The Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is a dream come true for Mortal Kombat fans. There are multiple versions of every Mortal Kombat game, up to, and including, Mortal Kombat 4. The package has exhaustive extras, including a long documentary about the history of the series. Almost every game has online play with rollback netcode. And Mortal Kombat Trilogy has its load times and bugs fixed, so players can have every character in one game. My only complaints are minor, and that some of the games are awful. But I’m so glad those awful games are included, for completion’s sake and for nostalgic reasons. If you have any love for Mortal Kombat, the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is a must-buy. It’s arguably the best retro game collection of all-time.

If you have even the smallest modicum of fondness for gaming's original bad boy, then the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is as essential as essential can be.

The documentary is a fascinating look into the history of the Mortal Kombat team and the development of the series. It's a shame that the online features are barebones as of now, but I think for old school Mortal Kombat fans, this collection is a dream come true and has personally reignited my love for this franchise.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is not only the best way to play these games in 2025, but it’s also the best way to peek behind the curtain and witness the creation of a modern-day icon.

It's a great product as a game pack, but even more as a documentary. If you mix evrything, you'll find a real gem for any Mortal Kombat fan. You'll want to say "get over here!!"

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is a great collection of classic games. There are some notable absences, and the online experience is currently lacking. Input lag on the PS5 is also problematic. The fact that the price isnt very high on the Brazilian PS Store is undoubtedly a critical issue. However, these are all points that can be remedied through updates, which we hope will happen. If not, it's worth grabbing on sale to satisfy your nostalgia.

Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection features an absolutely absurd amount of content, both when it comes to the games you can play and the documentary included as well. I’d have loved to see a bit more about what the Mortal Kombat team was going through during the tail end of the 90s, and there are certainly a few gaps when it comes to the games included that would be great to see filled in. Still, fans of the series will find that Digital Eclipse has made yet another great collection that entertains and educates in equal measure.

Buy it for the documentary, stay for the games, which are pretty good especially if not playing online or competitively.

Altogether this is another excellent Digital Eclipse compilation that’s as informative as it is entertaining. And whenever you get tired of learning (or, if you’re old like me, yearning for the early ‘90s), you can go and rip somebody’s spine out. Who can find fault with that?

Soft-pedaling the series’ weaker moments is disappointing, but this thorough collection is, for the most part, the historical deep dive Mortal Kombat has deserved and opens the door for another chapter that thoughtfully explores its divisive 3D era.
