Overall Asterix and Obelix Slap them all is at its core a 90’s beat 'em up and with that comes the usual trappings of the genre for better or worse. Though not as difficult as some of its fellow games in the genre the 50 levels of the game certainly make it a slog to get through. This can very much be someone's first game of the genre as it is easy and intuitive enough for players of all skill levels.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! is a great 2D beat'em up with an audiovisual section that is a true delight for the senses and that is enjoyed from beginning to end, either alone or in company. It's a shame that it doesn't have Spanish dubbing or an online cooperative mode.

Overall, we are faced with a product that can attract the attention of Asterix fans and those who love the genre, but which could have turned out to be much more enjoyable with several more tricks.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! is a disappointing beat'em up which bets everything on the beautiful visuals but ultimately fails at everything else.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All!

Asterix and Obelix, taken from the French comic, are characters I’m not at all familiar with so I can’t comment on their use here, though I will note their personalities as well as the unusual characters they interact with in the story, do provide a decent basis for light humor. Gameplay-wise you’ll be dealing with the contrast between the smaller and more precise Asterix and the much larger and brawling Obelix, though since the controls are the same for each at a high level they perform similarly. The play tends to be pretty traditional, though perhaps a bit light on overall strategy compared to some more accomplished titles, but I do appreciate the inclusion of some secret spots on the periphery you can find and that help to encourage exploring the space. Playable solo or with a buddy what strikes me most is that within the genre this may be the most stripped down but still enjoyable titles I’ve played in the space, and with the co-op I could see this being a great title to play with a younger or less experienced gamer, helping to bring them into the fold a bit more gently. It isn’t the most complex or satisfying brawler out there by a fair margin, but there’s something to be said for its sense of humor and accessibility that many of its brethren lack.

TheIf you would like to have a new game from the well-known universe, you should take a closer look at "Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All!". The story, the battle system is fun and you will have a lot of fun alone or in pairs. Although the collision detection is not flawless, you can still beat up your opponents with the familiar two heroes. The graphics look great and fans will be really happy. The sound is decent and rounds off a good overall impression. Expand

Its graphics, music, sound effects and texts are spot on, respecting rather well the original work. And what satisfaction to mow through whole groups of enemies.
Unfortunately it has its issues like the amateurishly made interludes between the stages, a certain redundancy in enemies and locations and bosses not being anything special play-wise, some trash enemies were even tougher than them, especially the gladiators.

Me being a fan this game has been a worthy investment but there are better beat'em ups on the market.
