Game is fun and soundtrack is incredible. The problem is that the open world is so bad on this kind of games. We are litteraly walking between zones for 5 min after each missions, plus the low framerate and load screes its so horrible.
You too should focus on the main game and dont make any secondary missions, they are a lose of time to do.
And idk why but we oneshoted the final boss

Enemies are hard and the action is not exhilarating.
    Too much loading.
Characters are not attractive. Character designs are too different from the past.

This game captures the gameplay and charm of the first but has some notable flaws that impact gameplay.

Pros: The Music is Amazing The Story and cutscenes are fun with lots of side quests All characters are voice acted well, even the dialogue is mostly generic between the characters (During game play other characters use either Misako or Kyoko's dialogue) Combat and gameplay
This game captures the gameplay and charm of the first but has some notable flaws that impact gameplay.

    Pros:

    The Music is Amazing

The Story and cutscenes are fun with lots of side quests

All characters are voice acted well, even the dialogue is mostly generic between the characters (During game play other characters use either Misako or Kyoko's dialogue)

Combat and gameplay are true to the original

    Cons:

There are a lot of random trees, beams and other non opaque objects in the foreground of the game that obstruct the player's view. These add no value to the game and hinder gameplay.

The game also occasionally slows down or lags, this was especially bad in online Multiplayer where enemies would disappear or my character would be teleported to a different part of the screen.

In single player the game animation will occasionally slow, and while not terrible the load times are also surprisingly long for this type of game on the PS5

    Overall.

I am enjoying the game a lot in single player but occasionally finding myself frustrated by lag and obstructed views. The online multiplayer was more disappointing. I am hopeful that future patches can address some of these issues but as of launch the is only mediocre.

Really love all the seemingly infinite references to old Kunio universe lore, other games, movies, memes etc, and the very humorous dialogues !!! RCG2 even added the voice option for Japanese, which suits its origin so much better !!! Overall an awesome beat-'em-up that fans should definitely not missing out !!!

I had my qualms going into River City Girls 2 because I hadn’t played the first game in the series and wasn’t sure if I’d be able to pick up on the story. Do I have to play the introductory game? Who are the Girls, and where is River City? Well, I got the answers to these and other questions as I progressed through the game, so if you missed the first one, too, you may relax.

If you’re familiar with WayForward’s previous work, you’ll know that River City Girls 2 is a side-scrolling beat ’em up in the old skool style, like Double Dragon. To throw a wrench into the review’s first paragraph: no, things aren’t perfect. Let me take you down to the seedy underbelly of River City…

River City Girls 2 is mostly a refinement of the first game, and there’s honestly nothing wrong with that. While there are new characters and stories to enjoy, the core combat and gameplay remain relatively identical. However, some of the quest glitches and the game’s high price point hurt it at launch, making it a tough sell to purchase at full price for what amounts to a ten-hour experience. Even so, River City Girls 2 is a fun game to knock out over a weekend, especially with a good friend, and I hope Wayforward Technologies considers giving Misako, Kyoko, and friends another whacky adventure in the future.

Choppy performance aside, while there’s nothing particularly revolutionary here it’s hard to lament a lack of meaningful changes when beating up bad guys still feels this good. [Issue#24, p.75]

If you love the first game then you should probably wait for updates and a price drop before picking up River City Girls 2. And if you never played the original game before - check it out first.
