Loved the first one. This one is different but also great. The only thing that I missed was some sort of Trace cameo.

Amazing game! Great level design and combat and story! I absolutely adore the pixel art look, one of my favorite metroidvanias of recent memory!

Jogo mudou um pouco a mecânica e está com mais interações entre personagem principal é npcs, a personagem tem muitos mistérios com ela , e o jogo deixa uma névoa de dívidas como no anterior, até o momento está ótimo! Parabéns a Tomás Happ!

I loved the 1st one, the second one didn't disappoint either. I will say I beat the game in 13 hours but you can beat it in 4 hours or so, based on watching streamers play it.. I do have one bug that was f*%# annoying the character model would get stuck and I couldn't attack.

Worth successor to the original. One of the best metroidvanias I've ever played.

I liked this game, it's definitely worth a play, especially after playing the first one. The new RPG upgrade system is a fine addition if only to give you more things to find.
The exploration is this game's strongest side, it pulls you in really well and it never lets go, but sadly while exploration is an upgrade from the first game, everything else isn't.

It's not like the combat or the few bosses that there are aren't functional, but they feel way too easy and nowhere near the first game exciting combat. On its own, it is a great game, but measured up to the first one it feels like it's inferior as a whole package.
I hope the next installments of this series are going to expand on other systems as well as this one did on the exploration.

AV2 is that rare kind of game that so enthralls me and hooks me right away, that I can't stop playing it until I beat it. I beat it in just under two days, I was so enamoured with the art, the music, and the world.

Without wishing to spoil here's the highlights: A terrific story with interesting characters throughout, framed as a sort of sequel, inbetween-quel before AV1. The exploration is fun and challening. The movement feels great. It's more Castlevania than Metroid this time around, but I still loved what it was trying to do.

Bad parts: The combat is unweildy and awful. Thankfully it's almost entirely optional! The "chase the villain who is always one step ahead of you" trope is exhausting and dull.

    I give it a solid 8.5/10.

I really loved the game as a metroidvania genre fan. Keeps you addicted until the end. The only little let down is that there aren’t but a few bosses and you can’t die, so no real challenge, just the addiction of completing everything. Loved the music as usual, just the volume of the special effects are really loud, a little bit everything in general. Game’s a little too short as well.

As many have said, this game is unorthodox. Very few bosses, a shift in tone and gameplay style from the first Axiom Verge. But having played AV2 first it is still a succinct and phenomenal experience with some really clever puzzles.

If you go in expecting AV1 redux, you'll almost certainly be disappointed, but this game includes many quality of life improvements over the first, while being generally more polished, more well balanced in difficulty, and with a plot that feels more professional and easier to take serious. The writing hits some divine notes in playing on sci-fi metaphysical identity distortion.

If you go in expecting at face value, a good metroidvania, leaning vania, you will be blown out of the water by the game's soundtrack and atmosphere that really show strides of improvement over the first game. The first game was good, but taken by it's own merit, AV2 is a slice of the sublime.

I think this game is being very wronged. As a metroidvania fan, I found this game amazing. I loved the art, the innovative soundtrack with a real singer, loved the upgrades and even loved getting lost until I found the next goal. With the exception of the map navigation sound, everything about this game delighted me. 10.

Amazing game. Better than the first one in many ways. Only thing really lacking is boss fights.

Loved it. The world design is brilliant and the interplay between the main world and the breach is a real mindbleep. There's lots of fun in the end game trying to figure out how you can get to different places in these two worlds. And the aesthetics are great. There's things going on in the background of this game that I guarantee you haven't seen before. It's excellent. Give it a try.

A good metroidvania and a good game. I particularly found very creative the way the gameplay forces you to use the two maps together.

It only disappoints when you start comparing it to its predecessor, particularly on the boss fights that I enjoyed more on the old game. And the fact that the new game adds an upgrade system makes it worse: Near the end I had some upgrade points that I

It only disappoints when you start comparing it to its predecessor, particularly on the boss fights that I enjoyed more on the old game. And the fact that the new game adds an upgrade system makes it worse: Near the end I had some upgrade points that I was saving to decide on what to use after being defeated the first time by the final boss, but I defeated him in the first attempt.

History is great, very creative indeed, although I wished more to see the continuation of the history of the first game protagonist. Maybe if this was the first game and the older one the sequel it would be better, but there is no time machine available to fix that.

Axiom Verge 2 offers an extraordinarily beautiful, coherent and original world, but sometimes exploration gets tedious and some mechanics and design choices get in the way of experiencing this intriguing setting. It is a unique game in a way, but I feel that it shouldn’t have sacrificed some elements on the altar of originality. [11/2021, p.46]

Axiom Verge 2 is an unexpected and greatly enjoyable evolution of the first game, more focused on exploration than combat. It's the second step in Thomas Happ's ambitious sci-fi universe.

Axiom Verge 2 is amazing. Many have tried to make games that can work as light entertainment and heavy, honest stories about their own lives at the same time. Few have succeeded as well as this one. [Issue #55 – October 2021, p. 19]
