  • Summary: Things are about to get… bloody! Soak up 42 pulse-pounding levels dripping with Lovecraftian atmosphere as you battle your way through armies of sycophantic cultists, zombies, gargoyles, hell hounds, and other insatiable horrors, in your quest to defeat the loathsome Tchernobog.

Aside from a few technical hiccups (on Switch at least), Blood: Refreshed Supply is another solid console port of a stone-cold classic from the masters of the remaster at Night Dive studios. What’s most impressive, though, is how well Blood holds up. Much like the horror movies that inspired it, Blood is just as silly and violent as it ever was, but it’s also a masterclass of tight level design, an arsenal of satisfying and strange weaponry, and some of the biggest booms in gaming. If you’re the kind of sicko that loves a good retro shooter, Blood: Refreshed Supply is worth the sweat and occasional tears.

Blood: Refreshed Supply brings back a lesser known yet excellent classic FPS, now enhanced with numerous quality-of-life improvements that can be customized for players who prefer to stick with the original nostalgic experience. With plenty of stages and secrets to discover, it’s a guaranteed good time both for newcomers looking to explore the title and for veterans of the classic created by Monolith.

Blood: Refreshed Supply is Blood with a bit more Blood, and I’ve always got time for Blood. I’m happy to see it on console, but that feeling’s been tempered by the introduction of significant bugs and a questionable value prospect. It’s a shame I can’t be completely positive because there are welcome improvements. With some patching up and marking down, this could be the definitive experience Nightdive wants it to be.
