    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As I highly appreciate this title, I subscribed mainly to provide a counterbalance to the (legitimate) negative opinions.

    My comment will be brief: I loved almost everything about it, but especially the fact that I felt represented as a 30+ year-old guy.

    This is the first time in my experience that I encountered a game whose characters (in my opinion, excellently crafted) conveyed problems and feelings I can relate to at this stage in my life.

    I believe this game revolves around relationships, both friendly and romantic, from an adult perspective, without the emphasis on family that Western games tend to have. (I'm generally uninterested in Western games, but that's another point.) It's a game with a narrative centered on friends and lovers, well-written and mature. The only character lacking in this regard is Arrow, I fear. But aside from him, the story is about characters and their loved ones, especially evident in the world-building and all the texts that appear during "social links" interactions.

    The ending itself, with its significant lack of depth (probably rushed for budget reasons, as I can't think of another explanation for the criminally disregarded elements of the plot that don't receive resolution), tells a tender story of someone who wasn't emotionally ready to love.

    This review primarily focuses on the writing, so it's time to mention the other pros:

    + The game system is very polished. The team behind Tokyo Mirage Session seems to excel in this field.
    + The Sabbath system might seem dull, but I spent the entire game strategizing when and with which variant to activate it to optimize combat – meaning it is meaningful. In other Megaten games, "all-out attack" and "extra turn" are merely things I aimed for but seldom used. They are a goal rather than a means, and I appreciate means in game design. That said, I'm not disparaging all-out attacks or extra turn mechanics; quite the opposite, I love them.
    + I personally think the soundtrack is great, but I understand that many may not share that sentiment.
    + As previously mentioned, the overall writing and characters.

    Cons:

    - Some elements of the story remain unresolved in the finale.
    - Three dungeons are essentially the same, and while I didn't find it unbearable, I didn't appreciate it either.

    If you have the time and come across a good deal in the store, I recommend giving this title a chance.    … Expand

    If you like endless exposition, endless still images blabbing and no fun or gameplay you might like this game...Actually it not a game its a visual novel with a few hours of turn based gring tacked on...I gave after 10 of thus dum shi7 story being shoved down my through whilr the contoller sat on my lap barly being used. Other games in this series ballace story and gameplay, but not this game.

    I wasn't expecting another Persona (although the trailer vibe resembles it) but rather something new derived from SMT. as the first game is very obscure and didn't age well.

    In the end, indeed it ia different but not in a brilliant way. The plot and characters are just average, the gameplay and battle system are too shallow and the few dungeons are boring, dull and uninspired.     The game is pretty good and solid, I like how the fusion works and the cast is one of the best in the Megaten world, The dungeons are pretty mid, more specifically, the Soul Matrix, however I like the fact they also provide a closure for each character providing or reading their future, however from time to time the game can be very boring

Atlus is like Square Enix in terms of quality they just like to play around with darker topics, which don't appeal to everyone. The storyline is solid and both Japanese and US voice actors are top notch.     Boy do I love dialogue. soul hackers 2 has so much of it. There are lots of dialogue options, which reminds me of mass effect in a good way. This game is an amazing sci fi jrpg with a fascinating premise, fun combat, very compelling and memorable characters an awesome story and excellent writing that ranges from hilarious , biting and inspirational . Soul Hackers 2 also reminds me of TalesBoy do I love dialogue. soul hackers 2 has so much of it. There are lots of dialogue options, which reminds me of mass effect in a good way. What you do is targeting weaknesses, seeing no good animation, and at the end of the turn making a sabbath attack depending on number of weakness hits.     I am satisfied with the sequel. Although the style is approximate, some game designs are still the same as before. The game combat system has also been improved very well. The music is very good. Generally speaking, I recommend it.

Once Kazuma Kaneko and Shigenori Soejima got pushed out because they wanted to keep Persona games dark so that they were more similar and faithful to mainline SMT, Atlus went to hell. More repetitive uwu for virgins who watch anime to escape from their mundane lives. This is a hard pass for anyone over the age of 16.… Expand

    Great Presentation, characters, and interesting story. Sabbath is great take on the press turn battle system. Lots of customization options for each characters. If this is your first SMT game, rest assured that it will be relatively easy and intuitive experience, as enemy weakness/resistances will show up everytime after you have triggered them through previous battle.     This game is great. The Vibe rocks, the pretitlescreen song opening slapps hard (And the in game music as well). I love the characters, Especially the MC Ringo, atlus should do non silent protags more often she was Great. And its the typical great Atlus turnbased combat, (Also the story is quite good as well.)

    If you dont like it, its not that the game is bad. Its that the game is just not for you. This is a great synthese of what ATLUS does best. They did not intend to provide the biggest JPRG experience ever, they did not intend to release their best game ever. They did almost not communicate about this game. It feels like they just wanted to release a good game, and to enjoy his creation. We (once again) feel the love they gave to the game, and this is why we love what usually ATLUS does.

    If you are a fan of the SMT/Persona series, just go, you will not regret it. Cool story, good characters, usual but still enjoyable and satisfaying fights, insane musics, like : this is an ATLUS JRPG, so this is good.

Temper your expectations - this is NOT Persona. I heard that the difficulty is a bit easy for the most part so I turned the difficulty up to Had and found that the mechanics provided are so wellSolid game with the classic feel of an old SMT game. The story isn't anything new but offers a likable cast with cool designs and art style. The dungeons are pretty repetitive and don't offer much in terms of visual variety, but there's plenty of side-content to keep your busy and get your money's worth. Hoping they continue the Soul Hackers series and revive or remake more SMT games in the future.… Expand

    The gameplay for this turn based RPG is really well done. I love the games aesthetic. The monsters, main characters, NPCs,and backgrounds are really well put together to create a living breathing world that is about to become extinct. This my first review in a while because I have stage 4 metastatic appendix cancer that moved to my colon. My work will get bet better as I write more reviews.

    If not for the interesting cast of characters and beautiful cyberpunk world, Soul Hackers 2 would truly be just a poor man’s Persona game. If you hate grinding in JRPGs, stay away from this one, but if you absolutely love fusing Personas … uh Demons until you find the perfect party, Soul Hackers 2 is quite serviceable in that aspect.

    An intriguing story, interesting battle system, and signature art style is usually a good combo, and Soul Hackers 2 is no exception. It is easy to get lost in the story or side-quests and enjoy battling a variety of demons. For anybody enjoying Atlus' other turn-based titles, this is definitely a must-have.
