Art is certainly subjective, but most people will be hard pressed to get more than an hour's enjoyment from ART SQOOL.

Art Sqool fails as both an “art school simulator” and a video game. There’s nothing educational here, and its gameplay is the equivalent of scribbles I might’ve drawn as a toddler.

Art Sqool isn’t the first game to leverage simple art play by a longshot, and contemporary games like Passpartout: The Starving Artist or even the design systems in Animal Crossing: New Horizons encourage players to create art to progress, for the sake of it, to make a statement, or to pointedly avoid making any at all. Art Sqool might want to just make light of the medium, or to take aim at systems which purport creative instruction, all of which is well and good, but also familiar territory. The ultimate result of asking $10 to these essentially banal ends is probably its most poignant opinion on art for profit.

This is the best game I have ever played in my life because of the thrilling story with complex character development, amazingly beautiful and stunning graphics, amazing movement and momentum mechanics, and the creativity that is unlocked with the drawing accessory that you can buy for the games takes the word creativity to a whole new level. Artist and gamer here, there is nothing to do.
Artwise, the tools are incredibly limiting with a small canvas, few interesting brushes, and maybe 6 colors. I was unable to complete 5 (uncreative) prompts before finding the process repetitive.
Gamewise, the mechanics are **** The world is cute, but has little interaction. I was able to wander around (very slowly! your character moves outrageously slow!) for 30 minutes before I saw everything. All you can do is choose a spot to draw, or pick up new tools and colors to draw with. Yes, the limited tools and colors aren't even unlocked at the start. I had to grind out basic colors for my art. The developer even sells these as an in-app purchase. I should not have to buy art tools separately in an ART GAME. There's also a grading system for your art that seemed interesting at first, but is seemingly random and useless. It grants you no progress.
In summary, the art is subpar for an art game, and everything else is even worse. Would be okay as a $2 game, maybe even $4, but $10 is a waste. I had fun for an hour and never played again.
