This game is fantastic. A beautiful graphic and so many sweet characters. But there is a big problem: the text. The're so many text passages which are absolute useless. That is bad. But the rest is near perfect.

Game is fun and the customization compared to older titles is really nice. The gameplay is still fun though gets old quickly after a while, though get thats what the game goes for though it feels like you are just refreshing the shop for an item you might actually want eventually.

A chill game to just chill out with. I do find the villagers in this one to be very dull and uninteresting

This is a amazing game with plenty of fun to be had! But the issue comes if you started with the game where it becomes less appealing and more of a chore to play and hard to come back too and almost overwhelming with there now being lots of weeds and new features! Overall its a fun game i just wish the game came out with all the content at the start rather than adding them later

Easily one of my favourite games to jump into on the Nintendo Switch. Brings back the memories of playing on my GameCube, many times blown away how they managed to do something so beautiful but so simple looking. As systems moved on so did the versions of Animal Crossing. This is easily my favourite. You can fish, swim, and customize more than ever before.

Thank you for creating this game.
Although it has many flaws, it helps a lot of people through tough times.
    I like animal crossing.

Awesome game. Very relaxing, lots of content and nice customization tools. Must-have if you want a game to play a bit every evening after a hard day at work (I played almost 300 hours and I'm not bored at all, still many things to do).

The game is fun. Sure there are some problems with the controls, but with a little bit of time you can feel familiar with this.

The love Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon type games. So i thought for sure this would be right up my alley. Turned out to be way too tedious and felt more like chores than anything else. The relationships werent engaging enough me either. Maybe this game requires a bit more creativity out of the player than I was willing to bring to the table. But overall it left me feeling disappointed.

I wished I'd looked at metacritic before buying this game. There's no excuse for this.

This game is boring. All you do is fish and talk to annoying villagers while collecting every single thing because I can't just sell something I might want to use it later. That being said this is the best game ever.

I absolutely love Animal Crossing New Horizons. The graphics are gorgeous and I have fond memories of creating my custom island through quarantine. However, I can't say this game is better than New Leaf. Once I got burned out, I really got burned out. I never had that problem with New Leaf. If I went back to New Leaf, I would love it. If I came back to New Horizons, I'd be terrified to open the tab. The reason why New Horizons felt dry after a while was because the game didn't do anything new when I unlocked K K Slider. After that you get terraforming which is really nice. I used terraforming for a couple days, I got content with my island's layout and that was it. However, don't take this review as me disliking the game because I clearly don't. It's so beautiful and relaxing and I'd recommend it highly for fans. Expand

I’ve enjoyed my time with new horizons a ton I loved how they improved on customization and things of the sort but there are many sore thumbs that stick out to me being a long time fan, one is how any other accounts on the switch are forced to share an island now this isn’t a big problem for me as I’m the only one who plays but it is a big problem in terms of progressing as you can’t helpI’ve enjoyed my time with new horizons a ton I loved how they improved on customization and things of the sort but there are many sore thumbs that stick out to me being a long time fan, one is how any other accounts on the switch are forced to share an island now this isn’t a big problem for me as I’m the only one who plays but it is a big problem in terms of progressing as you can’t help out to expand the island, only the first person can cause a lot of hassle, so the rating loses a point from that, then secondly it feels like most of the loved furniture sets aren’t even in the game and with that it feels empty along with multiple NPCs missing it just makes me feel like this game was rushed even though in reality it was worked on for a long time, it feels bad to be harsh like this but there’s just a couple of big negatives that pushed the score down for me

Edit: back after almost 2 years, I'm dropping my score quite a bit now. The new updates were a step in the right direction but overall didn't fix the game's primary issue and that was longevity.
The longevity of this game wasn't good when compared to new leaf and I believe that's due to the very limited selection of items and overall barely any progression system.
Sure they added froggy chair back but still loved item sets never came back and felt replaced by less charming items. Then the shop never got anymore upgrades along with no other buildings on the island being added, it was a big disappointment hearing they would stop the free updates and it felt like they took our money and ran with it.

This is the worst animal crossing game to get started with and would recommend the older ones opposed to this.

The best Animal Crossing game I have played. I've played other Animal Crossing games before, but this one tops out as the best. Playing slowly every day, my ultimate goal is to get either Ankha or Marshall as a villager. Better both at the same time. I catch butterflies, communicate with the inhabitants, a very good game as an addition to something else.

I can only rate this as a single player experience, and for what it is, it would be a 9 or even a 10, because it's such cozy fun - But the one save file per system thing really blows.

This game is probably one of Nintendo's best. It is as of now the best Animal Crossing game. There are a few flawed areas. Animal Crossing New Horizons is basically perfect. Full of wholesome content that helped us cope with the COVID-19 pandemics, the game keeps the heart of its predecessors while innovating enough to make it unique. It may not have won Game of the Year but it'll be the game we all remember from 2020, for sure.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a stunning new instalment in the Animal Crossing franchise, hindered only by its lack of immediate content, quality of life issues and missing returning characters and features While future updates will give the game long-term playability, for those already sipping vacation juice on their five-star islands, island life feels pretty mundane right now.

It’s full of detail, pretty small things, and surprisingly well working simulations and systems – everything polished in such a way that the player really does care about everything that’s going on. [06/2020, p.40]
