Aug 30, 2023Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy may not be a title on everyone's lips but it's certainly game of the year material. With a wide variety of abilities and mechanics and astoundingly adaptive gameplay (especially for co-op play), it's quite the achievement in game design.

Sep 1, 2023Although I did experience some technical issues during cutscenes, like screen-tearing and occasional audio glitches, the rest of the journey went off without a hitch. The comedic story and dialogue are delivered with just the right amount of wit and whimsy, with zany characters that are brought to life with solid vocal performances. While the combat leaves some room for improvement, the dynamic puzzles, inventive hero skills, and visual splendor more than make up for its minor shortcomings. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the Trine series or simply have a penchant for co-op puzzles and are looking for a new challenge, Trine 5 does not disappoint.

Aug 29, 2023Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is more of the same, and we love it exactly for that reason. Players who are familiar with the adventures of Zoya, Pontius and Amadeus know exactly what to expect and will certainly leave satisfied. And for players who aren't, this is an opportunity to embark on a magical world filled with puzzles. The experience is even better when shared with friends, either in local or online co-op.

Sep 11, 2023Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is a good contender for being the best title in this renowned series, thanks to the introduction of multi-phase boss battles and new abilities for our heroes.
-
Aug 29, 2023A "more of the same" that will surely not disappoint fans of the series. Even if some small novelties can be glimpsed, Trine 5 does not change the cards on the table that much and offers the classic mix of platforming and physics-based environmental puzzles. Very pleasant to play in single player but even more fun in co-op, but the series is starting to feel the need for real evolution.
-
Sep 23, 2023Trine 5 continues on the foundation of the previous games and offers just a bit more variety thanks to the expansion in character abilities. The puzzles are also more varied and the build-up in difficulty is enjoyable. All this together makes Trine 5 a fine platformer that we can recommend although we should note that the combat segments do not reach the level of the rest of the game.
-
Sep 19, 2023While Trine 5 doesn’t completely overhaul the series, it adds enough improvements to take the series to its most complete form. Whether you are playing alone or with a group of friends, Trine 5 offers hours of entertainment that can be hardly matched anywhere else.
-
Sep 18, 2023If you’ve enjoyed the Trine series up to this point then you are in for a treat, Trine 5 is by far the best entry yet, offering puzzles that are phenomenally inventive and an utter delight to solve. If you haven’t taken the plunge yet with Trine, then now is the perfect chance. If only we could ditch the combat and have twice the puzzles, then truly would Trine reach co-op puzzling perfection.
-
Aug 30, 2023Trine 5 treads the same ground as its predecessors and falls prey to the same shortcomings, but it's a solid co-op puzzler that has some gorgeous visuals and is a great time.
-
Aug 29, 2023The game takes the familiar formula of the series, featuring compelling puzzles, chaotic combat, and perfect presentation, and sticks by it. With a whole new campaign and a wide variety of fresh and familiar abilities, Trine 5 appeals to series fans both new and old.
-
Aug 29, 2023Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is an awesome sequel that keeps the good times rolling for one of the best co-op puzzle-platformer series out there. This set of puzzles are some of the strongest they’ve ever been, and boss fights are creative and original – even if those highlights are occasionally cut short with snooze-inducing combat sections and a predictable story. It may not do much to innovate beyond what we’ve done four times before, but Trine 5 plays to its strengths extremely well and makes some important tweaks here and there that definitely make it worthy of a playthrough or two.
-
Sep 4, 2023Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy does not propose anything truly innovative for the series, but what Frozenbyte proposes is solid enough and the small innovations are still pleasing.
-
Sep 15, 2023Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is certainly not straying far from the sharp puzzle design the series is known for. It is a very familiar experience that might wear thin. There's some clever ingenuity on display and I managed to be kept interested by it. Combat still remains an afterthought and it almost feels like an intrusion on the puzzle solving. Cooperative play offers the most fun is but the solo experience is still engaging. At times, pacing can waver but the overall package remains good.
-
Aug 30, 2023A highly competent platform puzzler that’s starting to play things a little too safe, especially as it refuses to address long-standing issues like the bland combat.
-
Aug 29, 2023Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy isn’t a bad game by any means. In fact, it’s rather good. We can’t help but feel that it doesn’t do enough to prevent it feeling like another retread of familiar ground, however. If you love the series and simply want more, good news: this will deliver it. But those hoping that the formula might be well and truly shaken up in this sequel will be left sorely disappointed.
