Aug 13, 2023Charming and overall fun. The game can be a little repetitive, especially when bosses are the same

Sep 6, 2022Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a cute little puzzle game. Each level is fun, individual and offers a little challenge. One point of criticism, however, is the implementation of the touch elements, which makes you realize that the game is actually a Wii U game. Otherwise, the game is great!

Jun 20, 2022A collection of fun inventive puzzles with colourful and polished graphics and a cute story make this an instant classic. The diorama style levels make this perfect for handheld play, each with interesting mechanics and secrets to discover. At a lower price than most Nintendo games this game delivers a lot of value with some great DLC offering even more levels.

Aug 12, 2021An absolutely lovely little puzzle game that anyone can enjoy. Every level is its own little world, meticulously crafted by the developers, reminiscent of a little terrarium. I find myself coming back to this game regularly when I want to relax and work a simple puzzle or two before bed. Perfect for cozy nights inside with blankets and a cup of tea.

Jan 29, 2022Fun game, but ultimately short and kind of forgettable. The new content isn't anything to write home about either.

Jan 15, 2022One of the best Mario Spinoffs I've played. It's very fun, but it's a shame you can beat it so fast.

Jan 2, 2022This is just a nice little game. I love the tone, the visuals, the levels (especially the minecart ones and the odyssey ones) and basically everything.

Oct 17, 2021Fun, relaxing game. Works well with a younger co-op partner. One unforgivable issue with the game is that the on-screen prompt displayed when using the wheel/crank frequently obstructs your view completely. This usually occurs at difficult spots like during the dragon levels, which are already hard to orient yourself.

Feb 1, 2021I enjoyed this so much on the Wii U that i bought it again on the Switch. It's just a beautiful, well crafted game that highlights what Nintendo does best. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but i was sold. Twice!

Dec 21, 2020I want to like this game more. It’s charming, just really repetitive, not challenging and lacks variety.

Nov 5, 2020The game is beautiful! Best performance on hands...
Moderate challenge for any players. -
Aug 23, 2020cute little handheld game. very relaxing and fun to play. the dlc they added was pretty sick. it's a little repetitive but that's not necessarily a bad thing if you love the puzzles

CD-ActionOct 25, 2018Main principles of all 80 levels are similar, but thanks to dozens of ideas introduced to spice up the gameplay there is no room for boredom in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. [09/2018, p.65]

Nintendo Force MagazineSep 5, 2018Worth playing if you missed it in 2014, but this Switch port is disappointing and not its best version. [Issue #35 – September/October 2018, p. 62]

Aug 10, 2018Overall, Treasure Tracker is a real gem of a game. It’s also beautiful; I was stunned by it on Wii U, but the visuals have only gotten better on Switch. It’s bright, cheery, and wildly creative from an aesthetic standpoint. Each stage is like a diorama, making the game feel like the player is interacting with toys, rather than lines of code. The soundtrack isn’t especially varied, likely because most stages don’t require a lot of time to beat, but I’d have appreciated a few more tracks to spice things up.
