    It may not be a huge step up from last year's PS4 release but Nioh 2 Remastered - The Complete Edition is a great edition of a fantastic game that fans and newcomers alike will love. That is; if they can handle its high degree of challenge.

    A commendably opulent remastering of one of the PlayStation 4's better action RPGs, Nioh 2 Remastered: The Complete Collection is the best way to play Team Ninja's furious, Soulslike sequel. That said, even on PS5 Nioh 2 Remastered still inherits the flaws from its original PS4 incarnation, such as overly punishing difficulty and repetitive design. Regardless though, for those new to Nioh 2, there really is no better time to get stuck into the game - just make sure that you've finished the first game beforehand; otherwise you're in for pain. A lot of pain.

    One of my absolute favorite video games ever made. The combat is absolutely pristine, it's faster-paced and more combo-oriented than mostOne of my absolute favorite video games ever made. The combat is absolutely pristine, it's faster-paced and more combo-oriented than most souls-like games, with a brilliant "ki pulse" mechanic that rewards its use in between combos. Between the fantastic character customization and all of the different weapons and spells you can use, you can feel like whatever kind of badass Japanese-fantasy warrior you want to be. And right when you're on top of your badass samurai/ninja power trip, Nioh will find a way to absolutely humble you all over again. I've beaten the main campaign on the main difficulty already and now just play it on the harder difficulty whenever I want to get lost in this absolutely beautiful fantasy all over again.

    If the Nioh series ever continues I hope they keep the brilliant customization and combat of this game and perhaps incorporate a more lively and modern open world design.    … Full Review »
