Nov 7, 2017BUTCHER is an incredibly slick and deliciously violent twin stick shooter that's found a perfect home on the Nintendo Switch. It's mobile friendly, thanks to the minute levels, and it runs like a dream on the hybrid console. If you're expecting something a little different, BUTCHER isn't it. But there's no way in hell you'll be disappointed with what's on offer here. It's a twin stick shooter to die for.

Oct 10, 2017Butcher commits to it's ultraviolent nihilistic aesthetic completely and if you’ve the stomach for it, it’s a hell of a ride. Every piece from the fast-paced movement and gunplay to the thick atmosphere of the levels and music combines to form an immensely challenging action game where every death just begs you to take another stab. If you have a nihilistic bone in your body and an appetite for fast-paced challenging action - Butcher will satisfy.

Oct 4, 2017Butcher is violent, fun, frantic, crazy…etc. It’s short, but a good play for the value. There are a good amount of options available, and it’s definitely got heart (granted, it’s dripping in blood). If you’re into the Doom series, or you’ve played other games like Quake, this game is definitively in that vein.

Oct 1, 2017To answer our initial question, then: yes, BUTCHER is a great game to play if you have that DOOM itch, as well as being a great game in its own right. It feels fantastic to play; your movement and shooting feel wonderfully responsive and every trigger press is immensely satisfying. It could have been better with more content, and Handheld mode doesn’t feel quite as impressive as TV mode, but for the price you can’t really go wrong with what is an enjoyable game that does ultimately do a lot of things right. Maybe one for those who like their games on the more challenging side – give it a chance if you’re brave enough.

Oct 9, 2017If you're not among the faint-hearted, download Butcher. It'll test your wits, reflexes and ability to stomach some gore, and is easy to pick up and get stuck into from the start. If you get frustrated at games being too hard, though, perhaps it's worth sharpening those reflexes elsewhere before taking Butcher on.

Oct 2, 2017Butcher is a shamelessly gratuitous, brilliantly difficult platform shooter that completely took me by surprise. It’s the single-player blood-soaked cross between Towerfall and Doom I never knew I wanted and am now glad I own.
