I went into Spider-Man: Miles Morales with both superhero movie and open world game fatigue and while those feelings remain intact I will attest to enjoying it quite a bit if not more than it’s lengthier predecessor. While most of the first outings wrinkles have been ironed out technically the game still feels bogged down with collectathons and sprinkled with uninspired boss encounters.I went into Spider-Man: Miles Morales with both superhero movie and open world game fatigue and while those feelings remain intact I will attest to enjoying it quite a bit if not more than it’s lengthier predecessor. I feel that if they had spent less time on making it feel like an open world game and instead focused those efforts into giving it a fuller campaign this would have been a real contender for game of the year. For now however its the best Spider-Man game I have ever played. Which is pretty gosh darn good if you ask me.

The new “Venom Powers” are an absolute delight to use as different enemies and situations call for different combinations of these electrified area attacks. The gadgets make the game really easy but they are fun to use and pack a flourish that is a feast for the eyes most of the time. There is a flow to the gameplay sometimes that feels perpetual and ultimately very satisfying.

I would recommend this game to both Spider-Man fans and Action game fans alike.

This game is great. I like the side quests and tempo. Graphics look next Gen and gameplay is smooth. Venom strike was a step up from the 2018 Spiderman.

Great gameplay and an engaging story similar to the first game. However the price does not justify the measly length of the game. Wait for the game to go on a 50%+ sale before purchasing.

Great game, same gameplay and map as the first. I would say this game is worth $25-$30 based on the content it has, not $50. Spider-man: Miles Morales DLC. They just reskined the 2018 game for a winter theme, threw in some new animations + RT and that's it. Fewer skills, fewer challenges, fewer gadgets ( 4 to be exact...) no suit powers (you have visors instead)...
Stealth surely improved, and I like the tricks you can do while you swing, but that's just not enough.
I played the 2018 Spider-man for the third time before this, and I can't tell how much I still loved it. The story is more complex and not too predictable compared to this.

If you want to buy this, wait for a discount because it's not worth to pay a full price imho.

Also I tried it on PS5 and I didn't really feel like it's using the full potential of the haptic feedback of the controller or anything. Obviously the configuration of the PS5 is more than enough for this game. (nonetheless the game looks good, but just slightly better to it's predecessor.)

The bugs when asked to select triangle makes my gaming experience feel like a chore more than something I'd be wanting to finish. I wanted to finish the game purely because I paid full price for it. Graphically very nice, with decent gameplay. Some of the moves are barely used, which makes all the button combos feel like developer fluff. Where this game falls apart is its abrupt ending. I would have liked a bit more cat and mouse before the final fight, with maybe some other boss encounters. The game was decent, but it needed another 15-20 hours to truly shine. I remember being extremely hyped for this game back when it first launched after the 2018 Spider Man game was one of my favorite games ever made and I loved Miles Morales when it first launched but after replaying again this time on a PS5, I've come to realize it's more flawed than I remember. Before I actually explain what makes it disappointing, I wanna talk about what I absolutely loved about it. Firstly, the graphics and gameplay are phenomenal and are definitely a step above the 2018 game since the map covered in snow makes the game look so much more different and Mile's new moves including Venom abilities feel so much better to use and something that goes surprisingly unnoticed, the rockets are much more satisfying than the 2018 game with they properly explode. The side quests are about the same in terms of quality to the 2018 game but there's a LOT more here but what helps is that they're all contained instead of having to hope you come across it in the 2018 game allowing you to take care of it at your own pace instead of the game's. Surprisingly, even though Insomniac didn't have to, they actually created brand new animations for the people obsessed with wanting new animations cause trust me when I say they would've called them lazy for using the same animations and called it DLC (which to be fair, it kinda is with how it wasn't a full priced game at launch) but I definitely appreciate it since it actually makes sense for Miles with his new tricks in the air, how he stumbles on the ground when he falls, and even during gameplay. I'm really glad the MJ and Miles stealth missions were cut because those were AWFUL back then and still are now. The soundtrack is surprisingly a step above the 2018 game to the point where I actually listen to it whenever I'm out and about. Finally though, I can definitely see the PS5 benefits with how how it showcases the controllers haptic feedback (which to be clear, makes a MUCH bigger difference than you think). That's sadly all of the positives I have for the game because everything else sadly is not. Like how there are 2 enemy factions and they literally don't fight that much differently leaving much to be desired. The game still has some minor glitches while didn't ruin the game for me personally, baffles me how Insomniac didn't fix them 2 and a half years later. While the short story didn't really bother me (after all, I primarily do everything a game has to offer so it took about 20), what did bother me is that there wasn't a lot of time for good enough character development for some of the characters, and that's easily the worst part about this game for me personally. See, Miles and his companions are given excellent development throughout the game and it's enough for me to want to see Miles succeed, but it's where the villains (except the Prowler) that are the BIGGEST downgrade compared to the 2018 game. The main villain is barely a character but it's really the other villain Miles used to have a bond with who is borderline insufferable and ruins the game with her literal hypocrisy knows no bounds and her "sacrifice" at the end while beautiful, feels unearned. Overall, while I enjoyed my time with Miles Morales, after coming back to play it again, I've come to realize how much of a disappointment it actually was and that's a genuine shame because I could tell whoever made this game are genuine Spider Man fans who worked really hard on this game but that's not enough to make the game great. So while it's not stopping my hype for Spider Man 2, and hell, I actually still recommend this game now that it's so cheap, I ultimately have to open my eyes and realize Playstation isn't always about quality with it's products. For starters, the game is ridiculously too short. It clearly started as either an expansion to the first one that they repackaged as it's own game, or a rushed sequel that was cut way short in order to have a system seller for the PS5. It clearly started as either an expansion to the first one that they repackaged as it's own game, or a rushed sequel that was cut way short in order to have a system seller for the PS5. On top of it being short, the story is also boring and predictable. I don't know if these characters are pulled from the comics, but compared to the first game, they are just....not good. Also, the wokeness is very real and very cringey. The seemingly out of nowhere, and ham-fisted, political scenes made me wonder how all the characters know that this Spider-Man is black. Is it because he wears a black costume? That seems rather racist. My only other criticism, and I know it's just a product of the world we live in now, is that it makes no sense that in a universe where Peter Parker is still alive and a mentor to Miles, that Miles calls himself Spider-Man. The game even seems to be aware of this, because there are numerous clumsy lines of dialogue trying to differentiate which Spider-Man a character is talking about. It would be the equivalent of having a Batman game where after Bruce trains up Dick Grayson, gives him his own bat suit, and then they just both call themselves Batman. It is unnecessarily confusing and stupid.

Before I get into the game's strengths, it's important to point out that I loved the first game. In fact, it's the first and only game I've every platinumed. I played through it multiple times, beat it on the highest difficulty setting, and completed 100% of the DLC. Going into Miles Morales: Spiderman, I was worried that it would be too easy or feel too much like the original. I was wrong on both accounts. This game kicked my butt at first, and it was so much fun to learn all of Miles' new moves and unlock his new gadgets. I still think the fighting hologram gadget is lame, but everything else was a blast. I also really loved the fact that there were no forced stealth sections where you didn't play as Spider-Man or lame mini games that you have to do a dozen times. That alone was the biggest improvement over the first game. Speaking of improvements, this game looks, sounds, and feels way better. It's clear that the developers really loved the first game they made and wanted to make everything feel familiar but better. Also, the load times are amazing. The sad truth is that if you were to take the characters and story of the first game and combine that with everything else from this game, it would probably be the perfect Spider-Man game. If you never played the first one, then the "Ultimate Launch Edition" is an easy recommend, since it comes with the first game remastered. If you've already played the first game and not interested in playing the remaster, than I would not recommend this one at full price. Wait for a sale.

Bello.
