A throwback to the survival horror and mystery games of the original PlayStation, Back in 1995 faithfully re-creates everything from this all-but-forgotten era of games.

Be transported to a world both concrete and indistinct, where you must uncover the mystery surrounding the disappearance of your daughter, the catastrophe that shook the city, and why you've decided to finally return.

Back in 1995 was created as a labour of love by indie developer Takaaki Ichijo as a means to replicate the unique feeling he had from his first gaming experiences: the PlayStation and the Sega Saturn.

    Features:

    * Get lost in the nostalgic world of retro 3D graphics, including low res models, texture warping, CRT emulation, and fixed CCTV style camera angles.
    * Relive the mystery game genre with an old-school user interface and tank controls.
    * Explore a sparse cityscape in the year 1995, littered with clues about the past.
    * Interact with a cast of damaged characters whose intentions you can never truly know.
    * Uncover the mystery of yourself, your daughter, and what happened to the city.

I don’t have nostalgia for the era, which means that Back in 1995 just feels oddly antiquated. It’s entirely possible that some enterprising developer can still revive PS1-era gaming for the better, but this game is very clearly not that.

As a 20 year old I dont really gather to much nostalgia from titles that are solely aiming to capitalize on that aspect. I do however respectAs a 20 year old I dont really gather to much nostalgia from titles that are solely aiming to capitalize on that aspect. I do however respect the appeal of a minimalist design to leave alot up to ones imagination. The art is also captivating and the reason I took a gamble to purchase it.Gameplay wise, I cant defend it much. It took a little bit to figure out kents movement, combat feels like ps1 silent hill, and levels are really short from how far i got. Story wise, writings vague, decent amount of cliches, and overall about average but thats not a bad thing. It fits the title and setting. For ambience, ill just say they really got me a few times with some decent tricks and immersive moments. Other than that the main enmies dont do much so I ran by em. Im happy with it and glad its a vita game. Expand
