    Just spent a considerable amount of time writing an extremely long review but it wouldn't post so here's a quick one.

    The game is okay as long as you never ever use your sniper rifle but that's why I bought it and I'm mad. The domino of consequence, should anyone be allergic to your presence is very harsh. But it's almost impossible to go unnoticed using your sniper rifle

    I can't continue playing this game. It is almost like they forgot to make the game revolve around sniping and long distances. This is a ton of hallways and room to room combat There is no way you can engage without an alarm going off or being spotted then it's time to take o like 10 guys at once which nukes the immersion.     Not much has really improved in SE5 at all other than authentic mode, multiplayer is utter trash invasion mode is plagued with cheaters who can spam your location even before invasion phones are able to be used. Personally invasion phones are pointless and so are all of the easy modes as I beat the game on authentic an that is the best way to get your money out of the game.

    Anything multiplayer that isn't no cross is pretty much people running around and SMG-ing everyone


    Its like they really don't care about making anything actually fun in multiplayer why even add it into the damn game if you're not going to really invest any actually talent into making maps or flusbing out some good sniping maps.

    We buy a stupid clone year after year of a game and you give us stupid multiplayer and cheesy invasion mode that you ruin either by over thinking it as in invasion mode or utterly doing nothing as in multiplayer.

    Even survival mode is stupid as hell its pretty much defend a HQ and survive an the only point of the HQ is for ammo and medical care.

    Even in the stupid campaign their are way to many collectibles and bugs that still aren't patched.

    I'm really getting tired of buying games either filled with cheaters and or being bugged all to hell in back. Rebellion clearly just pushes out a mediocre campaign an weak multiplayer for a quick cash grab.

    Its time they let Karl die off and actually do something new other than giving us new missions each release or some stupidass zombie game whoch is more than played out by now they have absolutely zero creative talent or thinking skills.    … Expand

    Worst of the series by far. A trudge through unimaginative areas, poor games design and buggy AF. How they made it actually unpleasant to play after SE4 is a mystery...so disappointed

    FULL OF BUGS! Just cant keep playing it. I had to repeat two different levels because I was no able to exfiltrate at the end. The 3rd time I just throw the game away.

    Besides, the sniper make so much NOISE that you are not able to use it.

    Just a rehash of SE4 and the multiplayer is already a dumpster fire with PC cheaters ruining the experience for everyone. Turn off crossplay and you lock out Xbox which means there are very few lobbies you can play in. If Rebellion's history is anything to go by, they will do nothing about the cheaters. Time to go play a better quality game I think.

Although the individual areas are larger- but they are mostly unsuitable for "stealth play". And in addition to the catastrophic topography (especially in villages/cities hardly find any hiding places) comes the sometimes INSANE amount of enemies. Rebellion should have focused on the strengths of the last parts and consistently continued them in France instead of chasing the multiplayer trend. The only thing that is the same in the new part as in the parts from 2014 + 2017 is the graphics quality (even though I played the new part on PS5!)

    Enemies are so bullet spongy and they will spot you through a wall half a mile away. Using your sniper is almost pointless in the 5th game of a series called Sniper Elite, make it make sense. I don't know how you found a way to take a step back with the franchise the way you did with this game. Hopefully some updates give this game the CPR it needs.

    a considerable amount of things are worse than they were for 4, and only a few things are any better. It looks much better but its a new generation. This company still uses manipulation tactics, so they can steal peoples money. AVOID!

    Enjoyed this game alot, played the majority of the campaign in co op mode which is seamless. Invasions is a highlight of this game most definitely. It is in many ways what you may have come to expect from SE games set in new areas with gameplay and graphical improvements. Though for some it not might be the jump you are hoping for it is still a great step forward for the series.

    Stealth mechanics are amazing. The gameplay systems are pretty impressive and the AI is pretty good. Sniping is as satisfying as ever. Gory X-Ray kill cams. Gunplay is improved from SE4. Level design is amazing (very similar to hitman). Maps are large and varied. Great amount of freedom in how to tackle objectives. Each map is brimming with side content, optional objectives,    Good-

    Story and writing are extremely underwhelming. The game does not look great. It definitely needed a bigger budget cause the game lags behind in graphics. The progression system feels bland and uninspired.

    Thoughts-
    Sniper Elite has been steadily building up to greatness over the last few installments, and with this newest game, it comes as close to achieving that stature as it ever has been. In fact, if we approach it purely from a design and mechanical perspective, even the somewhat less engaging combat and other fringe issues don’t really detract from the fact that it pretty much has achieved those lofty ambitions at this point. While Sniper Elite 5 does have some issues, the core gameplay and design are so incredibly engaging and consistently responsive to the player, it very much stands as one of the better stealth experiences in recent years, and easily as the best Sniper Elite game to date.

    Oh, and the sniping feels pretty darn good, too.    … Expand

    Horrible graphics that are very clearly downgraded from the trailer, horribly paced and confusing story, crappy gameplay, janky controls, and infinitely spawning enemies make this game nowhere near worth the $60 they’re asking. This game is a joke and clearly the end for sniper elite. It’s obvious they have nothing left to offer.

    Seeing this game getting such a low user score is non sense.
    I've been enjoying it a lot so far (mission 7)
    It has nice graphics, smooth gameplay, a variety of play styles, AI is pretty nice (imo the best I've seen in a while), ...
    Story and cutscenes are pretty average and do not add a lot to the game.
    Sometimes a bit linear and invisible walls.

    I score it an 8/10.

    I was not expecting much from the trailers, i was expecting pretty much the same game just in a different place, but man am i glad i got this game (I was wrong). The changes to the bullet ballistics, gfx upgrades, and new game modes really sold it to me after the fact. I am a history nerd so I thought that it was pretty cool that they didnt censor this release like they have in previous titles (Swatikas, SS, etc) The story is quite interesting and each mission has tons of objectives to complete on huge maps that you can tackles in a non-linear way. You can spend over an hour on each mission on the easiest difficulty or fly right through them (your choice). There is also custom difficulty, say you want authentic bullet ballistics but you want full hud; you can do that. The Axis Invasion is probably my favorite part of this game. I wont spoil it for anyone but make sure you turn it on before starting your missions ;). This feature is EASILY the best feature in the new release and should be a staple in the franchise from here on out. I am a long time veteran since v2 and i have got to say that this is my favorite game yet! I really hope to see another release sooner than before (5 years) but if i have to wait, i will and thats okay.… Expand

    New game engine and horrible gamely compared to previous versions. Played Sniper Elite 3 and 4 to completion and has so much fun. 5 I spent 2 frustrating hours on my PS5 and sold the game. The game appears to be open, like the previous versions, but is very much a corridor shooter. And the default controller configuration is very different and unintuitive. Skip this one.

    Very bad! After Sniper Elite 4 was quite good and enjoyable I expected a lot form SE5! But, game is worse than SE4 in any way you can imagine (except gfx).

    I love this game series, the fact they’re creating in this genre and there’s an audience for it shows the major studios not everybody gives a sh*t about Fortnite run and gun. I only wish the game had a couple of things fixed and then it would of been perfect for a WW2 era shooter. 1.     1. Absence of stock weapons for factions, I guess they’ll come with DLC. I would of liked Enfield MkIV for the single player campaign first time through.

    2. Being able to attach and remove a suppressor for the side arm DURING the mission without need for a work bench. You had this option in previous version of this series.

    3. More HUD options, removing the cross hair and cover ‘halo’ to allow the graphics be more immersive. The maps are reminiscent of Hell Let Loose - beautiful towns and villages (houses have actual decor!). Being able to edit HUD to remove the cross hair, like other game franchises would really help.

    4. Character skins. More options to look like an allied soldier? A ranger, or paratrooper? What gives with the Rangers’ uniforms? Everyone has an LT. bar on shoulder and is also a sergeant? The Axis uniforms are very good. If only for some decent US and British uniforms and webbing… again, I refer to Hell Let Loose or Post Scriptum.

    Enemy AI is so random that they either all run into your fire in a straight line or hear a suppressed shot from everywhere on the map and proceed to target your exact location with relentless precision.

    The sad thing is there is a great game underneath all the mountain of bugs, but there is no way we'll ever see it 'cos they ain't fixing all this.    … Expand

    Worst installment of the franchise by a long mile. Gameplay is brutal and no fun at all. The AI in this game is comically bad. Fancy new gen of gaming consoles and the first Sniper Elite game on them is an absolute BUST. I wish Matacritic let you give negative scores, how could the people working on this game let this happen?

    Must admit, I'm not the biggest of fan of the series, but I wanted to give this one a fair shake. Had a decent time with this, but at the end of the day it's suppose to be a sniping game, but the best way to play this is with SMG's. Story was boring and I literally skipped through them. Bullet time is cool as usual though.

    I enjoyed SE4, but rage quit this game in level 2. It doesn't know what it wants to be. It basically feels like having the low resources of Agent 47 from Hitman, but then you're thrown into a level from Call of Duty. Do you want me to shoot everything that moves? In which case, give me the tools to do so, including a proper aim mechanic. Or do you want me to stealth my way through, inI enjoyed SE4, but rage quit this game in level 2.     The graphic is acceptable, but the cut scenes aren't worthy of a ps5 game. The weapons are ok but the stealth mode is practically impossible, you'll be discovered immediately even if you use the sniper from a long distance. Almost impossible to start a full-sniper mission, you have to move in small zones and you have to use the silenced guns. The final mission is embarrassing, no other words necessary.    … Expand

    For people new to Sniper Elite 9/10 - Great range of weapons, the locations and landscapes are freaking amazing, so much detail and variety. Combat is easy to pick up and only as challenging as you need it to be. Typical mission can be cleared once you master the route and only do main objectives in 20-30 minutes. But, first time run, 100% the mission, all side objectives, exploringFor people new to Sniper Elite 9/10 - Great range of weapons, the locations and landscapes are freaking amazing, so much detail and variety. Combat is easy to pick up and only as challenging as you need it to be. Typical mission can be cleared once you master the route and only do main objectives in 20-30 minutes. But, first time run, 100% the mission, all side objectives, exploring everywhere took on average 3-5 hours. Plenty of replay value with invasion mode. Well recommended to play this before then going back to explore the previous games.

    For experienced Sniper Elite players 4/10 - Apart from taking away fun things like crouch-run and trip wires, It's just too easy, especially Authentic mode which is barely a challenge now for experienced players (I cleared the entire campaign on authentic in a few hours yesterday and this afternoon). Too many opportunities for sound cover, but you barely need it because the audible range of weapons is so low its ridiculous. In SE2 - SE4 there were many instances I sat patiently waiting for a plane to fly over, or a vehicle to pass to mask my sound, in SE5 I didn't even bother sound masking 95% of the time even on my Authentic run (although I did run with the Deslisle Carbine). The audible range of weapons is just whack, its maybe fine on easier levels but on authentic, sniper rifles having audible range of 20m is stupid. There are still scope hints on authentic for some reason which defeats the whole point, and the multiple entry points make missions a breeze. Game desperately needs Authentic+ for experienced players with no scope hints and better audible ranges for weapons.

    I think the fact that sniper elite 2, 3 and 4 have platinum rates of about 3-6%, but 5 has a plat rate of ~20% says it all.    … Expand

    Sniper Elite 5 features the same great stealth combat that fans of the series have come to adore, even if its story and all guns blazing approach leave a lot to be desired. A few new upgrades like Axis Invasion mode and enhanced weapon customisation are welcome additions, making killing Nazis still damn fun.
