    And all of the customisation, the staple of the series, returns in the background – allowing you to build your own team, right down to the minutiae like uniforms and logos. While there’s no shortage of pre-created content, Super Mega Baseball 4 will reward those willing to invest the time to personalise it exactly how they want it. It’s that, paired with its very entertaining arcade gameplay loop, that ensures this fourth instalment doesn’t drop the ball – even if it never quite feels like the seismic upgrade we’d expected when developer Metalhead Software was acquired.

    When it comes down to it, Super Mega Baseball 4 is improved, but not that improved. I’m not looking to downgrade, and I kind of wish I was playing it right now instead of writing this. However, I still have a wishlist for the next installment. This one feels like such an unneeded upgrade. Most of it feels like it could have just been in a patch. The more appreciable additions weren’t must-haves, and some elements feel more rickety. I guess what I’m saying is that Super Mega Baseball 4 gets on base, but it’s definitely not a home run.

    Repetitive gameplay and no sense of progression hamper an otherwise fine entry to the series. Super Mega Baseball 4 could be better if there was more to do than the same thing over and over again.

    I have owned all 4 releases of this series and have played each extensively. This is the best one date. For anyone who has played these games in the past, that should be enough said. If you haven't played this series and MLB The Show just isn't quite your thing, give this series a try. Game play is outstanding while the graphics go back to the old days of MLB Power Pros with a more polished and refined look. The addition of a lot of old time MLB player is welcomed, but the traditional Super Mega crew is still intact. Fantastic effort with this release and although it is a little pricey, I'm going to say that is worth every penny if you are a hardcore video baseball fan. Ignore Jacktronics review, another example of Metacritic troll that hates EA, Is an Xbox honk, and couldn't write a legit game review even he did actually play the game for more than an hour.… Full Review »

    If you plan to customize this game, don't!

    Unless you can patch this yourself, you'll be waiting through EVERY menu.
