Just what we expect from Team Ninja. Almost perfect SoulsBorne game which is unique and fresh in combat and atmosphere. Learning curve of combat is hard but necessary. They did turn with that after Nioh like Fromsoft did with Sekiro after Dark Souls and it is awesome!

Wo Long is the next big action/souslike game by Nioh creator Team Ninja. It does however change the gameplay a lot and focusses more on a parry system, not unlike Sekiro. Overall the combat is the shining star of the game, while other aspects fall short.

The parry system feels extremely good and tight, it can however make the game rather easy as soon as you master it. After some training, only one boss took me more than 3 tries. The combat shines most on 1 vs 1, struggles when there are multiple enemies, due to lock on and camera issues.

The level design is better than in previous games, it helps a lot that there is a jump button now and levels do get way more verticality. Overall those levels feel much better here, but they are still average at best.

Systems like the smithy, skill trees, Ninjutsu and magic feel slightly weaker than Nioh – more streamlined and less crazy to master them. It is better for casual players, as a huge Nioh fan it was a bit disappointing from time to time. Furthermore I dont feel that there is a need for that hub area.

A solid game with great gameplay, but it stands in the shadow of Nioh, which is superior in many ways.

In general it is a really good game with the main mechanics very well polished, but with too much customization and options (in terms of character leveling, spells system and all that stuff) for my taste.
One of the main reasons I loved Sekiro (9.5/10 for me) was that you have 1 simple, yet balanced mechanic (parry) and 3 things you level up (HP, damage output and your left prothesis).

For me One of the best games of the Year. Once again Team Ninja was done a great job and I loved the game machanics, it completely addicts you. Some of boss fights are epics (hard by the Way) like Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo. I really dont know how someone can rate this game under 9…Well Done Team Ninja and congratulations for the evolution creating new mechanics…

Bloodborne with Sekiro mechanics and Chinese story. There was only one hard boss and rest were easy so I definitely recommend this one for players who are too casual to play other soul-like games which are harder... Even platinum was easy in this game. Its like FromSoft game for noobs. Still great though especially if you need ego boost on harder ones. Overall 9/10 game.

This game is easier than Sekiro.
The armor variety in the first few chapters is also not very promising, with only a few different armor pieces that look pretty similar. In general, a very fun game with moderate replayability potential. The good thing is that you always have one or two side missions to level-up up before charging to the main battlefield.

In terms of difficulty, it can be likened to a fast-paced version of Elden Ring, making it kind of a challenge. The battle system is unique, with DEFLECT requiring you to counter your enemy's attacks within a split second. Cheesing your way through boss fights is not an option most of the time. This game has a steep learning curve, so GIT GUD.

Character creation is a standout feature, offering extensive customization options (Unlike Elden Ring, you look ugly no matter what you do.)

The story is best appreciated by those with knowledge of the Three Kingdoms universe. The identity of the blindfolded boy remains a mystery until the end, leaving room for educated guesses (I guess we are looking for a sequel?). The dialogues are filled with fine details that closely resemble the history of Ancient China. It's understandable why some reviewers didn't rate the story higher, given the challenge of fitting a 400-hour story into a 40-hour game.

For trophy hunters, there are no missable trophies, but three roadblocks to getting the platinum.
    1) The first boss (Who the hell designs a first boss with two phases?)
    2) The boss riding a horse (appears halfway through the game, and you can't miss it. Unfortunately, grinding before this boss fight is out of the question, as I did not find an efficient grinding spot before the fight.)
    3) The final boss (If you care, you can grind to max level and make the final boss a cakewalk.)

    Some complaints:
There is room for improvement in the equipment system. While there are many options to choose from, only a few of them matter. Additionally, 1-star to 3-star equipment becomes useless after the first few chapters of the game.
I wish there were more tutorials available. Many of the game's mechanics are left unexplained, leaving players to figure them out on their own.

Very well done in my opinion the change of response times due to type of weapons and overall weight of the equipment and the fatigue system

    Speaking of flaws:
    - definitely the camera handling is annoying at some times,
    - perhaps it was possible to create a greater balance in the difficulty curve, better managing the alternation of challenging and easy bosses
    - some doubts also on the growth of character characteristics, which at the beginning seems to be a bit confusing

I have mixed feelings on Wo Long.
It's basically Nioh 3 with a chinese setting, but with some pros and cons.

Nioh-like character growt and equipment system, forging and upgrading are quite simple, but sometimes also not so intuitive.
Nice Level design, quite Nioh-ish but more vertical (another Sekiro influence).
Not-so-good graphics, levels and characters looks quite updated for a PS5 game (models from a DW game maybe?), but some bosses are very good in the other hand.
Boring story, jumps from the Yellow Turban rebellion into another 2 or 3 major battles with the elixir gimmick.
Main antagonist is another Kashin Koji wannabe, quite generic/lame.
But game was fun overall, looking forward to play the DLCs.

This game is simply superb. The combat is outstanding and the expiration is fantastic. Each level has so many interconnected path ways and secrets to find I can’t believe how well team Ninja pulled this off. My only con for the game is the story. I have trouble keeping track of the all the characters. Otherwise this is an easy recommend for anyone who likes souls style games and/or Sekiro.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a game which takes some time to warm up to, but when you do it unravels an experiance full of intense gameplay and challenging combat. It takes a different approach to telling a Three Kingdoms story and feels very much like it ties nicely into the world of Dynasty Warriors, which lands really well.

To compare this game to anything else, I would suggest

To compare this game to anything else, I would suggest considering this as a nice blend of Sekiro, for it's setting and split second parry style combat and Ninja Garden for it's loose, dodge-heavy gameplay. If you aren't a fun of crushing and hard games, this isn't the game for you, as you will die over and over. The first boss you come across is one of the hardest and cruelest starter enemies I've ever had to face and it forces you to 'get gud' right away to be able to beat him. I can see why some people really don't like this game, as it seems to have a "love it or hate it" reception. But if you like all things "Soulsbourne" and "Sekiro", you will feel right at home with Wo Long. Though, I suggest trying the Demo before purchasing as this gives a really nice idea of what to expect for this title.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a lovechild between Sekiro and Nioh games with some Chinese mythos and history sprinkled on the top. It is a truly great combat experience that is drawn back by somewhat convoluted storytelling, lackluster decisions to simplify magic and attributes and severe optimization problems. With that said, it is a really fun experience that any fan of the genre will surely love.
