    This game is pretty addictive on PSvita, but the only problem of the portable version of this game it's the framerate. When multiple NPC'S spawn in the area, the frame drops a lot.

Visually, the locale shows striking similarities to New York City. Akihabara tries to create an atmosphere where game and anime worlds come to life. As such, the streets of Akihabara are covered with anime and manga icons, and cosplayers line the sidewalks handing out advertisements. It’s a video game fan’s dream come true.

    I don’t want to give away any of the plot, but the game combines two genres we don’t often see coming together here in the west. Visual Novel & Action RPG. It does so brilliantly, in fact it even gives the player choices during dialogue, allowing every player to shape and mold the story according to the choices they make.

    For reasons I won’t explain, during combat your main goal is to strip your opponents clothing off of them! It’s a hilarious tactic that’s fleshed out incredibly well. You lower their clothing’s durability by attacking different parts of their outfit via the triangle, circle, and cross buttons. Once a piece of clothing is damaged enough, you can initiate a grapple to remove the item. You can pick up items your opponents drop, including clothing, weapons, and money.

    Exploring Akihabara is a pleasure as you can shop at most of the stores, and citizens lining the streets are full of dialogue and unique behavior. You often travel with a companion character who does their best to aid you. You can access your email and faux twitter accounts via smartphone. The game does a good job of making you feel like you are really living in Akihabara.

    So far I love it, the production values are high, there are easter eggs hidden everywhere, and the characters are all unique enough to make me want to actually talk to them. The combat controls aren’t quite as tight as I would like, but they still manage to get the job done. Depending on how long the campaign is, and how many possible outcomes there are…I can see myself playing this game well into 60+ hours.    … Expand

    So far I love this game! it's really fun and the story seems very interesting, some people may not like it and im sure critics will give it average reviews but if you're a true otaku and love anime such as myself and wanna walk around Akiba this is the game for you!

    Lets start with the bad:
    -The biggest problem with the Vita version anyways (cant comment for the other versions when they are all out) is the lock on system, holy **** its really annoying to switch targets.
    -The popping takes a while, there where many times that I would go into a zone to say, turn in a quest and have to wait 5 seconds for anyone to spawn in. I assume this is a    Lets start with the bad:

    -And the load times, every zone is a loading screen, long ones too, 3-5 seconds. I found myself just using the fast travel option 99% of the time to avoid multiple load times.
    -Bust size is based on clothing, so putting on a boys jacket onto Thoko for example makes her completely flat, and if you wanted to cross dress, you suddenly had boobs... Made me laugh the firsttime.
    -Memes, this is more of a neutral, I didnt mind them given the feel of the game. From what I hear the Japanese version has a ****load of 7chan memes in it that America wouldn't understand so they changed them into memes we would get. Normally I have a problem with memes in games, but given that the cast is a bunch of tech savvy teenager otaku it actually fits the theme really well.
    -I was a little disappointed with no P4G style dating after getting to know the girls (ive only gotten 1 ending now)
    -Nana-Chans stupid freaking minigame that's mostly RNG, I would have liked some way other then up/down, left/right to be able to manipulate it because my game favors up and right apparently.. I was trying my hand at it for an hour and could not get out of the top right corner of the 7x7 grid. I was trying to get all the events in case they gave items and stuff, but I just wound up raging my ass off. I

    The Good:
    -The Gameplay although simple was incredibly fun, the different combos based on the weapon was a neat thing.
    -The cast was really enjoyable and I wanted to get to know them, they made me laugh on many occasions.
    -TnA and SO MUCH FAN SERVICE. This could be a bad thing to many, but I enjoy Fan service in my games so long as the game itself is fun to play without it.
    -SO MANY ITEMS AND COSTUMES, holy **** mixing and matching to make the Swankiest looking guy is a lot of fun.
    -I think I read somewhere theres like 9 endings.
    -"Brotagonist" ~Nana-Chan.

    I have a hard time replaying games after I beat them, I usually have to wait months to replay them, but Akibas trip, I found myself wanting to collect everything, and get the other endings. I really enjoyed the game myself.

    It was a great yet sexy game where many of the feature is unique from both the choice of dialog and yet to the quirky moves place on the fighting. It is a jrpg so it has its weirdness yet awsomeness to it

    This game is so much more than stripping girls. First let me say there are as many if not more male enemies that you end up stripping, and over time you stop even noticing...its just another mechanic to get through the fights so you can continue the story progression.     The cast of characters is memorable and each one of them feel well placed. Of course you can only get to really delve into one characters story per play through but the way they do new game plus makes replaying feel like a new experience each time.

    I am a huge fan of visual novels and have been hoping for more western releases of these types of games. Hopefully other people have as much fun as I did with this game and we can show Japanese developers that they can make money over here as well.    … Expand

    I left for a lengthy beach vacation equipped with only my Vita and a newly downloaded copy of Akiba's Trip as a form of entertainment. While fighting against boredom at work, I was browsing the GAMESTOP online store for interesting Vita games for this intended trip as a way to show a system that I used to play non-stop, some much needed love. It's vague open-world, Anime-trope humor struckI left for a lengthy beach vacation equipped with only my Vita and a newly downloaded copy of Akiba's Trip as a form of entertainment. While fighting against boredom at work, I was browsing the GAMESTOP online store for interesting Vita games for this intended trip as a way to show a system that I used to play non-stop, some much needed love. It's vague open-world, Anime-trope humor struck me as rare for a game State-side so I tagged it for my wishlist pronto.

    As a disclaimer, I just want to say that the bar I was operating at was resting at about a C. All it had to do was provide entertainment, an easy to follow plot, and interesting mechanics. I wasn't looking for a profound experience or a hidden gamer-hipster (gapster?) gem that I could hold over peoples heads. I was look for plain ol' simple fun. And I'm not gonna lie, this game is really fun. But it also has a lot of infuriating problems.

    (Note, you can name the hero. I named mine Raiden. Raiden, from here on out, is the player-character.)

    Akiba's Trip is a small open-world game that takes place in Akibahara, a famous district in Tokyo that (to sort of sum up a whole lot of history and pop-culture) is an Otaku paradise. It has Maid cafe's, video game themed everything, cosplay festivals, and more. It's basically the place we all secretly want to go to when we're obsessed with a specific anime. In the game, you play a Raiden a kind of sardonic hero whose in-on-the-joke-but-so-far-away-from-the-joke he just can't sometmes. He's a collector of figurines (although I didn't find any in the first play through I did.) When he's in the middle of meeting with a potential buyer he's kidnapped! And basically made into a... monster with supernatural powers who has to keep his clothes on, or else he'll be destroyed in the sunlight. Through a series of events, you basically have to save Akibahara from these kind of vampire-witch people while cosplaying your heart out and ripping off peoples clothes... I know. It's an interesting game that has interesting mechanics but a lot of 21st Century video game problems that I'll get into below.

    It's an action-rpg in terms of combat but when you rip your enemies clothing with your weapon, you have to hold down the attack button to grab hold of your opponents clothes and rip them off. You can combo with for hilarity and even do special-tag combos with your partner.

    Overall, I give this game a C
    It was funny at parts, you can explore Akibahara a little bit, you can decorate your character, it's badass when you string together combos, and the plot is shallow enough so it allows you to work on side-quests without feeling as if you're real job is to save the world. It's a great pick-up-and-play experience.

    Things that I liked
    -Finding out you can get new ways to rip enemies clothes off. (So many funny ones!)
    -Playing dress-up like a cross-dresser. (What can I say? I like playing Drag queens.)
    -Beating people with a keyboard. (note: I work in customer service and use a keyboard.)
    -Wondering if I can get the cool clothes the enemy bosses have. (you can!)
    -Having a lot of enemies to fight at once. (I love when Dynasty Warriors is invited to the party.)

    Things I was OK with:
    -Healing. You "refresh" your clothing to heal your HP. It's annoying because there's a pause in animation to let it happen, which means enemies have a LOT of time to interrupt it and infuriate you.
    -The characters were all kind of lame. A lot of them were tropes but not done particularly well and all felt kind of "Well, we need a ninja girl in it."

    Things I didn't like:
    -The story line has no climax to it. It just begins, continues, and ends.
    -There are no ways to track your side-quests in-game. There's just a red "?" on the map showing the area it's in. This isn't bad, unless you have to find a specific person...
    -Load times are TERRIBLE. Since people don't load that fast, you're always running around a ghost town until BAM people show up. And when they do, pray they're for your side-quest.
    -Side-quest times are crazy-short.
    -Your sister is irritating as hell.
    -The English voice-acting is mind-numbing.
    -The game feels too small. It's the definition of a missed opportunity.

    -Why did I give it a 7? Because even though the game was flawed, it nailed the absurd concept fairly well without being that indecent and it was fun. When you beat it, you unlock new character models and a new game+ mode that I'll check-out later. But I don't feel sad playing, and beating it, in 10 hours. It's a fun game to play poolside.    … Expand

    Once again the ace translation team at XSEED are a wonder as they manage to bring a very Tokyo-oriented game to life for anyone not very knowledgeable of Japan to enjoy. The gameplay is a nice mix of Yakuza    Buy new.

    I couldnt enjoy this game at all. A lot of dialogue for yet another trope-tastic anime outing. The combat felt like a glitchy version of an old PSOne game. The only good thing I can say is that there are a lot of endings to encourage some replay....but the overall product was so unenjoyable that I dont see myself going back ever again.

Overall, the 7.5 hour story is rather short, but the replayability and different endings (along with the New Game+) allows for more runs to be made. I completed the game three times in the span of around 15-16 hours, completing **** Rin's, and Tohko's routes. Anyways, if you're a fan of anime and/or beat em ups, then get this game :D

Sure, it is extremely whacky, over-the-top, and targets a very small niche of players but in essence, I believe it is a classic VITA game. If you're the kind of player who doesn't get offended with fan-service easily. And oh boy there is a lot of fan-service. The whole game kind of spins around fan-service and for me itAkiba's Trip is a seriously underrated and misinterpreted VITA game.     The story is pretty dumb and you shouldn't go expecting anything deep. As long as you go expecting a lot of craziness and a non-sense plot and gameplay, you'll have a good time. The gameplay gets a bit repetitive at times but collecting all the different panties is actually quite unexpectedly fun if I may say so myself.    … Expand

    Es un excelente juego para la consola, con buenos personajes, excelente ambientación en el distrito de Akihabara con nombres y logos de tiendas reales es una delicia explorar toda la zona. La historia es bastante entretenida y las peleas son bastante divertidas.

    Es un juego que sin duda debe estar en toda consola Vita.

    One of the best games on the vita free roam is always nice exploring akiba and fighting other npcs and striping their clothes you can call this game anime gta controls are good and there isn't long loading screens

    It’s certainly not a joke game, and the writing quality does elevate it for those who have an appreciation of the material that is being targeted, but the whole combat mechanic becomes so tiresome so quickly that you can’t help but wish the game could have been shorter, the story more focused, instead of the more positive elements of the game losing some of their sheen from hiding behind the rest of it.

    Although there’s a niche that will no doubt revel in the game’s eccentricity, those who cringe at otaku culture will find very little value here. Even looking past its more tasteless tendencies, the game’s combat is average and its design is repetitive. Still, it’s a complete write-off by any means, in part thanks to its vibrant depiction of Akihabara and the surprise inclusion of English voiceover.
