An NES game based on those two bodacious dudes of movie fame? Excellent!!!

History has been all screwed up and only the San Dimas Duo can set things straight. Ride the Power Phone Booth to six different worlds. Search for famous Historical Dudes through space and time.

Its a bodacious, mind-boggling role-playing adventure. And your only chance to save the world and earn the respect you deserve.

BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT GAMEBOY ADVENTURE A BOGUS JOURNEY:

A world without our most excellent compatriots Bill and Ted? No way! Yes way - if the Grim Reaper and the evil Bill and Ted robots get their way!

DeNomolos wants to totally change the future, and the only way to stop this most heinous dude is to travel though the "circuits of time" and collect the stolen time fragments! 10 adventures - 50 quests.

I hate to say it, but as it currently stands, this is not a worthwhile purchase — I can’t even recommend this to fans of the original movie because it’s still just as unplayable as it was all those years ago. I can only recommend Bill & Ted’s Excellent Retro Collection to those who, like me, were haunted by Bill & Ted’s Excellent Video Game Adventure and want to utilize the newly implemented save states to finally have a shot at finishing the game. But if Limited Run Games releases an update later with the maps? It might be a little less bogus then.

What an odd pair of games to re-release, no doubt trying to cash in on the relevance brought by the third Bill & Ted movie (two years late,What an odd pair of games to re-release, no doubt trying to cash in on the relevance brought by the third Bill & Ted movie (two years late, that is).

The Game Boy game is a decent enough puzzle platformer. A series of single screen levels where you collect items, avoid enemies and get to the exit. The NES game is an adventure game that has some interesting ideas, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Most of the game will be spent wandering large samey maps, blindly jumping into background objects, hoping to find items necessary to progress.

I'm all for weird releases like this, but the lack of effort is quite evident. The emulation itself is fine, but barely the bare minimum features are present: a single CRT filter, three screen size options, a handful of borders, the option to save and quit the game. The (by now) standard rewind, button mapping and save state features are completely absent. There is no bonus material to speak of, no box and manual scans, development materials or anything. A music player is included, so you can sample the games' sparse offerings. ANY type of instructions would have been a welcome addition, especially with how obtuse the NES game is. It's not a great game to begin with, but just being dropped into it completely blind won't do it any favors either.
