    Amazing game! It is super different from the other sonic games but you can feel fresh ideas through the game all the time. The graphics are good and appart of the popping, it looks good.

    The fps mode it’s stable and the story is very interesting for a sonic game

    Wow, i couldn't have imagined during the previews or from past games that i would enjoy this so much. It's so fresh and yet it brings back feelings from when i was a kid with some of it's music notes or story telling.. yet the story isn't goofy. It's somber and sad and yet in the face of it Sonic doesn't lose hope. I think they did a fantastic job on this game. My only complaint is theWow, i couldn't have imagined during the previews or from past games that i would enjoy this so much. It's somber and sad and yet in the face of it Sonic doesn't lose hope. I think they did a fantastic job on this game. My only complaint is the visuals which are incredibly lacking.. this feels like it needed a bit more time in the oven. Character models are too simplistic, environments although fun to navigate have extreme pop in, textures are high quality but the geometry and population of foliage is simplistic. Rain which is what you'll first experience in the game looks god awful, it looks like they overlayed animated noise over top of the image. However despite all these visual gripes the gameplay saves it completely, the sonic stages are exremely fast and short which makes you comfortable with restarting from the beginning to get a better time score. solving all the sometimes simplistic sometimes challenging puzzles around the world and climbing to great heights is thrilling and addictive.

    I really really hope you don't miss out on this game like i almost did. I'm an old man now but i remember the days of sonic goofily saving the day from dr eggman in sonic adventure 1 and 2, this feels like that game all grown up.    … Expand

    A great step in right direct for blue blur. Surprisingly engaging story coupled with amazing vocal tracks makes it truly a fun experience. Can't wait to see what Sonic Team has in store for us in their next game.

    this IS the best 3d sonic game. everything is big and its fun to explore. Big games with open world will lose me at some point but not sonic. it is fun every second. if you like sonic games, then you MUST buy this. its soooo good! the best part of it that its not only full speed all the time. you can slow down just like mario 64. just walk around and look at the world. and boom, you rethis IS the best 3d sonic game. everything is big and its fun to explore.     I love it! The world is sooooooo huge. There is a vast world to discover. A lot of things to do. A very intriguing story. I recommend it. I would put a 9.5, because of the pooping, but we don't have that option on metacritic, so I'll put a 10.

    So, uh... this game is Amazin'?

    I did not expect to love this as much as I did, and this is comin' from someone that Loved Sonic Forces!
    But this game is just on another level!
    Everythin', the Story, the OST, the Cutscenes, the Gameplay, The Bosses... there wasn't a single thing I disliked 'bout this one, and I'm still in awe on how much this made me feel good!

    In an age where everything is taken literal, Frontiers takes a steep dive into the symbolic. Through mesmerizing imagery and grandiose music, the director confronts the players with their struggles in faith and understanding.     The Sonic stuff is the best I’ve played; the controls are tight, the speed is fast and fun, the open world and the cyberspace levels are excellent. It’s “Breath of the Wild” because the open world is fun to explore, and you’re always running into new puzzles and collecting things that make you stronger by increasing your power and speed.

    It’s “Super Mario Odyssey” because you’re always solving little overworld puzzles to get some reward, very similar to the Moons in that game. It’s very rewarding and motivating.

    Critics have criticised the visuals. Again, I don’t know what they’re smoking. Maybe their standards are too high? Not every game has to look like God of War. I think it looks really beautiful and impressive. It’s true that there is pop-in on the overworld rail puzzles, but even this is not nearly as bad as some critics have said. Did they play a pre-patch version that had worse pop-in than the release date version? Because what I played is really not that bad, you can see many rails and platforms far into the distance.

    Some critics have criticised the combat. Again, what on Earth are they smoking? The major bosses, like those in Shadow of the Colossus, are equal parts puzzle and awesome spectacle. They’re freakin’ rad. And the general combat with smaller enemies is so much fun - it’s so deep now, it’s crazy. Sonic has so many cool combat moves (that you unlock through rpg-style progression), and it’s just fun to earn them and toy around with them. The only games with deeper combat are those that are dedicated fighting games, like Devil May Cry - is that what the critics were expecting? And it’s honestly surprisingly not that far off. Yes, I agree that some enemy designs could be more interesting, but there actually are some really cool enemy designs in here already. Anyway, the critics have lost the plot. The game is bloody good. I’d recommend it to anyone for the full asking price.    … Expand

    The islands are all pretty well designed and movement works well. There's some jank because of the mesh collisions, there's definitely some things to overlook, but the Open Zone is a solid 9 for me.
    It's comparable to the good open world games like BoTW and Elden Ring, imo.
    It's not really fair to call it open world, cause it is indeed an open zone thing, it's one of those things you really have to try in order to understand.
    The game controls better than it looks like from videos, mostly because some animations are pretty stiff.
    The Cyberspace stages are 50/50, some are extremely lame, the 2D ones specifically, some range from good to OK.
    The best ones come from SA2, obviously. The few original ones are okay, I wish they dared more.
    The controls in Cyberspace are "fine" in 3D but completely ass in 2D.
    Cyberspace is a very small portion of the game nevertheless, and 100% that side took me 40 minutes at most.

    The SuperSonic boss fights are the best in the series, hands down, wish there was a boss rush mode.

    Overall? Pretty good game, definitely my GOTY. Adventure fans this is for you, kinda.    … Expand

    The game is just so much fun, the concept is very well thought and exploring the islands is definitely a joy. I loved the story throughout and just didn't want to put the game down until I was done with it around 20 hours of playtime later. Definitely my game of the year and it's not close, I haven't they much pure joy from a game in years.

    I new fresh form to play Sonic, the level design is oustanding, a lot of things to do with some beatfull enviroments, the sound track is absloute amazing, some tracks is just in your head for days. The atmosfery is very unique, and the controls are very simple and fast, the combat system is very good and make sense to the high velocity of the Sonic. The histoy is very insteristing and giveI new fresh form to play Sonic, the level design is oustanding, a lot of things to do with some beatfull enviroments, the sound track is absloute amazing, some tracks is just in your head for days. The atmosfery is very unique, and the controls are very simple and fast, the combat system is very good and make sense to the high velocity of the Sonic. The unique bad thing is the engine needs some improove to stop with pop up some plataforms in the horizon, it is some kind of bug if you consider the high perfomance of the atual systens.     While this game isn't as polished as many other releases this year, I was absolutely hooked to this game enjoying every second of the 26 hours I have played it for, there was never a dull moment and I am so excited to see what a more developed sequel could do.

    Great game. And even better soundtrack. The game is an awesome and much needed change. First triple A Sonic title since Generations and it shows. Much better storyline, and fleshed out characters. Gameplay is fun, though can feel repetitive at times, it never feels grindy. Sad to see Dunky fanboys review bombing because of his videos, but that's how it always goes with his negative reviews

    This is easily the best Sonic game in the last 20 years. I'm 6 hours in and can't put it down. Open zone is a winning concept and Sonic Team should be commended for finally nailing the 3d Sonic formula. I'm very surprised this isn't an 80+ with the critics, but don't skip if you're on the fence. It's worth every penny.

    Love this open zone sonic games, lots of fun and just what Sega needed to do. I note a percentage of expert reviews who have rated it down just because it's sonic. It's laughable otherwise this gets a metacritic score of 8

    Sonic just works in this new formula. He's never felt faster and the mature, serious tone of the story works wonders in rejuvenating the franchise for fans of the earlier 3d adventure titles. The voice acting does have the odd delivery here and there but more frequently it is treated with a gentle and careful tone, leaving behind the goofier over-exaggeration for a more nuance and egotismSonic just works in this new formula. He's never felt faster and the mature, serious tone of the story works wonders in rejuvenating the franchise for fans of the earlier 3d adventure titles. The voice acting does have the odd delivery here and there but more frequently it is treated with a gentle and careful tone, leaving behind the goofier over-exaggeration for a more nuance and egotism delivery, this from every character. The music is particularly superlative in this entry: while the cyberspace boost/2d levels are energetic and exciting, the overworld music on each island is a delight that never wears out its welcome. The highlight which demands attention is the super sonic boss themes. These are consistently heavy and exciting modern djent/metal tunes and they capture the hype of the series staple final boss battle tracks, minus the usual cheesiness. My only gripes with this game are fairly minor ones- the pop-in is pretty noticeable at high speeds, but it's never an issue as you can still see things well in advance no matter how fast you're going. Also newcomer Sage is an interesting and engaging character and adds a brand new depth to Eggman that we've never seen before, but she isn't given the time to properly develop and events ar the very end of the game are paced so poorly that writer Ian Flynn forgets to give the cast a proper send-off and acknowledge the impact of this new character. The ending feels very rushed and I wish it was given more room to breathe, as while my platinum 100% playtime was a relatively short 25 hours total, I was able to connect with this new character and enjoy(for the most part) the returning cast but feel they did not receive a properly thought out resolution. All told, Sonic Frontiers is the perfect package to reignite the interest of gamers in this languishing gaming franchise. 9/10. Adjusted to 10 to fight bombing post-dunkey retards… Expand

Es is seit langem mal wieder ein guter Sonic Teil bei dem das spielen auch Spaß macht. Sonic steuert sich sehr gut und das Spiel läuft flüssig also hier auch keine großen Beschwerden. There's room for improvement, but that just makes me more excited for the next step, 'cause I absolutely love the direction they are going for.     One of the best Sonic games to release in the entire run of the franchise. Fun world and levels, excellent controls, great visuals, along with a good story and fantastic character writing. Sonic is back and this game makes me excited for his future.

    Beautiful. It's different kind of vibe. Open-world mini puzzles climbing for resourses with actually speedrun stages that you have to finish stage in about a minute for a S rank. Music makes feel nostalgic being a teenager once again. Beautiful.

    It has it's problems like all games but it's Characters and Writing is finally something that is Sonic, the gameplay is super fun and Open Zone lets you feel you play on a big Zone and also finally feel you are Sonic. The bosses are super raw and easily some of the best in the franchise. Music is also super great. Bug potential for the future

    Amazing how reviewers and zoomer morons will flip their sh1t when a game not associated with Nintendo has bugs, but start defending when the world's highest grossing media franchise (Pokemon) puts out a game that has just as bad or even worse bugs and glitches.

    Don't ever tell me Nintendo bonus doesn't exist.

    Would have given this an 8, but thanks to Dunkey's fans I had to change it to a 10. The only things holding this down from a higher score are pop-ins and the final boss fight being pathetic. Other than that, it was really enjoyable and I hope Sonic Team does another open world game again... with less issues though.

    Hits all the right marks for a franchise which had previously struggled to find success in story telling and engaging 360 degree gameplay. A memorably experience and will go down as a classic in the sonic fandom.

    The game has a plethora of technical issues, but Sonic Team should be rewarded for making a fun Open-Zone experience that is a wonder to explore. Open world games are the obvious overly saturated corner of the gaming market, but certain games find a way to bring a new level of enjoyment out of it, one of the main factors being HOW you can explore it and the    7/10 for polish, 10/10 for fun.

Just look at Spidey on PS4: web swinging is a blast. And with Sonic, drop dashing and boosting across beautiful landscapes is endlessly entertaining.     this game is the pinnacle of the franchise, whether in terms of story, gameplay, music, it's almost perfect and I loved every second of the experience.
    I just didn't think the art direction was very good, I thought the scenarios were pretty good, visually.

    The most fun I've had with a Sonic game since Adventure 2. I'd give it a 9 but the fun factor and the music outweigh the pop in issues. Which were my only problem with the game. Include the no cringey voice acting for the first time in almost 20 years and this is an absolute winner.

    Sonic frontiers is One of the best sonic games since Unleashed and Sonic generation, I had an absolute enjoy from start to finish and i loved this game i hope the series continues in this direction but better.

    But in either case, I have been able to use the multitude of abilities I have to reclaim my balance/safety on the map. You tripped? Boost or double jump out of it to rebalance.
    You missed a railing? Double jump back and stop spamming boost everywhere. The game becomes natural to control once you give it the chance. We are talking about the worlds fastest hedgehog, and even then the game provides option to those who prefer not to go so fast. It’s a great game direction for Sonic, my only real advice is that the game be a tad less corny and even then that’s just another Sonic trademark.

    Please pursue this direction for Sonic, Sega, as it will continue to revive this series so many of us cherish and love. And I hope the constructive criticism will set itself apart from review bombing.    … Expand

Feels a lot like Arceus in that it's a good start to something great, just needs some things fixed and there was some jank but not enough for me to say it's unplayable. The combat is alright, cyberspaces sometimes get boring, the music is one of the most powerful in Sonic franchise, also the same words goes to the bosses, they are so lit and brutal, never have been expected to play THIS kind of Sonic game. Probably didn’t like the sometimes abrupt change of camera to 2D in open zones, boring platforming sections, the feeling of common emptiness, sudden FPS drops and the retail price. Also did not expected the insert of comics characters in the mainline story and the final boss gameplay, it's just awkward. The story narration is finally turned out to be interesting, the characters seems to be more mature and finally started to being like old themselves with the really interesting interactions with each other, but sometimes the main storyline and lore can get very very WTF not in the good way. Well, in general, I can say that the game left an incredibly positive impression about a Sonic game and i really hope that the series will go on in the same direction but with some major improvings on the way. I really hope that Sonic will stay enough long to end not in a rough, sad way.    … Expand

    El juego mas divertido, adictivo y mejor diseñado de los últimos 20 años, desde el principio mundos llenos de variedad, puzzles, carreras y desafíos a cada cual mas loco, hacía años que no me lo pasaba tan bien con un videojuego, este es el camino sin duda para SEGA, esto ya es historia del genero de plataformas en 3D.

    Este me parece el mejor sonic en 3D y quizas en general que hemos tenido
    Una zona abierta increible con islas que tienes que pasar horas para tener al 100%, no aburre, es intuitivo, poco a poco mejoras en el combate y sabes mejor que hacer para tener mas velocidad, la ambientacion y la musica es increible como en todo sonic, los cyberspace la verdad me gustaron porque el mundo abierto me    Este me parece el mejor sonic en 3D y quizas en general que hemos tenido

    There is nothing remotely redeeming about this game. Nothing that even the most die-hard loyal Sonic Fans would or should advocate for. I hope that one day someone who cares enough about this franchise could give us something-anything of substance. A fan can hope, can’t they? A fan can hope.

    Finally, after almost 25years of half measures and mostly mediocre titles, Sonic has finally reached the 3D levels of gameplay it needed to reach. Yes, the pop in is absolutely inexcusable and the ancient gatekeeping grindy methods damage the flow of the game for no reason, but a wonderfully built base exists here, with a highly entertaining adventure in wonderfully melancholic world and a surprisingly well founded story, thankfully clean of Sonic’s annoying 3rd tier friends!
