    This game feels like I'm chewing through plastic. The only good thing about it is the battle system, but after probably 4 hours of playing, I can totally see this gets old pretty fast. As for the rest… the visuals are flashy, but very restrained, story is just one huge WTF so far (Odin being a bearded man in the intro, and now it's a gentleman in a white coat? What?…). The whole thing feels extremely "plasticky", no life, no enjoyment, just numbers and button mashing. Enemy AI is so braindead it's not even funny - you basically just fly between them and hit these couple of buttons (and do combos if you feel like you want to screw the camera even more - oh yeah, I forgot about the camera which is very very broken…).

    So yeah. Demo looked kinda nice, bought the full game, played 4-5 hours, and I can't really make myself spend more time on this. Money paid are money paid, but time is more precious thing, especially comparing to spending it on a game like this one. Oh well     … Expand

    I would usually write abit about my thoughts on the game and what it did well and what didn't for me, but seriously man...after Valkyrie Profile Lenneth and Silmeria they decided that this was just as good or better? Did they get anyone to play this? Did Square Enix just decided to go for huge supply of game releases over quality?     Not terrible, but very underwhelming.

    The battle system is solid apart from two problems: the animation locks that does not make tha game stand among other hack'n'slash games, and the unbalanced einherjar that makes the combat become utterly easy even on Hard difficulty. The good things end there: everything else in the game looks generic and half baked, the story being particularly weak    Not terrible, but very underwhelming.

    Valkyrie Elysium sets in apocalyptic world where the god Odin wage a war against his enemies. After a severe injury, Odin created a female Valkyrie to fight for him and to prevent the so called Ragnarok.

    In the Prologue you will be introduced into the world. From there on, the fighting mechanics will be explained. After the tutorial you receive the mission for saving the world. The    Valkyrie Elysium sets in apocalyptic world where the god Odin wage a war against his enemies. After a severe injury, Odin created a female Valkyrie to fight for him and to prevent the so called Ragnarok.

    In the Prologue you will be introduced into the world. From there on, the fighting mechanics will be explained. After the tutorial you receive the mission for saving the world.

    The level design looks average. Somehow you can see the apocalyptic moment behind the levels but at the same time i only saw the ruins and buildings with low interior design. It is hard to see detailed traces of the human mankind. But i have to say that im in VE for 7 hours. That's why i cannot say if the level design keeps staying like this.

    The main character itself is a new born person and this might be the reason why there are no much characteristics of her. The protagonist has only the goal to fulfill the mission. This reflects an attitude that makes it not easy to win a certain insight of her and identify himself/herself with the protagonist. Nevertheless, in the course of time this might change.

    The graphic is on a more or less standard level. Even if it is from Square Enix who brought out FF7 Remake with outstanding story and graphic design, VE doesn't reach the same graphic level of FF7 Remake. I find this so strange why Square Enix didn't pay attention to this issue. Or did they? I can't tell for sure but the circumstances show that the graphic design was a minor aspect of the development process. Here, i have to admit that i played the ps4 pro-version but i played FF7 Remake-Pro-Version as well and even FF7 Remake cuts a better dash than VE.

    Even my explanation before sounds so negative, the fighting style is very great. It is a free fight system which reminds me of FF7 Remake and other titles like Tales of Arise of Scarlet Nexus. The skill tree helps to develop your fighting style and expands the attacks and counter attacks.

    The soundtrack isn't so remarkable but it is ok. It serves his purpose. On the one hand, the japanese synchronisation is great and helps to keep the interest in the conversation parts. On the other hand, the faces look a bit rigid while they talk.

    VE is not a real open world title, so don't expect to go around as you want.

    Conclusion:

    VE makes a lot right concerning the fighting system whereas the level and graphic design is more on an average level.

    This is just avarage game. That has nothing new to offer. No, combat system is not good. Silmeria for PS2 has beter combat system.

    The story leaves a lot to be desired. I am about half way thru the game and yet I haven't really felt a since of urgency. I think I have an idea as to where the story is going. Yes, the game is short (12-13 hours), but that doesn't mean you can't flesh out the world a bit more. Hell, the Einherjer have more substance than the main character. I know she is supposed to be like that, but a little more about her creation and/or training would help.

    The camera can f**k off and die in this game. Too many times did I get caught in a corner and just resulted to smashing the square and circle buttons to get free.

    I would probably be a bit more fond of this game were it more like 29.99 or even 34.99, but a 59.99 game this is not worth. Luckily for me I borrowed it from a family member and I recommend you do the same.    … Expand

    I enjoyed this game at first, but the combat gets dull really quick. This is mostly because that's all there is to do in the game. No real exploration, not much dialogue, no towns to explore, and, more importantly, not much time spent on character progression.

Probably 95% of my time was spent on combat. If you like that you might like the game. But I didn't. It made the combat get old and repetitive real fast, and it didn't have the depth to carry it - mostly because there's only one playstyle. Even on hard, I find myself just mashing air combos, and soul chain, not much to it.

    Side quest system is horrible- you can't do side quests on your way of finishing the main missions, you have to "exit out" and "Accept" the sidequest while you enter the stage - worst QoL I've seen in a game in 20 years.

    Not really a good game. I wouldn't recommend it until it's $15 on sale, which it will be within 4 months. I gave it 3 points for good graphics, nice atmosphere, and good music.    … Expand

    Soleil have taken the bizarre decision to turn one of the most beloved cult classic RPGs of all time into a cheap, forgettable third person action game. We have enough of those. This game falls flat on everything that made the original games great. Characterization, art, story - you can tell even Sakuraba mailed it in for this one.     It's really just kinda meh, it's a linear hack and slash game, the environments are bland, the soundtrack is boring, the characters are uninteresting, and the whole thing just feels very low budget.

    Buy it if you like mindlessly pressing buttons, I guess, but this is a far cry from the brilliance of previous entries into the Valkyrie series.

    Blend and generic as an low budget game can get. At some parts it looks ok in others just terrible. Tube lvl design, forgettable story and combat wich gets boring after a few minutes. Square can do better than this…

    Very repetitive and pointless, the game world is on rails and every action feels completely banal and devoid of satisfaction. There is no strategy, just random button mashing and shut off brain, which is fine if that’s what you’re looking for.

    This game is a total disaster. It completely sullies the name of the valkyrie profile series back on the ps1 and ps2. It is not even an rpg anymore, more like an action game. I think their budget was a bag of chips and a couple of trident layers gum sticks. Stay far away from this failure folks

    Comprei a edição de luxo na pré-venda para ter acesso antecipado após testar a demo.. e me decepcionei.

    O jogo tem duração de aproximadamente 15h (com todas as side quests, nv hard) e, na minha opinião, nada que faça valer a pena para voltar a ele novamente. A dublagem é boa, mas não está sincronizada com a imagem. O gráfico (joguei no ps5) deixa a desejar.     Sadly, the game also suffers from technical issues, like some annoying framedrops and pop-in of objects in the    Valkyrie Elysium is an entertaining game, with a strong focus on fighting. I’ve only heard about it and so many fans of the older games said to me that it plays like Golden Sun. This game doesn’t remind me of Golden Sun at all. It’s nothing like it. Overall, the game just needs more to it. The chapters are too short and don’t offer much to explore In the areas. The enemies are fun to fight but it lacks enemies. They need more to give us a more significant challenge. It’s too small of a game but I think it’s pretty solid. Nothing that I would recommend as a must-play.     Aprecio muito a adição de múltiplos finais, ajuda manter a duração de vida do game.

    Olhando como uma série a parte, é um jogo agrádavel com 6,5/10, agora se você olhar como um jogo da série Valkyrie a nota cai bastante, 3/10.
    Enfim, torço para que venda o suficiente para reviver os anteriores atraves de remasters/remakes e que seja colocado de volta na mão da tri-ace, se quiserem manter a saga "Elysium" como um spin-off, pode ser uma boa adiação, mas como substituto do "Profile" ele nunca será!    … Expand

    This game is a steaming pile of garbage. It doesn't even have the AAA quality to justify the $60 price tag. This whole cel shading art style is just an excuse for developers to be cheap and lazy. When I pay $60, I expect a game with top notch AAA quality. The combat is boring and repetitive. The story is a joke. The physics are beyond horrible. The animations are atrocious.     Aside from the rough camera controls this is a solid game. If you're looking for a JRPG with good combat, mindless fun, and a series that has always had great storytelling then ignore the bad reviews. It's most likely someone who was salty over another PlayStation exclusive that didn't make it's way to Xbox.

    I think with this game you really need to know what to expect. I thoroughly enjoy the combat, the summons and the overall pacing of the game. However, it isn't very long and the price seems a bit steep. However, if you are looking for a very solid and flash action RPG this one is great and it had a really nice story and cast of characters

    Valkyrie Elysium’s world and characters based on Norse mythology are fascinating, and its speedy combat is exhilarating. It’s too bad that the title feels like it could have used a little more polish, and the button mapping doesn’t match the game’s systems. The game lacks a bit in volume as well, and its world and characters could have been fleshed out even more.

    I was excited going into Valkyrie Elysium because of what I had heard about the series. While after my time with it that excitement certainly has dulled, not because of the combat but just because everything around it just kind of felt ‘meh’. If the world was more populated or at the very least more interesting there would be much more here to really sink one’s teeth into, as it stands once players are done doing Odin’s bidding they will find little reason to return in my opinion.

    Valkyrie Elysium brings the series into the modern era, even though the story is rough, and the levels are a bit bland. I want to see more of this, but hopefully with some of the more major faults fixed.
