  1. Online or off, MotoGP is a very slick racing experience, and its deceptively simplistic gameplay hides a very effective control system and devastatingly addictive racing.

If you're looking for a challenge and have the patience, this is well getting on your bike for. [Dec 2006, p.96]
  3. Technically a good game, but what prevents it from being a great one is its lack of legs. The sense of accomplishment one gets from conquering season after season loses a bit of its shine when confronted with the same eight tracks and the same stiff AI, creating a lack of real replay value if there isn’t a stable of friends to multi with.

You may find the whole thing a little too tough, especially if you're out and about. [Issue#146, p.93]
  5. MotoGP is a good technical racing game, but the small selection of tracks and rigid artificial intelligence take some of the variety and excitement out of it.
  6. It would be nice to see a season mode as robust as the most recent PS2 version of MotoGP, but as portable games go, what's offered here is sufficient for decent racing action on the go.

The Season mode is as basic as it gets, and there isn't much besides that. The riding mechanics are fantastic, however, and that's what makes the game a nice pickup for motorcycle racing fans.
  8. A game that plays extremely well but is missing the modes to go along with it.

All in all it's a fun and technically competent title but lacking in creativity and substance.
  10. A real no frills game for the PSP, but it offers a solid racing experience and is different to the majority of racing games available for the system. It's technically impressive and offers plenty of stats to track and bonuses to unlock, and multiplayer is there if you can find anyone to play with.
  11. Moto GP is rather desirable for anyone that loves their simulated bike racers and the PSP once again proves that it's a decent handheld for racing fans.
  12. Slippery controls, lackluster multiplayer and just "ok" content make this a game that only the most dedicated will be interested in.

Moto GP is a good racer for anyone who wants motorcylces on the go and is willing to work past the controls.
  14. Like most PSP games, Moto GP is pretty much the same as the Playstation 2 version, just smaller. While the translation is very well done, there’s nothing interesting and worthwhile unless you really need it in a portable format.
  15. 60
While it has a few things going for it like its pretty look and the fact that it's the only cycle game available for the system, its overall difficulty level and its lack of variety in circuits and gameplay modes drag it down.
  16. Official Playstation 2 Magazine UK

It's definitely functional, but MotoGP is far more suited to lazing on a sofa than it is to gaming on the go. [Dec 2006, p.98]
  17. A very precise, slick, and technically impressive game. It just lacks a crucial spark.
  18. A bitter disappointment. It's a soulless, miserable outing that manages to make zooming around on crotch-rockets dull and frustrating.

I know nothing of motorcycle racing or how motorcycles handle in the real world, but I was looking for a fun, easy-to-play, and good-lookingI know nothing of motorcycle racing or how motorcycles handle in the real world, but I was looking for a fun, easy-to-play, and good-looking racing game and MotoGP easily fits that bill. The graphics still hold up quite well and they put you right into the action; you definitely get a sense of speed in this game, even on the small screen of a PSP Go. The game sounds really good as well, and you’re given a nice variety of music to go along with your gameplay if you so choose. Speaking of gameplay, the controls are what make this game fun to play. There’s a little learning curve to get a handle on when to brake going into a corner, but it becomes second nature after a few laps. The good news is the controls are not intimidating. The PSP version tends to fall more into the “arcade-style” of controls, so you don’t have to worry about dumping your bike or flinging yourself off the bike like you do on the Vita versions (MotoGP 13 and 14) which tend to be more on the simulation side of things. For a handheld game, I appreciate the pick up and play/arcade’y aspect more than a true to form simulation which tend to have steep learning curves and can lead to a frustrating experience. No frustration here as the game is just fun to play! What holds it back a bit is the limited number of tracks. Only 8 tracks in total, so the lack of variety will be noticeable if you play for an extended amount of time. As others have mentioned, the AI is truly robotic where they just seem to run on rails the entire time. I haven’t noticed any of them trying to block me or retaliate in any way, so that could be a positive or a negative depending on how you look at it. But, as a non-fan of motorcycle racing, this game is truly a good and fun experience and one I find myself coming back to over and over again when I’m craving some quick racing action! Full Review »

Don't let the 8 rating I gave it fool you. I love this game. I love motorcycles and try not to miss a real motogp race on tv and Don't let the 8 rating I gave it fool you. I love this game. I love motorcycles and try not to miss a real motogp race on tv and that's the cool thing with this game. It uses the real tracks that the real riders use. Game play is fun, you dont have total control over the bikes and riders like on the xbox or playstation but if you like racing games and have a PSP, you need this one. Full Review »

Only 8 of the tracks from the Moto GP season is a real cop-out. Especially when some of the best tracks were left out.
