Super Mega Baseball 4 is a very fun if not one of the best baseball games. And Metalhead did a great job by not having too much microtransactions and improving the gameplay and the core. What's more is improving the customization options, improving the depth and having the legends. Making for one very fun baseball game.

I have owned all 4 releases of this series and have played each extensively. This is the best one date. For anyone who has played these games in the past, that should be enough said. If you haven't played this series and MLB The Show just isn't quite your thing, give this series a try. Game play is outstanding while the graphics go back to the old days of MLB Power Pros with a more polished and refined look. The addition of a lot of old time MLB player is welcomed, but the traditional Super Mega crew is still intact. Fantastic effort with this release and although it is a little pricey, I'm going to say that is worth every penny if you are a hardcore video baseball fan. Ignore Jacktronics review, another example of Metacritic troll that hates EA, Is an Xbox honk, and couldn't write a legit game review even he did actually play the game for more than an hour. Expand

I'd like to say that I like this game, but it was rushed for release. It's buggy as Hell. As you select teams, it usually takes 10-15 seconds for the next player/team to show.

If you plan to customize this game, don't!

Unless you can patch this yourself, you'll be waiting through EVERY menu.

EA continues to destroy good game franchises.

A really fun playing baseball game that mixes arcade with authenticity while featuring some of the sports most legendary players while featuring satisfying pitching and batting mechanics. The new and returning ballparks look great too and add to the environment. However, lack of features like a proper create-a-player mode, Home Run Derby mode and even something small like Replay Mode leaves Super Mega 4 Baseball just shy of a Grand Slam but is a good solid swing up the middle for a base hit to give the team the lead.

And all of the customisation, the staple of the series, returns in the background – allowing you to build your own team, right down to the minutiae like uniforms and logos. While there’s no shortage of pre-created content, Super Mega Baseball 4 will reward those willing to invest the time to personalise it exactly how they want it. It’s that, paired with its very entertaining arcade gameplay loop, that ensures this fourth instalment doesn’t drop the ball – even if it never quite feels like the seismic upgrade we’d expected when developer Metalhead Software was acquired.

Super Mega Baseball 4 is a sports game suitable for multiple types of players, be it the more casual ones who want to play a game without too much stress from time to time or those who want to jump into multi-season leagues with the need to manage the entire team from multiple angles. It's not a huge step forward from the previous chapter, but with the many modes and its light-hearted style, it's a good way to enjoy baseball without having to throw on the more realistic MLB The Show.
