    Astral Chain is a game I really looked forward to playing. I just finished it and I must say it's pretty boring. The story is nothing special, and the combat is slow. The two worst issues are the camera, and the controls. As for the story it just goes way too over the top, and I was laughing all the way to the end. It was the "Black Knight always triumphs," kind of boss fights. Sekiro hadAstral Chain is a game I really looked forward to playing. I just finished it and I must say it's pretty boring. The story is nothing special, and the combat is slow. The two worst issues are the camera, and the controls. As for the story it just goes way too over the top, and I was laughing all the way to the end. It was the "Black Knight always triumphs," kind of boss fights. Sekiro had the same boss fight and it wears thin.

    The things I loved about the game is the chimera a creature from the astral plain one can used to fight in battles and solve puzzles. I did a great majority of the side quests. But the game kept dragging on. There are more than ten side quests to each file/chapter, and the chapters are too long. The astral plain is nothing to think about, and only looks cool when it invades the main world. The music is nothing special and considering it was made by the same team that made Nier, this is disappointing.

    There were many mechanics I did not enjoy including the aerial bosses, I can't jump so there is only one way to take them out is with arrows. The other is the tap, tap, teleport monsters/boss fights. This is really annoying when the camera spins like a tornado. There are many times when my character can't defend himself so he just gets pummeled into submission. I can do nothing because my chimera gauge has to fill. When the gauge fills the chimera will defend the character if knocked out.

    The graphics are nothing special either it reminds me of the cartoon design from Borderlands. Overall this game is fun, and I would recommend just playing the main story for the quick play through. If you are a completionist, you are in for a boring ride. I give this game a 8/10.    … Expand

    With most new franchises, I try to keep my expectations realistic. I'll usually give them a shot, but withhold my opinion until the game 'turns a corner' (i.e. passes a point of greatness where I can't contain my enthusiasm anymore). THIS GAME IS FREAKING AMAZING. Aesthetically, mechanically, and narratively. Wildly original, beautiful, and fun as hell. A masterpiece.

    Juegazo. Batallas increibles, jugabilidad super original con las legiones, luce bastante bien tanto en tv como en portatil. Ningun tiron que yo alla percibido, se mantienen estables los fps. Candidato a GOTY y seguramente a mejor juego en su estilo.

    This is probably platinum's second best game after nier automata. It gets a lot of things right and is easily one of the best games to release this year.

    I am very surprised that i haven't review this game yet when i just beat it 1 month ago, but what can i say about this game. Well, this game is perfection in every detail: music, story, gameplay, graphics... The people in Platinum Games are really masterminds, i'm so ready for what's next from them.

    Очень бодрый слешер-экшн с отличным стилем, прекрасными шортиками, шикарнейшей музыкой и пафосным сюжетом. Одна из лучших игр в этом году, которой совсем чуть-чуть не хватило до 10 и лучшая игра Platinum.

    10/10 game, this game is a masterpiece except for 1 Con, and that is 30 fps, other than that I would rate this on equal terms as Nier:Automata and below Bayonetta, Platinum are gonna need to do something special to outdo this game with bayonetta 3

    The game provides a very fun and interesting story, while the side missions might feels a bit awkward at times they are still fun. The game has a lot of potential and if a second game would be made I can see it even being better.

    2 "problems" the game has in my opinion: first of all it might be a bit overwhelming for some people to control both your legion and your char. but you get used to this. ! (Do not give up) The other is that sometimes when having to move through moving platforms it might be a bit tricky. But these are minor problems in my personal opinion.

    the game has 30 fps and performance really really well on the switch no issue's at all. This game deserves a sequel but ffor that to happen we will need to wait for the next gen console of Nintendo. Astral Chain Runs amazing but I do believe that it is also pushes the switch to it's max.

    fantastic graphics, game play and music. Story leaves a bit to be desired and the ending leaves you on edge and not so satisfied. Other than that the most of the game is superb. Looking forward to what else platinum has up their sleeve!

    Teniendo en cuenta el Hardware de Switch su apartado artístico y grafico es simplemente de 10, innovador, fresco y atractivo es justamente lo que hacía falta en el género de las Hack and slash de un tiempo para acá.
    Seguramente ya hay mil reseñas y análisis por doquier, pero yo quiero hablar de algo que no muy a menudo se comenta en estos análisis,
    La diversión.
    Es un juego sumamente adictivo y divertido, que te engancha desde el primer momento y te invita a seguir adelante con su historia que si bien es cierto tiene algunos clichés. Es sumamente entretenida y divertida, personajes carismáticos que te llenan de risas en sus momentos de fama y ciertamente desarrollas empatía por ellos.
    En cuanto a gráficos y cuestiones técnicas no es perfecto, pero ¿a quien le importa si esto te divierte? Y aun, así como dije al principio es majestuoso. No necesita 60 FPS está perfecto a 30 ya que combina barios géneros aparte del Hack and Slash. Como roles de investigación, plataformas, puzles y demás.

    Una compra obligada para cualquier usuario de Switch y para terminar quiero dar mis Felicitaciones a la Página de Metacritic por haber visto la oleada de estupidez que inundo las reseñas poniendo cero de calificación a este título solo por no aparecer en su amado y sobrevalorado PS4. ¿tan difícil es jugar y dejar jugar a los demás?     Super game. Really love adventure fighting games since childhood. The cyberpunk world is perfect, combat system awesome. Really in last god of war game I like the combat less. The combat mechanics incredibly interesting Story is also good. Switch is perfect console returns me to my childhood of nes. I love ps4 games but switch last two years produce high quality exclusives

    I was excited for this game since its reveal and platinum games outdid themselves for this game. The combat is very strategic with how you fight and very different from bayonetta and nier automata. combat is very flowing and there is a lot of strategizing that goes into combat.     Aside from a sometimes repetitive combat system, Astral Chain’s combat is simple but a visually spectacular scene. The controls are easy to get used to. It’s platforming and traversal is for the most part interesting and easy aside from chain jumping which sometimes leads to falling to your death. The cutscenes of which there are many are backed with amazing visuals and great voice workAside from a sometimes repetitive combat system, Astral Chain’s combat is simple but a visually spectacular scene. The controls are easy to get used to. It’s platforming and traversal is for the most part interesting and easy aside from chain jumping which sometimes leads to falling to your death. The cutscenes of which there are many are backed with amazing visuals and great voice work and they never took me out of the story apart from how the mouthing is out of sync with the words. The score is beyond amazing. Not only something that fits the game, but something that i’d listen to in my free time. Astral Chain’s story is a beautiful narrative that is addictive and keeps you wanting to come back to see what happens next. Astral Chain is another magnificent entry from Platinum games with a great story, beautiful sound design, and absolutely stunning visuals.… Expand

The skill trees and upgrade system is so vast that you'll probably have only scratched itsWhatever it does, Astral Chain does a lot of. The weirdly original combat is just as complex as other Platinum games'. There's a seemingly limitless amount of side missions, mini-games and fetch quests. The internal achievements-and-rewards system is large enough to be annoying to scroll through. The skill trees and upgrade system is so vast that you'll probably have only scratched its surface by the time you finish the game. This is a game that really wants to be triple A, and one of the very few big budget third-party Switch exclusives.

    All that abundance, however, doesn't make Astral Chain a masterpiece. The game is just as plentiful when it comes to shortcomings. The mini-games and side missions can get repetitive and annoying. The camera is a disaster. The story is as silly as most Platinum games, and it sports a double-ending that's as jarring as the first version of Blade Runner. And the characters are generally unlikable and cliche, with the only memorable character appearing in a single mid-game chapter and quickly disappearing forever.

    At times, all the game's kaleidoscopic elements gel together. At those times, Astral Chain is a feast of hectic combat and complex mechanics that are uniquely its own. More often than not, however, all those ideas end up disjointed. After the initial fireworks, you realize that the seemingly open-ended chapters all share the same structure: a first part of pseudo-open world mission hunting, followed by a story-advancing, combat-heavy sequence. The idea of complex investigations based on collecting clues, that sets the template for the first few missions, is quietly dropped in favor of… well, just more and more bland missions and mini-games.

    Astral Chain is certainly a game worth playing, and it must be commended for trying something different–but it doesn't really go the whole nine yards with its novel ideas. It might be those ideas that you came for, but ultimately you'll only stay for the combat.    … Expand

    Uno de los 3 mejores juegos de nintendo este año, sino el mejor, apartado tecnico impresionante. Diria que ahoramismo tiene el techo de la consola. Jugabilidad de 10, como era de esperar viniendo de platinums games.

    Le pondría pegas en que es un poco repetitivo, los escenarios no varian mucho y es un asco jugarlo con los Joicon para alguien con tuner carpiano...Control pro obligatorio.

The bosses of this game are fun and provide just the right amount of challenge (if you’re playing on Pt Standard) and it’s very satisfying once you beat them. As far as story goes, I think it’s a bit mediocre and cliche, but it’s far from the worst thing ever. Some characters are cool in my opinion, like a couple of the neuron officers, Hal, and the Hermits, but the rest of the characters would benefit more from better writing like Yoseph and Jenna. Aside from a few character and story issues, this this a pretty high quality game, is very fun to play, and I could tell that a lot of time and dedication was put into this game.… Expand

    If you are feeling apprehensive about the amount of content in Astral Chain, allow me to ease your mind. This game can be as long or as short as you want it to be. There are approximately 130 red cases and 90 blue cases to solve over the course of 12 chapters, and some cases (like the heavy traffic puzzles) can take upwards of 20+ minutes to solve. Plus, you have to keep your eye-risIf you are feeling apprehensive about the amount of content in Astral Chain, allow me to ease your mind. This game can be as long or as short as you want it to be. There are approximately 130 red cases and 90 blue cases to solve over the course of 12 chapters, and some cases (like the heavy traffic puzzles) can take upwards of 20+ minutes to solve. Plus, you have to keep your eye-ris peeled for cats, chests, digging spots, arrow rewards and red matter in every area you go. Between upgrading your weapons and legions and completing the appropriate orders to acquire the necessary premium material codes needed for upgrade, you can easily spend 40-50 hours. It took me 60 hours to fully upgrade my x-baton, Legatus and Sword legion and I have not even s-ranked everything yet. My biggest regret is not taking a picture of every enemy right away because now I don’t know what photos I’m missing which makes it difficult to 100%.

    As stated above, there is a ton of depth to this game. Everything from puzzles to riddles to platforming to stealth and escort missions can be found in this platinum title, so if you were expecting a simple hack & slash, think again. The game isn’t perfect though. The motion controls function poorly in tv mode (even if it is hardly used), the camera can be a little funky when you are trying to fight multiple enemies and the FPS will go bonkers at certain junctures. The biggest problem, however, is the fall damage incurred in the astral plane. That sense of satisfaction you get from dodging attacks is quickly gone the moment you get close to the edge, and I suspect the developers knew this was cheap because the game allows you to survive with 1 hp. Also, your fall damage INCREASES relative to your hp. How stupid is that? The game provides abilities that grant immunities to just about everything except fall damage. I would honestly deduct 2 points off the final score if it were not for the fact that this is mostly a post-game issue than a main game issue.

    All these things prevent Astral Chain from getting a perfect score in my view, but Astral Chain is the best game I have played in 2019 and that’s gotta count for something.

    Just finished the game. I love everything about it. The only gripe I have is the camera control - especially the lack there of when controlling the legion. The control scheme need some getting use to, but after that, I like this more than using the face buttons for attack. I play less Bayonetta 1 and 2 because my thumb feels hurt when playing it for a longer sitting.

    For me the first 1 hour was kinda week and the combos were not really there but after you get back your legion the game has great combos, fast gameplay and great characters and story.     an amazingly fun game, looks great, plays great, is just a bit anime, not to any cringe point and the replay value with extra missions give you dozens of extra hours of gameplay; the music is also amazing, the plot could be better, is not bad, is not super new and innovative on storytelling but still makes for a great excuse to throw your Legions to the enemies.
    Also fully customizable,    an amazingly fun game, looks great, plays great, is just a bit anime, not to any cringe point and the replay value with extra missions give you dozens of extra hours of gameplay; the music is also amazing, the plot could be better, is not bad, is not super new and innovative on storytelling but still makes for a great excuse to throw your Legions to the enemies.

    One of the top games of the year, for sure.

    As for my opinion, this game is pretty good, graphics and more importantly animations are nice and fluid, combat, while a bit shallow works really well and is loads of fun and the soundtrack and -effects are also really good. However, one actual criticism I have with this game is the most important part, the FPS. While it is not impossible to play the game at 30, it would've been a lot nicer if it were 60 FPS, even if they would've had to downgrade the graphics in order to do so, but like always, say it with me now, graphics in video games don't matter as long as the gameplay is good!    … Expand

    -La jugabilidad es impecable como todo lo que hace platinum games todos los movimientos son muy precisos. Hay decenas de mecanicas que vas desbloqueando con forme avanzas en el juego que le dan una variedad a la jugabilidad increible y recuerdan a muchas otras mecánicas de otros juegos de platinum como el corte de la legion espada que lo vemos en el Metal Gear rising o ir montado en la legion bestia que recuerda a bayonetta. Tambien otros toques de platinum como ir en vehiculos como en bayonetta le dan una gran variedad al juego.
    La banda sonora es muy buena y con mucha variedad e inspirada en otros juegos o peliculas como blade runner o ghost in the shell,
    Tambien tiene un diseño de niveles realmente bueno dentro de los portales, con partes muy originales de plataformeo bastante profundas, en ese entorno tan increible que a simple vista puede parecer plano o repetitivo pero una vez que empiezas a explorar los portales ves la variedad tan buena de paisajes que realmente sorprenden.

    -Visualmente tambien es increible los diseños de personajes son muy buenos, y los diseños de las kimeras y legiones sencillamente son buenisimos.
    Las partes de la ciudad literalmente son espectaculares recordando aveces a callejones de japon con mil luces y colores o a ciudades de grandes capitales llenas de luces, carteles en movimiento etc que recuerdan bastante a peliculas como akira, ghost in the shell o blade runner.

    El juego tiene decenas de mecanicas, no solo en las batallas, a la hora de investigar tambien le da mucha variedad al juego y nunca estas obligado a resolver todas las investigaciones con lo cual aveces tambien se agrade, por que dan la posibilidad de ir al grano en la historia siempre que lo desees.

    La historia es relativamente compleja y muy interesante de seguir y le da mucho sentido al juego y a la jugabilidad en general, no son cosas seperadas como en otros hack & slash, que te cuentan una historia y es la escusa para tener batallas sin sentido.

    En definitiva, es un gran juego que merece la pena, aporta un sin fin de mecanicas novedosas a los videojuegos de este tipo, la jugabilidad es compleja, por el sin fin de posibilidades que tienen los combates, y a la vez es realmente buena y profunda, y las sensacion de accion es muy buena y visualmente espectacular. La ambientación al mas puro estilo anime y futurista es uno de lo mejores puntos del juego y tambien en ese sentido aporta algo novedoso.

    Mi punto negativo puede ser, que aveces la exploracion puede hacerse algo tediosa, pero esta no es algo que sea obligatorio para avanzar, y en ocasiones incluso se agradece para disfrutar de los entornos y descansar de los combates que a veces se encadenan muchas batallas seguidas

    Una de las mejores entregas de este año, un juego que va más allá de la satisfacción del jugador. Astral chain para mi punto de vista es un juego que aporta por mucho a la industria. Y estoy seguro que este juego tendrá estudios detrás sirviendoles como ejemplo y apoyo para futuras entregas.     Dificultad buena, en modo dock se ve muy bien y superó mi expectativa, para mi es mejor que el dmc 5 por narrativa, jugabilidad y variedad de combos. Le he dado el triple de horas que a DMC 5, este juego es de los que puedes viciar hasta hartarte y siempre puedes hacer retos y tratar de sacar la clasificación máxima para sacar todo el contenido extra.     Me lo han traído hoy por fin y estoy alucinando con lo que he visto hasta ahora. Super frenético y me parece que sus mecánicas son divertidas y originales. El diseño artístico me parece una flipada bestial, y la música acompaña en todo momento.

    Seguiré jugando y dependiendo de como avance la experiencia mejoraré o bajaré la puntuación, pero por ahora tiene la pinta de que como mínimo el    Me lo han traído hoy por fin y estoy alucinando con lo que he visto hasta ahora.     Mi anterior critica con este juego fue algo injusta, en mi primera critica mencione que en el apartado de acción el juegos es sobresaliente y que las partes de investagacion rompían el ritmo del juego. En mi segunda partida he tenido una sensación totalmente distinta y considero que las partes de investigación son bastante pocas en comparación con las de acción, el problema de este juegoMi anterior critica con este juego fue algo injusta, en mi primera critica mencione que en el apartado de acción el juegos es sobresaliente y que las partes de investagacion rompían el ritmo del juego. En mi segunda partida he tenido una sensación totalmente distinta y considero que las partes de investigación son bastante pocas en comparación con las de acción, el problema de este juego es que hay muchos combates interesantes que están ocultos y eso no debería ser así, dando en la primera partida una sensación bastante equivocada de lo que este juego puede ofrecer.     I don't usually leave reviews, but this game exceeded my expectations, and experiences with Bayonetta, DMC 5, and Nier: Automata. The combat is a great mix of easy to learn and hard to master. The multiple legions and ability slots let you experiment with different builds at once.

    I also really like the story (I'm currently on chapter 08). The hub between levels doesn't feel    I don't usually leave reviews, but this game exceeded my expectations, and experiences with Bayonetta, DMC 5, and Nier: Automata. The combat is a great mix of easy to learn and hard to master. The multiple legions and ability slots let you experiment with different builds at once.

    I also really like the story (I'm currently on chapter 08). The hub between levels doesn't feel time-wastey, but actually a chance to learn more about the npcs and discover items (like in Fire Emblem: Three Houses).

    The customization options, like the UI coloring, are also very appreciated. The music is fantastic, too! Very prog house / techno.

    The graphics look amazing on my 65" 4k tv. I typically use my PS4 Pro and switch in handheld mode, but I don't feel like this experience misses anything. The art style just looks great and compensates for any hardware limitations. Worth buying a switch for IMO.    … Expand

    I feel that Astral Chain is a strong contender for one of the best games of 2019. Platinum Games has found yet another way to revolutionize combat in action games, and this begins with the concept of the Legion. One can jokingly describe the Legion as a Persona or a Stand, but what makes Legions stand out is that you can freely swap between five of them, adding new layers of versatilityI feel that Astral Chain is a strong contender for one of the best games of 2019. Platinum Games has found yet another way to revolutionize combat in action games, and this begins with the concept of the Legion. One can jokingly describe the Legion as a Persona or a Stand, but what makes Legions stand out is that you can freely swap between five of them, adding new layers of versatility and strategy to every fight. The musical score is expertly made, including a final boss theme that may be in my top five video game songs ever created. Even in casual mode the enemies can provide a significant challenge at times. There is one detriment to this game, and it's that a lot of the characters aren't written that greatly. Obviously Jena and Yoseph are standouts but a lot of the others are just kind of there. I would have loved the player character to have some voice lines and a real personality, but at the end of the day this IS an action game. And if you're looking for a fast-paced, high-stakes, incredibly inventive action game, look no further than Platinum's newest masterpiece.… Expand

While the beginning starts off strong, playing as a silent protagonist going through the motions really manages to distance you not only from your own character, but as well as the world at large. By the end of the game I still had many questions, and so many of the awesome NPCs were side-lined it makes me wonder if they intend to make a sequel.     The game is pretty mediocre. The puzzle elements and platforming seems out of place and unintuitive while the combat itself has ups and downs. Larger enemies especially were lackluster. I heavily suggest playing any other Platinum game such as Bayonetta or Nier, as this is definitely the worst of the 3, as all I could feel was disappointment and frustration in its design choices.

    just beat this game (with some time gaps) but still can say few words about it. So first what i want to admit excellent graphic quality (except absence of Anti-aliasing - all looks kinda too sharp) and art style that is some kind of cyber or future punk. Epic boss battle and interest story another great pros of this game. and some words about cons: as for me some of side quests are similarjust beat this game (with some time gaps) but still can say few words about it.     The game is a masterpiece, I even go so far that I would like Astral Chain to be a contender for Game of the year.
    In the first two chapter, without the Legion, the combat feels kind of weird but when it get to chapter 3, oh boy, the combat was really good. The story ... it was amazing, from chapter 3 you will have a little heartbreak and the story just build up from then, it keep getting    The game is a masterpiece, I even go so far that I would like Astral Chain to be a contender for Game of the year.

    The fights are the best I've seen but they are better in the last operations and also the story is very good check and it hooks you a lot.

    This was a great game, the story was well done (until the last 2 chapters, not going to say anything, play the game or watch a walkthrough) the combat is the best that Platinum games has ever made. The graphics are clean on dock and in handled is good for the most part. The soundtrack is very nice. Overall 8.5 the last 2 chapters felt rushed to me but that doesn't mean it a bad game.

    This game is among the best AAA titles I've ever played. The action is fun and intuitive, it uses a ton of stupid, fun melodramatic anime tropes. The difficulty curve is good (except for the second mission, which kind of sucked) and there's a wide variety of strategies and play styles.

    Increible diseño de personajes, jugabilidad precisa y bastante fluida. La historia es fácil de entender y muy entretenida, este sin duda alguna uno de los mejores juegos para switch ya sea en el apartado gráfico, cómo en la jugabilidad.
