Was so disappointed in the visuals of this game, especially since I got it for next gen consoles. Just wow, looks like a PS3 and Xbox 360 era game. Story is OK at best and combat can be fun but definitely gets boring after about an hour or two in. Bargain bin buy is my best recommendation if you like werewolves but besides that I’d stay away.

Game developers have a hard time in the Corona era. This game is also a child of this time and you can see it everywhere.
It feels like a pimped PS3 game. But that's a Series S / X that we have today.
You could get over that if you didn't have to pay 50 € for it. Make it cheaper otherwise nobody will buy it anymore.

Pretty basic beat 'em up with bad stealth elements. The plot is straight forward and basic. It's an ok game, but not at the current price point. Recommend only for huge fans of old school Werewolf and avid beat 'em up players.

It’s the environment vs the oil companies, youre a werewolf on a rescue mission, first to rescue the earth, and then to rescue your daughter.
This is a 6 hour long 3rd person stealth action game where you play as Cahal, basically the game is the same from start to finish, a mission starts in your little hub world, from a forest, to a desert, you run to the marker on the map, sneak into the oil field, onceinside there are guards so you have the choice of stelathfully sneak around, take enemies down from behind, transform into a wolf for a speed and to squeeze into vents, or at the very least you can sneak around to sabotage the influx of guards, as if things go wrong youll instanty transform into a werewolf…
At first being a werewolf feels amazing, you feel like you have god like power just tearing through enemies… and though there is a tiny skill tree here, there isn’t enough done in this combat to make earthblood any fun inside of its combat, youll find yourself trying your best to sneak through areas just so you don’t have to deal with what feels like an endless wave of spongey enemies… the basic enemies you kill in like one hit, but the large enemies and the enemeies with shields its just mashing and mashing until they are dead, making sure you take out the enemies with silver bullets as you cant regain that health during battles… thankfully sneaking around is satisfying, its fun to try and stealth your way through, though you aren’t given enough tools to make the charm of stealth even last, some areas stealth is just impossible, you cant take out every enemy in the game, youre given bolt that you can take out cameras with or head shot basic enmies, but even those you feel limited with what you can actually do, and in wolf form you can bark and hope you get the attention of the guard you want to move without giving away your position and forcing combat anyway.. as the enemy ai here just annoyingly hovers around your area and refuse to move if youre seen even a little bit, so a lot of the times after reading the room, to save time and effort I would just instantly go into werewolf form….
And ultimately the story here isn’t intriguing enough to want to pull you through its 6 hour run time… pretty lame boss battles, repetitive mission structure and even repetive environments and locations, the game looks and feels the same from start to finish, it never wows you with cool areas or levels.. its all the same… thankfully earthblood does have its moments of okay, this is pretty fun, it does feel great instantly switching into a wolf to sneak by enemies and take them out, but that fun if dampened by the spongey button mashy unfun combat..
I give Werwolf the Apocalypse Earthblood
    a 6.5/10

The story is not bad but very simple and even in its short playtime a bit repetitive. Without much hazzle I finished the game on normal within 6hrs and 80% of trophies. Now the game comes already at a budgeted price so that is something to keep in mind. There already sales for around 30 bucks making the short gameplay still somewhat worthy.

If you feel like shutting your brain off and delievering hefty gory blows then this game got you covered. Some mechanics are very good but not well used. Overall there is always a combat and a stealth path which is nice. The world does not give much variety but is manageable. On the bright side I did not have any slow downs on PS5, load times were excellent. I encountered no bugs and no bluescreens or freezes.

I can see this game being more brilliant on a modern engine. I guess for around 20 bucks you cannot go too wrong if you keep the simple gameplay in mind and lower your expectations a bit. I enjoyed my playthrough!

I was forewarned by other reviewers coming into WTAE and even having my expectations tempered by that still left me in a position of disappointment after playing the game. I barely made it past the first few hours before putting down my controller and thinking "is this it? Next-gen, my butt."

The graphics don't quite give away the game's datedness at first. The character models and buildings look okay but it's not exactly next-gen mind-blowing. Past these, the game really lets itself down with bland, generic, copy-n-pasted enemies and buildings. Many of these buildings have rooms that are clinical and hard to distinguish, becoming very repetitive, very quickly.

Unfortunately I can't say the gameplay is where it shines; the exact same problems hold it back. It plays more like it was made ten years ago. You basically proceed through the levels via stealth or combat to push a button and open a door. The stealth however is banal and not implemented well. I also discovered that it is optional and you can brute force your way through the levels. I wish this was a good thing but really whichever mix of approach you take, once you see the underlying patterns of gameplay it becomes hard to un-see. What I experienced was just room-after-room of soldiers and doors to open, again becoming incredibly repetitive, incredibly quickly.

The game also falls into dated mechanics such as 'shut down 3 generators to proceed', alerting me to the banality that lays ahead as I basically have to do the exact same mundane task three times.

The combat can be quite fun at first as you Incredible Hulk your way through enemies, however it quickly descends into Pokemon-esque gameplay, as you need to choose a certain stance to kill certain enemies, betraying any skill involved as I bounced off a shield because I was bored of changing stances every seven seconds.

There is actually skill tree involved, however it quickly became obsolete when I discovered that brute force got me through the game fastest until I got bored and gave up.

The story of the game is what shows promise. A familiar trope of being exiled after the first level only to return and save the day later is used, something we've seen a lot, most notably probably in the first Assassin's Creed game back in 2007. I didn't get to watch this develop because I gave up after a few hours and the game isn't worth suffering through for the story alone. Even at the start when significant people are killed it's brushed off pretty quickly and is forgettable since we haven't learned much about the characters or relationships yet.

Overall, WTAE is an odd game and not a very good one. It is definitely not worthy of being on the PS5 and harks back to the PS3 era and further with the game design. The consensus seems to find this game struggling to rise above average ratings and that is exactly where it belongs. Avoid even if on sale.

So i am near to finish. I enjoy it a lot but i have some constructive criticism meaning there is no "Hate" or bias in this review and i will offer what would make things better. (NO SPOILERS)

    Pros:
-The world and game's environment, they look beautiful and I love it especially the caern and how you interact with tribe members and how these members have their own stories (not explored in-game).

-The gameplay is fun and fast, I do feel that it is a little bit repetitive but we will get to that later.

-Lupus form is greatly enjoyable it is one of the best parts of the game.

-Crinos form is my favorite, fast and brutal just slice and dice lol.

    -variety in combos and Skills.

-The story is interesting and I loved the characters, cahal is a good protagonist and not generic in any way.

-Rage system is straight up great and it just not influence the gameplay, it influences the story and how you interact with people. (Like there are people who can trigger your rage bars one by one until you fill it and makes you transform only to kill everyone in the room, so beware).

-Transitions between forms is smooth and satisfying.

-performance is great, sure thing there is a few bugs here and there but nothing critical.

-It respected the lore of White wolf's werewolf the apocalypse.

    Cons:
-The Texture and animation are outdated (Which i understand because of small developers team).

-The RPG system is just bad from getting Skill points to upgrading skills. The thing is you don't get EXP points after every battle based on your battle performance like D is the worst and Z is the best so you get more exp point from Z. And it feels that it is just partially RPG. (This can be solved by removing the RPG system at all like you just unlock new skills and moves after just completing stages. Or enhancing the RPG system where you actually get EXP points based on your battle score.)

-The lack of variety in enemies and bosses. It just feels that enemies are all the same, the humans doesn't have varieties in weapons, the "Prototype people" are all similar and some bosses are repetitive like the werewolf bosses. (This can be solved by adding varieties to human enemies like flamethrowers, swords bearers (Ninjas) and other interesting weapons that could extend to extremely technological or even magical).

-The lack of combat impact, this one doesn't bother me much until i die from it. When you hit an enemy he/she should supposedly go flying, flinching or even moving. However in this game they have no reaction, they will continue their attack, hence your attacks will only reduce their health without any impact. Which means their attacks cannot be interrupted which is a major problem in combat if there are a lot of enemies they will for sure kill you if you don't dodge. (This can be solved by actually making the enemies impacted by your hits).

-Needed to explore more into the lore even though that one of the strongest point of the game is respecting the lore.

-AI is inconsistent, sometimes it feels that they are smart and other times extremely stupid. Especially in stealth.

-And finally the stealth. It is just too outdated, needs a lot of improvements and added gadgets would be nice too.

Side notes: Some reviewers said that the stages looks similar, i have to disagree, stages looks different, however, objects model are indeed copied and put throughout the stages. It just feels that every compute and table are the same.
It would have been nice to have a greater number of bosses with variety. Cause 7 bosses on a 12 hours playtime is not enough. Needed like 1 boss per stage.

    Conclusion:
Werewolf the apocalypse earthblood is a good enjoyable game. The gameplay is fun and the story is interesting. Sure thing the textures and animation are outdated but it is playable. It greatly respected the lore but it would leave some fans hungry for more. It can get repetitive sometimes and lacked varieties in enemies but overall you will have fun playing it.

Rating a 6 because I got it on sale on the PlayStation Store for only $12 for the PS5 version. It definitely is rough around the edges and is reminiscent of the graphical style of “Knights of the Old Republic” (to give you some perspective what to expect with this version) when it comes to the hub world and the way people talk.

This is a game that I wouldn’t feel comfortable spending $20

This is a game that I wouldn’t feel comfortable spending $20 or more on, however I had wanted to try it for a while now as it had piqued my interest and it definitely has an element of fun with it.

It would have been nice if the developers had simply used the lore of the tabletop game as a foundation or reference and then built upon it. It just seems too “constructed”, as if the lore were a book and they needed to make sure each and every page was done for the game. Obviously they don’t do that with movies, so it doesn’t work that well here.

Overall, not bad for around $10 but I would not spend any more on this title. It could have used at least another year or two in the oven so to speak, to tack on some much needed quality (textures, buildings, people, story etc.) to be considered “ready”.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood won’t be remembered for long and that’s fine – by the time I got to writing this summary, I couldn’t really remember it, either. It’s not terrible and I can see some great ideas just begging for a bigger budget. The stealth is poor but has potential, and the combat is simple, samey Prototype-esque fun that could have been more. The story and the presentation are the real let-downs here and you’d be better served throwing on some thrash-metal and muting the game while you play.

Not much more can be said about Werewolf: The Apocalypse: Earthblood, a good idea that deserved a lot more time and money invested in it. There's a "low-cost feel" in the models, text, dated textures and even how the levels' design is structured in biomes to give an idea of navigation, even though everything is essentially happening in the same place. These feelings were even more contrasting when I reminded myself that I was playing the game on a new generation console. It's worth it for the fantasy it explores, the possibility of shapeshifting from wolf to Werewolf, an enthralling creature that gaming has neglected for far too long.

I did have some nuggets of fun with Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood, but there's too much I can't ignore to recommend it to anyone, especially with the dawn of next-gen systems and titles that execute their concepts much better and simply look like what current games should be.
