Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir is a very special RPG. It’s not only a jaw-droppingly gorgeous technical marvel, or a terrific and surprisingly grounded, relatable high-fantasy narrative, but it’s also an action-RPG with sublime, satisfying combat. It ticks all the boxes an RPG fan could want, and then some. It’s a genre masterpiece.

Vanillaware have done a wonderful job of bringing Odin Sphere up to date whilst still keeping what made it so endearing originally. If you are after a combat focused game with a compelling setup and a beautiful, painterly aesthetic you really can’t go wrong with Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir.

Starting from an already-outstanding PlayStation 2 game, Vanillaware went above and beyond to realize its full potential with the addition of more role-playing elements, a near-perfect framerate, stunning graphics, better maps, and a more vigorous combat mechanic. Even after I finished playing, I wanted to go back and explore more areas, fight more enemies and collect more loot. It’s a continuous loop of fun, and I hope it never ends.

Odin Sphere Leifthrasir is a cult classic for good reason. It's a strange title, but an engrossing one that's only let down by some one-note characters.

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir is a work of art, and a joy to play leisurely on the Vita. It offers an interesting series of characters, five interwoven stories, and a ton of action - only asking that you put up with a little slowdown in the high action bits, and semi-regular unnecessary interruptions in return.

The colors pop off the screen, the combat is visceral and beautiful and the RPG elements are pretty addictive. The first time you see a giant dragon on the screen in this game, you'll be hooked too. Fresh gameplayI picked up this game out of sheer curiosity and eye candy from the trailer. After playing for 6 hours, I must say I am hooked. Fresh gameplay style, and a side-scrolling orientation that makes traversing on the map pretty interesting. The characters are well-drawn, the dialogue and script is solid, the overall presentation, beautiful. The upgrade system is simple and straightforward, and lastly, -pardon the cliche- the boss battles are epic. Get this game, it's probably the best one out on the Vita today. Full Review »

But now in my new game plus I could choose this difficult or the heroic mode (very hardcore mode). So now the game is perfect for me and I give 10/10.

This Vita Version doesn't have problems with framerate and slowdown.
