The single-player is jam-packed with varied game modes. The simulation of Formula One racing is very accurate. As a bonus, playing with friends through ad-hoc support is a nice touch.
-
Not without issues and will demand perseverance, but F1 2009 rewards with a pick-up-and-play F1 experience that effortlessly overtakes the competition on PSP.

Playstation Official Magazine UKCan be as thrilling as the season it's based on. [Christmas 2009, p.113]
-
It’s short on features and lacking looks, but it nails the fundamentals well enough, with the F1 license served with an engaging handling model and an impressive sense of speed.
-
PSM3 Magazine UKDrier than a slice of unbuttered toast. [Jan 2010, p.95]

After a few years without Formula 1 games Codemasters took over the official license and delivers a brand new part on the PSP and Nintendo Wii. At this time the Wii part is better, but the PSP one is really fun. The career mode is always fun to play and it contains all of the licenses. A nice game for the fans of the Formula 1.
-
F1 Championship is a decent game, though it isn't perfect. There are certainly much better racers out there, however fans of F1 may want to check it out.
-
This game will be enjoyed specially by F1 fans. The rest of gamers may be disapointed by the control, which is not completely polished (although it improves if we tweak it), and the lengthy learning curve.
-
The PSP version of F1 2009 is far better than its Wii counterpart. It is not a top racing game, but it’s definitely the best you can get on Sony’s portable right now.
-
It's not perfect, but it sure is fun - even for a player who couldn't care less about the actual racing series. Sumo Digital puts an effort in bringing you a solid gameplay and despite of the sluggish presentation it's easy to recommend this game to pretty much everyone.
-
It's not perfect, but it's a solid effort and unlikely to disappoint.
-
A good racer that feels sort of unfinished in places. It’s fast and controls fantastic, but the bad AI, dated graphics and long loading times don’t exactly help. There’s a solid start for the future here, but it’s not quite there yet.
-
A solid racing game. It fails to inspire or innovate, but anyone looking for a decent racing game on PSP will find something here. Its biggest issue though, however, is that both Gran Turismo and MotorStorm Arctic Edge offer up a better standard racing game (whether you’re looking for realism or thrills and spills) on PSP.
-
F1 2009 falls squarely into the category of average racer.
-
Games Master UKNo evolution but this is an otherwise all-encompassing 2009 season experience. [Christmas 2009, p.73]
-
Play UKA feature-rich racer hamstrung by inaccurate controls. [Issue#187, p.75]
-
The core mechanics are solid, but the challenges of putting out a licensed product - and starting with a company as fussy as the FIA probably wasn't a good idea - have clearly got the better of them. Though I imagine if you're a devout F1 nut you can add 10% to the score.
-
F1 2009 suffers from the limitations of the PSP and handhelds in general. If you don’t care about that and you don’t crave realism, then this game might still suit you.
-
F1 2009 reaches the finish, but it's still very far from being a winner. Not a simulator, not an arcade, but yes a reasonable option for gamers looking for F1's speed.
-
Quotation forthcoming.
-
F1 2009 is an honest and pleasant game (yet with evident and avoidable flaws), but unluckily not the magnificent comeback fans were waiting for. Hopefully we'll see something a little more refined and meaty in 2010.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Fortunately, weak visuals and user-unfriendly controls can’t kill the feel of real speed on precisely modeled tracks. If you do not expect simulation you can find fun with F1 2009. [Issue#186]
-
If you absolutely, positively must have your F1 and can't get it anywhere else, F1 2009 is worth a peek. For everyone else, though, there's simply not enough here to really make a lasting impression.

Nov 25, 2021Now this is a game that nostalgia doesn´t affect the rating. I didn´t like even as a kid.
