Honestly was the worst money I spent this year ! Very disappointing, had loads of potential but was lazily executed and was pretty average . Nothing new . It’s like a very cheap version of persona 5

OK but repetitive game that doesn't offer anything new, a mix of SMT and Persona (a bit darker and less sociability than persona) but dungeons way more boring, uninteresting and annoying characters with boring backgrounds (I can't stand Milady). Ok to play a few hours until you realize is the same over and over. Was on the fence until I got to play it first-hand. True successor to the original Soul Hackers. This being a devil summoner and not a mainline or persona game which everyone will compare to it. Devil Summoner has had solid advancements in making its on mark on Megaten series. This games adds a new fresh interface and new but enduring characters while being in a similar setting of Soul Hackers but tons of new approaches to the gameplay. For instance in soul hack 1 you picked and fused you demon party while in 1st person without seeing more than a icon sign when choosing a party members actions. This game takes that approach and makes it sparkle by adding animations for summoners and summons but as a successor it in fact let's you use actions as skills from demon equipped so its pretty similar to the original but goes for its on style from to pieces. Overall very engaging story with heartfelt voice acting in english. Yes I play in English because we have to support the effort of atlus localization. These are top tier voice actors from the small pull we have in the states. Thank you for reading my review. Expand

Perfect blend between Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series (I have played SMT 3 & 4, and Persona 3, 4 & 5, but i do not know Soul Hackers 1). I have completed the main story in 46 hours, and i have still plenty to do for a 100% completion.

Pros : + Interesting dark story with great characters + Neat graphic style + Nice soundtrack + No annoying calendar "à la" Persona + Good

    + Neat graphic style
    + Nice soundtrack
+ No annoying calendar "à la" Persona
+ Good length, not too short, not too long
+ Choice between Japanese and English voices (+ several language subtitles choices)
+ Some cool options, like the possibility to adjust the distance of the camera
+ You can save your progression at any time
+ Great classic JRPG turn based combat system with few new features
+ 4 different difficulty settings (the game is quite easy, so do not hesitate to select Hard or Very Hard)

    Cons :
    - Not very original in the end
    - Dungeons design could have been better
    - Few quests are only available in NG+, which means you can't achieve 100% in 1 playthrough
    - Irritating and annoying costly DLCs (with exclusive Personae and a new story chapter...)

It's not the best game of Atlus. It has to many problems in the order of design level, and the combat difficult it's not well balanced.

Dungeon crawling has some caveats thanks to QoL misses and visual repetition; Storytelling can feel low budget towards the start of the game and writing can feel clumsy; The encounter rate can be obnoxiously high.

    Thoughts-
While Soul Hackers 2 does have several problems that feel frustratingly unnecessary, and hold it back from achieving the greatness that it often hints at, the final experience feels well worth the time. A great cast of characters, intriguing story, snazzy UI, excellent soundtrack, strong aesthetic and art style, and incredible battle system are all enough to help Soul Hackers 2 rise above its several issues, and deliver an RPG that is well worth playing in the end, particularly for JRPG and Atlus fans.

It can be seen from ordinary works that the budget of the production team is not much, but some designs in the game can let you feel the inheritance of the previous classic works, so I like it very much.

Solid game with the classic feel of an old SMT game. Feels as if anything without AAA levels of graphics, social / dating aspects, and writing is automatically viewed as a bad to OK game. The story isn't anything new but offers a likable cast with cool designs and art style. The dungeons are pretty repetitive and don't offer much in terms of visual variety, but there's plenty of side-content to keep your busy and get your money's worth. The gameplay for this turn based RPG is really well done. I love the games aesthetic. The monsters, main characters, NPCs,and backgrounds are really well put together to create a living breathing world that is about to become extinct. This my first review in a while because I have stage 4 metastatic appendix cancer that moved to my colon. My work will get bet better as I write more reviews.

Fantastic characters, story, and gameplay. While I wish press turns weren't removed in favor of sabbath, there's not much else I can complain about. Approachable difficulty for newcomers and interesting characters/environments. The game is very pretty. Soul matrix could stand to be better/more interesting though.

Thus, ATLUS managed to create a playful and technical implementation with the new title "Soul Hackers 2". We experienced an interesting story with many ideas and moments. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. More derivative weeb garbage from a company that hit their peak almost 15 years ago. Once Kazuma Kaneko and Shigenori Soejima got pushed out because they wanted to keep Persona games dark so that they were more similar and faithful to mainline SMT, Atlus went to hell. More repetitive uwu for virgins who watch anime to escape from their mundane lives. This is a hard pass for anyone over the age of 16. Expand

I genuinely really like the main cast and their designs are stellar. While the main plot is a bit predictable, the characters more than make up for it. Combat wise this game does NOT use the Press-Turn system most SMT games are known for. Instead it uses a modified version of the "Demon Co-op" system from Strange Journey. As for the character building it gets quite in depth as it actually opts for a Persona 1/2 style system where each party member can switch demons and even learn their own unique Devil Summoner skills specific to them.

The only real mark I have against this game that I have (that's an issue with the game itself and not the horribly egregious DLC practices) is that the dungeons are pretty bland visually. However the layout of the dungeons is pretty standard fair for SMT.

This time, ATLUS didnt miss and capitalized on recipes that worked for them. They took a bit of what everyone likes in SMT and Persona series, and you get Soul Hackers 2. An enjoyable experience, that will for SURE please Personas fans and JRPG enjoyer.

If you dont like it, its not that the game is bad. Its that the game is just not for you. This is a great synthese of what ATLUS does best. They did not intend to provide the biggest JPRG experience ever, they did not intend to release their best game ever. They did almost not communicate about this game. It feels like they just wanted to release a good game, and to enjoy his creation. We (once again) feel the love they gave to the game, and this is why we love what usually ATLUS does.

If you are a fan of the SMT/Persona series, just go, you will not regret it. Cool story, good characters, usual but still enjoyable and satisfaying fights, insane musics, like : this is an ATLUS JRPG, so this is good.

It feels good to have a new SMT before we get Persona 6 news !

If not for the interesting cast of characters and beautiful cyberpunk world, Soul Hackers 2 would truly be just a poor man’s Persona game. If you hate grinding in JRPGs, stay away from this one, but if you absolutely love fusing Personas … uh Demons until you find the perfect party, Soul Hackers 2 is quite serviceable in that aspect.

An intriguing story, interesting battle system, and signature art style is usually a good combo, and Soul Hackers 2 is no exception. It is easy to get lost in the story or side-quests and enjoy battling a variety of demons. For anybody enjoying Atlus' other turn-based titles, this is definitely a must-have.

Soul Hackers 2 is a surprising sequel. But another surprising thing is its accessibility and openness to the new players of the whole Shin Megami Tensei franchise. If this is to be your first one, it’s an excellent step to take.
