The changes to the game modes were essential to revitalize precisely what was needed, despite Franchise and March to October starting to fall a little behind. As for gameplay, once again we have a title that embraces both newcomers and veterans, offering accessible levels of challenge that reward those who dedicate themselves.

It delivers a refined and immersive baseball experience on this console, with stunning visuals, engaging gameplay plus a wealth of baseball content. While it builds upon the foundation of previous entries, the improvements and refinements make it a worthwhile addition to any baseball fan’s collection. Best of all, the latest version of MLB, particularly on the PS5, solidifies its position as the premier baseball simulation on the market and is a home run!

Ultimately, MLB The Show 25 delivers another solid simulation baseball experience, building upon the strong foundation established by its predecessors. Does it capture the magic of being on the diamond? I think so. The improved fielding/running/hitting systems make the core gameplay loop feel fantastic. Franchise mode has seen a couple of much-appreciated additions. And Diamond Dynasty is fun again with the season system behind it. The team at San Diego Studio continues to show dedication and passion for capturing the essence of baseball. This year’s offering, while not perfect, demonstrates their commitment to evolving and improving the franchise.

MLB The Show 25 from San Diego Studio is a good upgrade from last year’s game. The gameplay feels tighter and smoother on the offense and defense side of the field. Including the new feature Diamond Quest gives more depth to what a typical baseball game would be, bringing in new ideas on how you can compete in Diamond Dynasty. MLB leads the way again by bringing a solid experience and off-beat innovation that works more than it doesn’t.

MLB The Show 25 is REALLY good. It is stacked with options and well-fleshed-out game modes that will keep users’ attention for months individually and all year as a total package. While there are still a few elements that I’d like to see added, I feel comfortable saying this isn’t just the best version in the series—MLB The Show 25 is the best baseball video game ever made.

If nothing else, MLB The Show 25 is great because of how well it lets us live out those big baseball dreams - with Legends who have passed, at Stadiums we may never get to visit, and with teams who may not win the World Series anytime soon. There aren't massive, major changes, but they're good ones. Because of San Diego Studio's willingness to change and adapt, MLB The Show 25 proves this series is the best baseball sim on the market - and arguably the best sports game out there.

The new upgrade system and the amateur portion of your player’s journey have reinvigorated Road To The Show, while the shift away from Sets and Seasons has righted Diamond Dynasty’s biggest wrong. While it’s a bit of a bummer that the Storylines feature isn’t living up to its full potential, it remains a worthwhile and important inclusion that has reach beyond the game of baseball. All the small touches, such as updated infielder reactions and new quick time events like the swim move, have the on-field action in a great place, too. It’s not always easy for an annual franchise to justify the move to a new entry, but in the case of MLB The Show 25, it does more than enough to make me glad it has arrived.

Though it's almost expected that MLB The Show will have another solid outing, I still can't help but smile when, after my first few games, I realize that baseball is back and we once again have a terrific representation of that in video game form. Whether I was leading my team to the World Series in March to October, charting my player's career in Road to the Show, or learning about the game's history in Storylines, I continually needed to pull myself away from playing "just one more." MLB The Show 25 delivers perhaps the most well-rounded package of any of the mainstream sports video games, making for a title I first fired up during Spring Training and could very well still be playing when the World Series rolls around.

A vast array of playable modes blends with a more than solid technical department, featuring gameplay that improves year after year and offers extensive customization, making MLB The Show 25 perfect for both newcomers and seasoned players alike. Applause for the gameplay, which allows for a seamless transition from an arcade style to a more simulation-oriented approach, maintaining high standards in both cases. Perhaps the player models could have been updated, but the overall visual quality remains impressive. The only real flaw I encountered was lag in online matches, likely due to the fact that I was always playing against overseas opponents. That said, once again, there’s only one thing left to say: MLB The Show 25 hits a massive home run.

While MLB The Show 25 closely follows the aesthetics and gameplay structure of the previous edition, albeit with some pleasant refinements, it is the new game modes that bring a breath of fresh air and elevate the level of excitement. From the single-player career mode to the collectible card system known as Diamond Dynasty, passing through the management of an entire franchise, the implemented changes are particularly well-thought-out. They inject vital energy, intensifying the passion of fans and compelling them to take the field daily in an endless cycle of pitches and hits.

MLB The Show 25 proves to be one of the best sports series currently available. San Diego Studio's game stands out for the main modes (Road To The Show and Diamond Dynasty above all). Also appreciable are the changes in batting and defense, while on the graphics front there is room for improvement.

A great entry from the leading baseball sim going, MLB The Show 25 adds small but meaningful elements to its familiar formula to keep you swinging for the fences.

San Diego Studios brings with MLB The Show 25 what is nothing less than the best sports game of the moment, at all levels: gameplay and content. A shame, since if it is a PS5 and Xbox Series exclusive development it lacks of a great visual improvement, but still... the best proposal for the virtual sports fan.

MLB The Show 25’s refinements to Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty make this another superb baseball sim. The on-field gameplay may feel largely familiar, but it’s already so well executed that it staves off any feeling of samey-ness. Some great new modes and another enjoyable set of documentary-esque storylines round out a package that’s still quite comfortably at the top of its game.

MLB The Show 25 doesn’t reinvent the game but remains a top-tier sports title. With stellar presentation, a great soundtrack, and smooth gameplay, it might just be the best in its genre. Baseball fans can't afford to miss this one.

MLB: The Show 25 is a better game than its predecessor, capable of gripping the player more quickly and making it easier to enjoy. The two main game modes are much more fun and even the stagnant graphics don't detract from them.

Meanwhile, Road to the Show finally gets the shot in the arm it's been crying out for with the inclusion of amateur games and a reworked progression system; free agency is more engaging in Franchise, and Diamond Dynasty smartly shifts away from the restrictive Sets and Seasons model while also introducing an enjoyable new single-player mode. Whether its additions are incremental or more significant, MLB The Show 25 makes enough positive changes to justify another year out on the diamond.

This year’s installment refines existing mechanics rather than revolutionizing the series, introducing improvements mainly in game modes, such as the roguelike-inspired Diamond Quest and a revamped Diamond Dynasty. While the absence of last-gen versions hasn’t resulted in a major visual upgrade, animations and physics have been enhanced. However, the lack of localization remains a barrier for non-English-speaking players.

Sony San Diego plays it relatively safe with its flagship baseball series but offers new Storylines and modes with the same solid gameplay.

MLB The Show 25 doesn’t make any massive changes, but it didn’t need to. If you are a baseball fan, I highly recommend picking up MLB The Show 25, and if you are a sports fan who hasn’t tried this series yet, it’s the perfect year to do so.
