+ Unlocking stuff is a lot of fun.
+ You can get away with not spending anything, if you choose.
    - Wanted missions are a nightmare. I really hate them. - End of wanted missions, it messes with your camera right before you need to aim for a ramp. - Frame rate goes really low at times, mostly on wanted missions. Noticing a pattern? - Police have never been more irritating in a game. -

    - This game has by far the worse rubber banding ever. It's all about your car and not skill.
    - Ramps and physics can be very buggy.
    - The game is completely broken in online racers.
= The fun of this game really is just the addictive collecting, the races them self are pretty horrible. The wanted mission are the worst aspect of the game.

First off, it's a great port of the mobile version, but some big things stand out to me that shouldn't be an issue for such a long going franchise. 1. The controls. In the mobile version you can tilt your phone as little or as much as possible to steer your cars precisely, with a controller, you only have left and right, that's it. No analog support in a 2019 game is unacceptable. 2.First off, it's a great port of the mobile version, but some big things stand out to me that shouldn't be an issue for such a long going franchise. 1. No analog support in a 2019 game is unacceptable. 2. Unbalanced online matchmaking. It's simple, pair players that have a similar car ranking and that are in the same tier. I get paired with vehicles nearly twice my power, and get destroyed, and lose some of my rating because of it. If you want to play this game competitively, only play the time trial events that come up, those are fun.

    3. Latency online. This may be only my problem, i'm not sure, but i often fail to score a take down on another player because of lag. It's very laggy at times, not to where my car teleports but the other way around. I haven't been able to try the split screen mode yet but i hope it's fun. All in all think it's an ok game, but for those wanting to progress as quickly as they can and get more vehicles by climbing leaderboards, winning online races, etc, i can see it to be an extremely frustrating experience. Just get Grid if you want a solid racing game.

I'm only giving a 3/10 to this game because those 3 stars go to the devs that made an amazing work porting the game, the -7 Stars is because of the stunningly aggresive microtransacionts mechanics, yes it doesn't look so bad at first, wait 5 hours.

In 9, the developers want you to spend less time racing and more time figuring out their confusing and unnecessary card system for getting cars, all so they can nickle and dime you to death. The races are too short. I don't want to spend time clicking menus, collecting cards and leveling up cars. I JUST WANT TO RACE.

I bought some premium content for 8 because I loved it so much, but all 9 deserves is a 'DELETE ALL DATA'

A free game that freezes and potentially corrupts your system is less than worthless. Is 0 the lowest score? This game needs something lower.

    Seriously, what is this?
I have mario kart 8 deluxe but I still downloaded this free game, it sucks, I opened the game, it asked my age and my sex, and then I pressed ok, and it stopped working, I quit the game, but the nintendo home screen also froze, but then I had to wait 6 hours before the switch lost all of it's battery and I could charge the switch and then I could play mario kart

It's a microtransaction hell - we all know it.

But the biggest issue I have with this game is it HORRIBLE STEERING. Did you know that analog sticks are treated as simple D-pad buttons? There's NO PRESSURE SENSITIVITY. You either turn all the way, or don't turn it all. Which completely ruins the gameplay imho. Especially on faster cars. I hope it's just a bug and will be fixed in future

This is a terrible racing game solely let down by the ridiculously stupid 'knockdown' system which makes it totally unplayable asa racing game. I get blown up if I hit people, I also get blown up if I'm hit by people, you get blown up from behind, you get blown up from above, all of which you can't see or avoid, it's a fricken retarded system.

They should have polished this and made it a full price, complete game which could have been amazing. Instead, it is a greedy mobile game on a console. Also around the time I hit the pay wall, I hit major slow down. Frame drops don't usually bother me at all but this went down to about 2fps. Pure frozen up stutter.

You wouldn't serve cup a soup at a gourmet restaurant, so why serve a mobile game on a console. Waste of a great game with a great soundtrack.

Gameplaywise and in general, graphics, sounds, content, everything is 9/10. Maybe rubberbanding a bit annoying on some occasions, but I got used to it. But the developers are the most greedy bastards you ever met. And normally I'm like, okay, as soon as it's F2P, I accept a bit of grinding. So I did here. But I'm also like, take my money and give me a fully working product. Like in case ofGameplaywise and in general, graphics, sounds, content, everything is 9/10. And normally I'm like, okay, as soon as it's F2P, I accept a bit of grinding. So I did here. But I'm also like, take my money and give me a fully working product. Like in case of FH series, I always buy the premium bundle and I'm happy with it. But here, even if you spend money, you get nothing. The devs are adding new cars, are making them required for the new (seasonal) challenges, and nearly impossible to get. So even if you spent some astonishingly huge amount of money (like €250) to get the best cars, you still need to grind or to spend more money. That's awkward, because normally when I'm spending €50 on a game, I expect at least the basic content (career) to be available. Not in this case. In this game you can't even finish the career. You need to grind for years, or spend thousands of euros, to get through. And, don't get me wrong, spending no money at all I was able to finish the huge amount of challenges and get all the basic cars no problem (just the ZL1 required some more grinding unfortunately, but I managed to get it). And, since the game is absolutely fun to play, it was a good spent time. But now I decided to finally pay a little for it, to get some boost. And, trust me, having the season pass (you need to buy one each season!), having bought some of the content, I'm still with literally nothing, and the stuff that I got is useless. The game economy is mad. You earn hundreds, but you need to spend hundreds of thousands to perform any base tuning to the cars. Not to mention how difficult it is to get the base cars required from you to play the base seasonal events. That's absolute madness. That's the most exploiting F2P system I have ever seen. And, again, I would be okay with that said I'm not to pay a single dime. But once I spend money, I should be given a complete and working game. And €50-€100 should be maximum amount required from you to get the full game. In this case, nah. Even if you spent €1000 you're still in a **** not able to play the majority of the content (especially the seasonal one), and you're barely able to finish the career mode (I'm still missing a lot of content, due to lack of specific cars, that are impossible to get, even when you spend all your money on cards). So yeah, here we are... With a perfect arcade racing game for the Switch, with perfect graphics, sounds, perfectly optimized, absolute fun to play, but yet so annoyingly wrong when it comes to any economy whatsoever. The earnings/spendings ratio is ridiculous. The prices for the paid content are ridiculous. The uselessness of the paid content is ridiculous. I hope to see the paid version of the game one day, to be able to simply buy it for like €50 and play it with no worries. That'd be the perfect solution. Currently it's bad, extremely bad. You can only play it if you're rich as hell. But the question is - do the devs deserve your money for it? I don't think so... Expand

The game is prone to crashing on start-up, forcing you to re-download the game, it can crash your switch because of synchronizing errors. It just doesn't work. It's too risky to play because anything in this game is prone to completely brick your switch. Game-play side, it's barely alright, maps aren't numerous but they change to make different tracks, the feelings of playing with joy-cons is dreadful and the meta basically revolves around : "don't barrel roll, spin when you jump", that's it. The progression system is a mere joke that will make any other video game burst into laughs. The career mode is doing over thousands of races over, and over and over, it's boring and uninteresting and it's forcing you to upgrade your worthless cars that you'll never ever use, couple that with frequent chase sequences with police cars that have rubber banding soo hard it will make dark souls look like a joke. The game ask you to spit money to get cards that allow you to get cars if you have enough cards. Of course the best cars aren't available in these cards pack loot-boxes, but they are exclusive to events, that require good cars that are unlocked either by spending money or spending 200 hours in the game just grinding for a car you don't want. This game is fun, but only when you boot it everyday praying for it to not crash. It's not worth the hassle. Expand

Gets boring quickly. There's not a lot of challenge. Tracks all start feeling the same and they're too short.
Sure, it's "free" but unless you enjoy grinding away you're going to hand to spend money. I despise freemium games but I was bored and decided to see if it was any good. I'd rather just buy the game outright than have to pay far more over time in stupid micro-transactions

"Freemium” games are a scourge of mobile gaming, and seeing it come to the Switch in such an aggressive way feels just as icky here as it does on your mobile device. There’s undeniably a lot to do here, but be ready to shell out some real money if you want to get the full Asphalt experience.

Perfect to play on the go and available for everyone for free, Asphalt 9 Legends is a fast-paced and well-structured game, with only a few excesses related to microtransactions, and a bit of grinding too.
