Terrible controls, worse UI, horrible gameplay. Stay away unless you are a glutton for punishment.

Whoever is comparing this to Sekiro is high on bath salts.
    There's nothing to compare here.
But it did make me wish I was playing Sekiro... If you like Nioh you may like this, but otherwise it's pretty average and not worth wasting anymore time praising nor bashing. Generic, with some positives, but a bit messy and convoluted. Was also surprised to see the game making you choose

Was also surprised to see the game making you choose "personal pronouns" in the character creator... I can't believe such stupidity has reached Japanese game developers.

    Easiest 5/10 rating ever.

Wait for a discount and you may enjoy it more. Full price not worth it.

Incredibly poor game design. The entire game is gatekept by a single, reflex related ability - deflect. If you cannot get the deflect down you can not progress out of the tutorial. If it was just defeating a single phase boss, fine. But to have two phases that rely on reflexes ONLY is a really, really poor game design choice. But to have two phases that rely on reflexes ONLY is a really, really poor game design choice. The only reason why it is not receiving a 1 from me is that it was made available on Game Pass so at least all I was out was time and space on my SSD.

I was able to get to the second phase multiple times but the pace of the deflects changes drastically. Also the deflect window is inconsistent and the hit boxes for the first boss are obscene, making any dodging impossible. The same is true of the second phase. If it were a single phase I could understand it. I think I will stick to From Soft games. At least there I can find multiple ways to progress.

Leveling up and armor means nothing in this game, who ever came up with the Morale system in this game, never needs to use this system again, it’s horrible, if you die in this game the thing that beat you is now even stronger the next time you meet it

Don't get me wrong... I love games like this... but this game is too hard. This game is harder than Sekiro. I can't even beat the first boss. My friend beat the game with the starting sword. All weapons feel like **** Farming simulator. Boring ball busting boss fights. I rather play dark souls or elden ring.

I'm not a fan of the games that purposely try to overdue it when it comes to difficulty. The game does a horrible job when starting off explaining the different systems other then the main buttons. I spent almost 2 hours XP farming to get to level 15 and still couldn't beat the 1st boss that has 2 forms. Thankfully it was on Game Pass and I didn't purchase the game. Just what we expect from Team Ninja. Almost perfect SoulsBorne game which is unique and fresh in combat and atmosphere. Learning curve of combat is hard but necessary. They did turn with that after Nioh like Fromsoft did with Sekiro after Dark Souls and it is awesome!

Wo Long is the next big action/souslike game by Nioh creator Team Ninja. It does however change the gameplay a lot and focusses more on a parry system, not unlike Sekiro. Overall the combat is the shining star of the game, while other aspects fall short.

The parry system feels extremely good and tight, it can however make the game rather easy as soon as you master it. After some training, only one boss took me more than 3 tries. The combat shines most on 1 vs 1, struggles when there are multiple enemies, due to lock on and camera issues.

The level design is better than in previous games, it helps a lot that there is a jump button now and levels do get way more verticality. Overall those levels feel much better here, but they are still average at best.

Systems like the smithy, skill trees, Ninjutsu and magic feel slightly weaker than Nioh – more streamlined and less crazy to master them. It is better for casual players, as a huge Nioh fan it was a bit disappointing from time to time. Furthermore I dont feel that there is a need for that hub area.

A solid game with great gameplay, but it stands in the shadow of Nioh, which is superior in many ways.

In general it is a really good game with the main mechanics very well polished, but with too much customization and options (in terms of character leveling, spells system and all that stuff) for my taste.
One of the main reasons I loved Sekiro (9.5/10 for me) was that you have 1 simple, yet balanced mechanic (parry) and 3 things you level up (HP, damage output and your left prothesis).

Bloodborne with Sekiro mechanics and Chinese story. There was only one hard boss and rest were easy so I definitely recommend this one for players who are too casual to play other soul-like games which are harder... Even platinum was easy in this game. Its like FromSoft game for noobs. Still great though especially if you need ego boost on harder ones. Overall 9/10 game.

Voice acting (chinese) is spot on. Music is nice and graphics are great. Bosses are fast, aggressive, tough. They hit you two times and it's over. But they all have the same mechanics and just different timing. So inexperienced players may feel frustration, while for experienced souls it won't be major problem to get through the game without a scratch. [Issue#326]

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a lovechild between Sekiro and Nioh games with some Chinese mythos and history sprinkled on the top. It is a truly great combat experience that is drawn back by somewhat convoluted storytelling, lackluster decisions to simplify magic and attributes and severe optimization problems. With that said, it is a really fun experience that any fan of the genre will surely love.

An evolution of Nioh 2, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is an action-packed ride through history and dark fantasy that stands out in a post-Elden Ring world. [Issue#26, p.88]
