  1. The roar of the engines and the squeals of the tires are almost as impressive as the graphics, even without headphones. All components mesh together like a finely tuned machine.
  2. Need for Speed ProStreet grasped a hold of me and has yet to let go. The game is engaging, competitive, and challenging. Each car is suitable for the game, and every time I unlock a new one, I feel a desperate need to test it out.
  3. Cutting straight to the chase, instead of driving aimlessly in search of an event miles away, was good for consoles, and it’s all the better here on the PSP.
  4. ProStreet might be a little late out of the development garage, but that doesn't keep it from crossing the finish line in greatly playable form.
  5. ProStreet has a simple and no frills line to racing but does offer enough of a variety and change from one race to the next to keep you on your toes and feet to the pedals.

Need For Speed: ProStreet is definitely not without wrinkles. That said, good drivers will be able to find ways around the quirks, both on the track and off. It all depends on whether you're looking for a quickie thrill or a more involving challenge.

Nasty motion blur and a dismal career mode. It offers little to NFS fans. [May 2008, p.82]

Need for Speed ProStreet does very little right on the PSP. If you're in dire need of a racing game, it'll do the job, but there are many more racing titles on the system that are much, much better.

Despite these impressive visuals, ProStreet doesn't quite pull off the all-important sense-of-speed factor. [May 2008, p.83]
  10. Even without the police chases and the breathtaking scenery, ProStreet could have been a great game. Instead, it’s a competent but not particularly interesting racing title that will constantly leave you wishing that you were playing a console version instead.
  11. The Need for Speed series takes a giant step backward with ProStreet for the PSP.
  12. A watered down, inferior version of a racing title that easily outclassed by other games in the genre on PSP. Avoid this one folks, there's no fun to be found here.
  13. It's dull, it's lacklustre, and it entirely betrays the series' name by having no perceptible sense of speed.

I think that this game is brilliant. It just suffered from the inappropriate title, because that's what most people seem to be focusing on. IfI think that this game is brilliant. It just suffered from the inappropriate title, because that's what most people seem to be focusing on. If it was called "Pro Racing" or something like that, it would've been seen in a different light.
Nonetheless, this game strikes the perfect balance between arcade and simulator. It's nice seeing a car act more realistic in a NFS game, compared to the previous titles.
It kept the best parts of the previous games the customization options and got rid of the annoying ones the cars don't act like plastic gravity-defying chunks anymore.
Also the graphics are very good, even today, almost in 2023, they still look beautiful on the highest settings.
If you like arcade-simulators I strongly recommend this game
