Dec 5, 2025Slipping up on its premise, Project Motor Racing failed to deliver a competent and realistic racing experience. While it has qualities such as its selection of cars and tracks, as well as customization options, several things fell short. These include an uninteresting visual style and problems with gameplay and customization. In the end, the game is still a minimally interesting option for fans of the genre, but nothing more than that.

Dec 1, 2025Overall, Project Motor Racing feels like it lends more toward an arcade-style experience than the initial hype suggested. Whilst it does feature an impressive curated library of vehicles to drive (and they all sound fantastic by the way) and a decent enough career mode, it lets itself down in several ways. The AI drives on rails and is not friendly; they do not like being put two wide through a corner and will defend their line at all costs. There is also no radar or effective spotter, which makes driving in cockpit or hood view pretty dangerous when things are getting tight on track. Whilst it is a playable game on a controller, it just is not the benchmark simulation racer that it was touted to be.

Nov 28, 2025Disappointment is an understatement when it comes to Project Motor Racing. Vehicle control, sub-par graphics, and cost all contribute to the calamity that is PMR.

Nov 28, 2025As a spiritual successor to Project CARS, Project Motor Racing takes a major step forward in car handling and environmental feel, but at full price, its limited content and lack of guidance make it an underwhelming experience.

Nov 26, 2025Project Motor Racing shows promise, but lacks the spark that could have taken it further. A promising foundation in need of polishing that will finally give it a real personality.

Nov 26, 2025There's a lot of good and a lot of bad with Project Motor Racing. The handling is unique and challenging, while the Career Mode and online ranked license system are different and unique. The range of cars is great for fans of racing over the years. More will come with DLC in the future, but the various physics elements for the different cars provide something most console racers haven't experienced. The development team really wants to make this as close to the real experience as possible, but unfortunately, the LMDh class is broken and undriveable. The ultimate immersion breaker is just how frustrating and atrocious the AI is, and they can't even be bumped out of the way, all while pushing players around. The online races are fine before release, and having a custom lobby system will be a plus. It's also cross-platform, so the lobbies and races can have the maximum possible players. Project Motor Racing has big issues that hinder the experience, but the GT Cars are worth experiencing.

Nov 25, 2025Project Motor Racing is a visually impressive, no-nonsense sim designed for the hardcore crowd. It's punishing and demanding, yet deeply rewarding for those willing to master its steep learning curve. That said, the game lacks flair and the absence of mechanical damage is a missed opportunity.

Mar 16, 2026Project Motor Racing shows clear ambition in trying to deliver a serious racing simulation, with detailed cars, demanding driving physics, and a focus on authentic track experiences. However, technical problems, inconsistent AI behavior, and a lack of polish often undermine that potential, making the experience feel less refined than it should be. As you spend more time on the track, it becomes clear that the game has solid ideas at its core, but struggles to fully realize them.

Dec 10, 2025Unfortunately, the only real positive to be said for Project Motor Racing is its strong selection of cars. Beyond that, it’s disappointing in nearly every respect, showing clear signs of having released far too early in its development cycle. The visuals are subpar, the AI is virtually nonexistent, and the handling is noticeably problematic. There are plenty of other issues as well, but to keep it brief, it simply can’t compete within the demanding genre of driving simulators.

Dec 4, 2025Project Motor Racing clearly wants to emulate the likes of Project Cars but simply doesn't have the breadth of content or options to live up to that expectation. It's tricky handling model can be a handful on controller and I just don't quite get the oomph from the throttle that I'd like. That said, I did enjoy trying to figure that out. It's surprisingly tense and sharp to require that much focus behind the wheel. The career mode lacks some flexibility and, on the technical side, there's a lack of polish that can make things look and feel dated.

Nov 28, 2025Right now, Project Motor Racing feels like an early access game that hasn’t actually been identified as such. There are certainly glimpses of a competent racing sim here, but it is drastically unfinished. With time, and its mod browser, I sincerely hope it can be fashioned into something that can fill the void left by the long-delisted Project CARS 2, but it's an entirely mediocre single-player racing experience for now. Project Motor Racing may have positioned itself as the heir to the Project CARS 2 kingdom, but it is simply not a better racer than its 2017 ancestor.
