Graphics are great but considering the price of the game it's a slap in the face that the combat mechanics are so terrible, wish I would have saved my money for Dead Space remake, I played until after the water treatment section of game and uninstalled it cause It was just not fun to play, anyone saying that good graphics make a game fun is lying to themselves.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolutely loved it. Graphics are one of the rare games out on ps5 worthy of the next gen label.
    Combined with the sound it creates a great atmosphere. Levels are mostly linear but I did not mind.
    Story was a bit thin/generic but sets up nice for sequels.
    I would have prefered some more variations in the enemy types. And the combat needs some tweaking to better deal with multiple enemies.

    Absolutely terrible. I'd give it a 0 but that would honestly be unfair, it has some good elements. I really wish I could refund this.

    I'm not sure how a company could mess up a survival game after creating Dead Space. It's the same ingredients just a different recipe!!! Wait for this game to go on sale. Not worth $70 to buy it. I'm really distraught, this game let down my expectations so hard.

    Very disappointing considering this game was made by Dead Space creator.
    Dodge system is worst on any AAA game. Makes combat not fun.
    This game has no bosses at all, except one mini boss copy-pasted multiple times....

    Callisto Protocol is an amazingly beautiful game, that can be fun to play. However even after several patches it is almost unplayable a good portion of the time. During fights my cross-hair became possessed and i lost all control of Jacob, this also happened during most large/ boss fights. And this became a norm thorough the rest of the game.     DEAD SPACE hace todo lo que hace the callisto protocol pero mil veces mejor. El sistema de combate es absurdo y nada satisfactorio. Gestión de inventario - inexistente. Del doblaje ni hablamos.     This is a bad game, everything has bad systems design and lazy choices made throughout. These include placement of store, inventory mgmt, system balancing/progression, weapon balancing, randomized loot, save point choices, and enemy type placement. But the cardinal sin is imprecise combat.     It feels like the dev team are not survival horror fans and failed to understand the ethos of the genre, or they were just blinded by their clout of being the OG Dead Space guys that they thought they could do no wrong.

    I really wanted to like this game because in a world where there is mass consolidation of dev teams, I wanted an independent studio to be able to output something great, but this is not the case here.    … Expand

    2 points for great graphics, but the story is derivative and dull. The combat is so poorly designed. I was so excited for this as a Dead Space fan and I don’t mind that it’s not like DS, I mind that this is a garbage game underneath the nice graphics. Did they not play test this at all? What a waste of $70. Will never buy from this studio again, sorry Glen seems like a cool guy but this is2 points for great graphics, but the story is derivative and dull.     Atrocious combat, level structure of a large intestine, bland story, worse camera than is the case with Souls in boss encounters… The only PS5 title I regret buying. This is nowhere near Dead Space and for all the wrong reasons.

    Casual gamer here. The game is very aesthetically pleasing but (as others have complained) the combat I found was cumbersome and detracted from the experience. The plot was okay, but I felt like it wasn’t anything special and you could predict where it was going pretty early. Some people may like this game, but the fighting of recycled enemies felt to me more like a chore than anCasual gamer here. I didn’t feel a sense of that I had perfected any skill out dodging timing after overcoming dying many times, rather it was a feeling of “thank god I can move on from that stupid encounter.” Lastly, I didn’t really feel scared. I was more scared to die and have to replay parts than of a bug jumping out of the umpteenth chest. I don’t think I’d recommend this at current price.… Expand

    The Callisto Protocol has faced criticism claiming it is a "Dead Space clone". Well, after playing it, I wish it was. Truth is, this is some of the worst combat I've ever seen in a modern game. Not to mention, the game feels uninspired, isn't scary in the least, and is full of Uncharted-esque moments that are incredibly dated. The game sucks.

    I thought this would become an issue early on and this was confirmed during the first boss arena. The combat mechanics are garbage - slow and sluggish, making this game incredibly frustrating to play. Absolutely terrible.

    I really wanted to like this game but unfortunately it was disappointing. Checkpoints are annyoing and I don't know who came up with this absolutely clanky dodging System. The only thing that scared me were the encounters with more than one enemy as the controls are just annoying and the character so slowly that it was just not fun anymore. 4 points for the graphics but I didnt even finishI really wanted to like this game but unfortunately it was disappointing.     This is the worst game I've ever played in my life!!The sense of attack is poor, there are few types of monsters that keep repeating, the control is not normal, the PS5 FPS is seriously insufficient, the story has no beginning and no end, the picture expression level is low-end, the horror game is not scary at all, and it is a waste of money and time.     It looks good That's about it though. Stories of jarring mess in every way. Combat is a glitchy mess. And the greatest sin of all is it's not a horror game in the slightest even though it was advertised as the heir apparent to dead space.

    This game is so far away from the Deadspace series in every aspect. While the game looks good, there is no real gameplay. While the sluggish controls add to the feeling of struggle I found them more frustrating than engaging. I found myself holding sprint the entire time.     Très bon jeu :
    graphismes au top, ambiance sonore travaillée et irréprochable.
    le gameplay est déroutant au départ mais on s'y fait au bout d'une heure, même si c'est vrai que c'est un peu limité.
    C'est un jeu d'ambiance horrifique avec ses défauts mais pour un 1er jeu c'est franchement très réussi, j'espère une suite !

    I didn't find it fun neither scary, why?
    1.- Lack of enemies. 2.- No jumpscares. 3.- Weak environment (not disturbing at all) 4.- Soundtrack was not creepy. 5.- Gameplay is predictable and slow.     The game story is good and the level and map design is beautiful and it plays great in standard mode but the combat is awful even on the easiest difficulty with accessibility options the game is simply almost unplayable when it comes to trying to switch weapons or break away from multiple enemies. Screw this game

    i was looking forward to this game even with the not so great reviews so when i got the game at 50% off i thought it wouldn't be so bad but boy was i wrong. How on earth did the developers get this whole combat mechanic approved?? i've been an avid gamer for over 30 years and it is by far the most dismal clunkiest combat system ever. you can barely move when you're engaged with an enemyi was looking forward to this game even with the not so great reviews so when i got the game at 50% off i thought it wouldn't be so bad but boy was i wrong. I will give it point for story and and graphics but there's also a drawback with the weapons upgrades, you practically have to scavenge for credits and it's just a very underwhelming mechanic. Again i don't know how these things were approved and some aspects of the game do seem very amateurish. personally i think the game was developed by people with very little experience and it shows in this game… Expand

    Ну, и что это за херня!? Я хотел поиграть в хоррор, а не в дарксоулс!! Основной сюжет еще так себе, а вот DLC это полное разочарование! Враги практически не убиваемые первый минибосс тот, что типа робот вообще не обиваемый зато он персонажа убивает с двух ударов. Разве это хоррор от которого игрок должен пугаться, а не что бы его бомбило от неубиваемых врагов!!Ну, и что это за херня!? Я хотел поиграть в хоррор, а не в дарксоулс!! Основной сюжет еще так себе, а вот DLC это полное разочарование! Враги практически не убиваемые первый минибосс тот, что типа робот вообще не обиваемый зато он персонажа убивает с двух ударов.     Basically, a low-budget dead space, without the creativity, really difficult to master, the combat is ridiculous, and the amount of ammo, etc is nonexistent.
    Trying to run away without Auto dodging is stupid as hell, and stealth is impossible vs moving zombies.

    Paid homage to so many different games it ran out of cash to buy itself an identity. Very pretty but story and gameplay leave so much to be desired

    The character moves and turns too slow and feels clunky. Focussed on Melee, shooting is more for finishig the enemies. No Map, and a very very bad save system. I don't finished this game because the Bossfights aren't fun. But it has nice graphics

    Callisto Protocol makes some mistakes, but in general computing the good wins by far. It is true that it is somewhat angry to see that something with so much potential has not been fully squeezed, but what it offers is already much more than most. We trust that combat system that we have loved and its setting to make the game worthwhile and we would love to see a second installment.

    A visually beautiful sci-fi experience which, surprisingly, doesn’t resort to simply cloning Dead Space. The difficulty and the fear factor both don’t reach the heights I’d expect, however. A shame! It could have been extraordinary.
