautiful. The game mechanics are simple but the designers have done so much with the simple building blocks. It's amazing how much is packed into each tiny level.

While the smaller than usual length may put off some at first, the adorable art style, great visuals, addictive gameplay, good music, great level design, and excellent premise makes this one of the best spin-offs ever made by Nintendo.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker just brings a smile to my face. There is nothing else like it. It's fun, slow-paced but thoughtful, 3-D puzzle platforming at it's best. Nintendo delivers once again. My only complaint is that the motion control target eye could be smoother and work better. Other than that, this game gets a big thumbs up from me.

Game looks good and there are always different puzzles that are challenging, fun, and engaging! This may be a port, but there is a bonus book which has puzzles based off of scenes from Super Mario Odyssey which is really neat. I dislike that the books have the same story line where Toad gets stolen then Toadette and back to Toad. It is just a repetitive storyline. An absolutely lovely little puzzle game that anyone can enjoy. Every level is its own little world, meticulously crafted by the developers, reminiscent of a little terrarium. I find myself coming back to this game regularly when I want to relax and work a simple puzzle or two before bed. Perfect for cozy nights inside with blankets and a cup of tea.

Mario games have this way of legitimately making me smile. And by smile, I don’t mean a metaphorical smile, like his games simply make me happy, I mean I actually find myself grinning like an idiot. Though I’m mainly referring to the main line Mario games like Odyssey and Galaxy, and most of the Paper Mario games. Their wholesomeness and charm never fail to make me feel like a child again.

Captain Toad is the first sideline Mario game to produce that same, childlike happy feeling in me. It’s infinitely satisfying to guide the adorable little pairing of Toad and Toadette through a series of perils to get to each and every star, and that happy dance they make when you do always have me a warm little happy feeling.

This game has great puzzle design, and I had tremendous fun discovering each and every new level, but I gave this an 8 because there isn't much replay value, the controls are awkward on the levels where you're running across platforms instead of solving puzzles, sometimes the camera feels awkward, and the narrative doesn't really give you anything. To extrapolate on that last point, I know Mario narratives are traditionally simple: Bowser kidnaps princess to marry her because Bowser wants to be king, or whatever reasons Nintendo happens to give him for that game, but at least there's usually just enough there to explain why you're running through the stages and collecting stuff, but Captain Toad doesn't even give you the bare minimum. There's a bird, the bird kidnaps Toadette and steals a star for reasons, and there are other stars, and you're collecting stars because you're a Treasure Tracker I guess judging by the title of the game, and you collect them arbitrarily on your way to save Toadette from the bird (spoiler?: and this reapeats itself in the second episode, where the bird kidnaps Toad, and you play as Toadette traveling to save Toad, and then there's a third episode where you alternate between Toad and Toadette trying to find each other after getting separated again). I mean, in previous games you're usually collecting stars to power something that will get you somewhere or allow you to go somewhere, and it's never the important part of the game, but it does at least motivate the action of the game and give you a reason to be exploring the brilliantly designed levels. This time around, you're just doing it for the sake of doing it. And that's not bad at all. I still had tremendous fun with this game. But I still do wish there was just a little more there.

Anyways, I loved Treasure Tracker, it's adorable, infinitely charming, and smartly designed.

Soundtrack is nice, albeit repetitive, but it packs a few cozy and entertaining songs. Sound design goes without saying, since Nintendo always knocks it out of the park on this aspect. Graphics feel "comfortable" and safe, waving from deliciously built levels and some very simple moments, that warmed my heart.

Still, there are a few things to dislike here. The camera, although mostly 'ok', can become a pain. Controls can feel a little bit stiff, sometimes. Some levels are unnecessarily "big" and this Switch version, overall, might just outstay its welcome. "Boo" levels seem to always drop the ball and the "special" and "bonus" levels lack the variety and creativity from regular chapters. Also, the game is way better when played by couch co-op, since a few stages feel like they were exclusively built for it.

But the bad aspects of this game does not outweighs the good ones. This is a very accessible, well-crafted and beautifully designed product. It may not be perfect or super creative all the way through, but it's totally worth it.

Overall, Treasure Tracker is a real gem of a game. It’s also beautiful; I was stunned by it on Wii U, but the visuals have only gotten better on Switch. It’s bright, cheery, and wildly creative from an aesthetic standpoint. Each stage is like a diorama, making the game feel like the player is interacting with toys, rather than lines of code. The soundtrack isn’t especially varied, likely because most stages don’t require a lot of time to beat, but I’d have appreciated a few more tracks to spice things up.
