Your going to hate this game at first. It takes a little time to get used to non standard game conventions like auto picking up everything and nothing is explained. Deaths will seemingly come out of nowhere but there is actually reasoning for things that are happening that you will learn after time. Almost gave the game up early but now I am addicted. For free everyone should give it 20Your going to hate this game at first. It takes a little time to get used to non standard game conventions like auto picking up everything and nothing is explained. It's gaming stripped down to the simplest of mechanics. I'm talking almost Atari game simple. While that would be the death of most games "Woah Dave!" manages to succeed thanks to it. It's an addicting high score game with a healthy dose of old-school difficulty.

The premise is simple; you throw skulls and eggs at enemies in order to collect their loose change in order to boost your score. The thing is your weapons can kill you. The eggs hatch into more enemies and the skulls explode. Both after only a few seconds. It's up to you to juggle all the on-screen chaos while keeping an eye on whether or not you need to drop/throw what you're holding before it kills you.

It can be a tad frustrating at first, but it doesn't take long to get a hold of things. Once you do it's not hard to find yourself gripping your Vita tight trying to get that score as high as it will go. The content here is quite slim, but it proves solid enough to make it worth a look for those who enjoy arcade style experiences.

Whoa Dave! is an arcade game. As you keep playing it, you'll discover new little things all the time. It is perfect for small burst, or for when you really want to beat your high score.

The graphics are cute and its simplicity keeps your focused on the game. I just find it a little too tough and the achievements could be a little more creative, and they could add a little more

Certainly one of the best 3DS games. It is so cheap that you certainly wont regret getting it.

Dave will eagerly steal 10 or 15 minutes from you here and there, and as a palate cleanser between longer games, it excels. But the climb back to the late-game point at which you bought the farm? It's more bummer than woah.

Not as woah-ful as the screenshots make it look. [March 2015, p79]

Woah Dave! is the kind of game that leaves me bummed out not because it’s bad, but because I want to like it. I see what it’s trying to do and I want to like it more than I do. I’m just not having fun playing it.
