Quake Remastered is the perfect return of an instant classic: if you've never played the game in the '90, this is the chance of your life.

Quake is a seminal shooter that helped define the genre, but it’s definitely starting to show its age. It’s well worth experiencing the campaign, but its design and enemy placement can occasionally feel unfair. Just as well, the multiplayer is difficult to get into if you’re not already familiar with it.

A huge shot of nostalgia for those who grew up on classic FPS games, this 90s throwback is more than accessible for modern gamers, however the lack of any narrative to keep you engaged may be off-putting to some.

I am happy to be able to play this great classic. It is amazing how well this game has aged.

    Pros:
    - slightly improved visuals and models
    - ability to select addon from the game
    - added original music
    - added mod support
    - multiplayer horde mode and matchmaking
    Cons:
    - much worse performance in comparison with other custom engines with the same level of graphics (fte, quakespasm, darkplaces, etc.)
    - new bugs: some projectiles can pass through monsters without dealing any damage (especially noticeable with shamblers)
    - models are improved only for original game and not for addons Dissolution of Eternity and Scourge of Armagon
    - tons of redundant intro videos
