In recent years, I absolutely fell in love with Rogue-like games. To be honest, it's not bad, but little disappointing to me and definitely not reaching the quality of those other rogue-like titles. Legacy is way too grindy, it's much less about the actual skill. Art style is also not really appealing to me that much and with constant grind in same locations and dying it gets old too quickly. There is still plenty of challenge, but it's more about grinding money and leveling up, than actually getting better at the game. Yes, there are some exceptions such as the 5 remixed bosses, where you have a fixed character to beat extremely hardcore challenge, but honestly, these fights are so over the top that it feels more ridiculous than fun. Still a good game, it's perfect for Vita, heir system is interesting and the gameplay is fluid, but it didn't really grab me as much as I thought it would. 7/10 Expand

A rogue-like game with an old-school style of gameplay reminiscent of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. Like most rogue-likes death is permanent and level layouts are randomized upon death. The game puts some twists on it by having you play as your character's descendant upon death. Not only do things like experience and items carry over, but each one has their own special traits.

The game puts some twists on it by having you play as your character's descendant upon death. Not only do things like experience and items carry over, but each one has their own special traits.

However outside of what class that feature doesn't really do much. I really didn't notice in difference between a character who had OCD and one who didn't. The traits mostly just act as little jokes that don't really affect gameplay at all.

In order to make any progress in this game is to grab as much gold and find as many unlockables like armor blueprints and runes before you die. That way you can use them to make your next characters stronger and make real progress towards the end of the game. While the difficulty itself is not an issue it doesn't help the fact that some runs are going to be fruitless. Sometimes you'll die shortly after entering due to getting a particularly brutal castle layout and other times the stuff you need just won't spawn in a helpful amount.

It can lead to runs that just end up feeling like a waste of time. The game works in a way that allows for bursts of gameplay that last for only a few minutes or much longer playthroughs. In order to make real progress you are going to have to put some time into this. So it sucks to achieve nothing in a run when I could have been doing something that actually would have bared some fruit.

Everything works fine, but often I felt like I was just wasting my time and not in the way I typically want to with video games. Still it's one that many are going to enjoy sinking many hours into. The way the cross-save feature is handled by automatic uploads is an excellent way to switch between consoles. I do have to say that I think the game feels much more at home on the PS3 because the controls are more fluid and responsive. The Vita is still a great way to play it though.

Well this game has such great reviews, people are so fond of it, that I though it will be as good as Spelunky (scores are similar there is a lot of You who say its even better). Well... no. Its not even close. Scrap that, its miles away. A/V are just generic. And I hate the fact that when I level up my character the monsters also do - whats the point then? I put 10 points in strength and when I hit skeleton I still deal him same ammount of damage! How dumb is that? Overall - overhyped, but nice little game. Just not as great as scores suggest. Expand

With great gameplay, challenging enemy encounters, and well put together RPG elements you should grab this game.

That Rogue Legacy got a lousy port is particularly damning, because the game is otherwise perfectly suited to the handheld, with an average round lasting no more than ten minutes but with depth encouraging much longer sessions if possible.

There's hardly something wrong in the Playstation consoles version of Rogue Legacy: this is still the same, excellent roguelite rpg seen last year on PC. But now you get to play it at 60 fps and on the go, thanks to the cross buy option.
