Things like that shouldnt happen in my opinion. The game should give some sort of guidance and also prevent that players can get into areas where they shouldnt be. Also puzzle-items can fall through the floor making you stuck and restart.

I think the game is recommendable for players who are already into different types of puzzle games others might get really frustrated in their playthrough. The game itself can take approximately 2-3hrs but it can be a lot faster or a lot longer depending how hard it is for you to understand the game mechanics. They should take care of mentioned bugs. Also the game performance tends to fps-dip in occasional situations so thats a let down too.

Not a bad story puzzle. The story is trivial, but perhaps suitable for couples in love. The puzzles aren't bad.

Game was free on ps5 with ps plus. The ps activity cards give good hints if you get stuck on a puzzle. I did have a few glitches where an important item would just disappear and I would have to start over, or I would go too far out and basically it would take too long to get back... this game really needed like a warp back to a point because it felt like a lot of this was just a walking simulator. Idk how you would balance that but if you go too far out in the map you walk to nothing. That was annoying for me as this being a puzzle game you aren't sure if that's the right answer until you realize no this definitely isn't working. The gameplay is only a few hours like4-6hrs at most. It's worth a playthrough, but I would wait for a heavy discount if you have to pay for it.

Overall, it's a 5/10 for me. Not saying it's a bad game. But it's a meh story with mechanics that are sometimes amazing with amazing puzzles, or sometimes puzzles that feel really cheap or very unclear.

I enjoyed the first section with the minurature version you interact with.. I didn’t expect it to be what the whole game was… and that’s what it is.. not enough new is done to excite or intrigue.. I was kinda just solving the puzzles to get the story rather than see the next area like a portal game for example.. other furstrations in the game coe with just how awkward it is to actually move the items, I found it to be inconsistent and annoying in moments where lining up perfectly really mattered or during a spot towards the end where I was being timed, but the game just frustratingly wouldn’t let me pick up an Item I needed to move consistently, and once I finally could pick it up it was a hassle to even move it where it needed to go… so even with the solution in mind, the execution here may annoy you..
Maquette though is a nice challenge with great story telling and music.. its not a game I can recommend to everyone, but definitely to the fans of puzzle games..
    I give Maquette
    a 7.5/10

Both options seemed quite plausible in a game where you are encouraged to explore and think outside of the box, as you look for ways through, and for ways to move keys around.

Without the trigger we missed, we spent a couple of hours wandering around with nothing to do, and again found another game breaking way to finish it, that didn't make sense in a story unfolding kind of way.

Pretty chill game with some innovative puzzles. I applaud the way they made the puzzles, but in a way in became easier since the concept of them remained the same mostly. Didn't run that well on PS5 and got more friends saying it made them dizzy.

Pretty good game for anyone loving a good puzzle game anyway, and would recommend. Takes about 3-5 hours to complete.

    Pros:
    - Beautiful art style. It's amazing to traverse through this world and the design is just beautiful and vibrant.
    - Voice acting segments are great. Voiced by real life hollywood couple Bryce Dallas Howard and Seth Gabel. Both put in amazing performances that make the narrative between the game's couple feel so real. - Fun puzzle mechanics that a lot of people should be able to

    - Fun puzzle mechanics that a lot of people should be able to understand. I'm not a puzzle game pro and this was something I was able to figure out after some time.
    - Great soundtrack. Gives an indie sort of folk vibe, and I'm not even a fan of that music and I found the soundtrack in this game nice to listen to.

    Cons:
    - Experienced several bugs/glitches, some of which were game-breaking and others that make solving a puzzle impossible unless you restart, For the former, this was quite frustrating as you need to play around with objects to solve puzzles. Play around too much and you may glitch yourself! On eo fthe worst ones was when I glitched myself into a black void and couldn't escape. For bugs/glitches resulting in puzzles being impossible to solve - this is so annoying when you're deep into a level and you're forced to restart.
    - Those looking for a challenging puzzle game may not like this. If you want something that really makes you think, then this may not be for you as I previously mentioned in the Pros that this is something not too tricky for people, even non-puzzle game fans.

The puzzles are hit and miss - with some being easy, and others being unnecessarily obtuse (unless you look in the right place, you could end up wasting a lot of time wandering a fairly uninspiring landscape). There are few if any PS5 advantages - and there are often glitching and frame drops/holds in some areas; and there are some truly awful collision errors allowing you to go inside meshes. Also, some of the controls (moving objects around) felt like it was borderline unusable.
Overall: it's low stress - low pay-off game, which has a tendency to fall into frustration depending on your ability to sync with the game devs view of things. There just isn't enough engaging about the game to make me enjoy it.

Before I say anything about this game, I would like to state that I have NEVER gotten motion sickness from playing ANY video game EVER. Maquette gets the noble title of the first piece of media that made me wanna puke because of the visuals (which are actually quite nice, by the way). Now I’m a bit anxious when I see epilepsy warnings. Thanks, game.

Maquette gets the noble title of the first piece of media that made me wanna puke because of the visuals (which are actually quite nice, by the way). Now I’m a bit anxious when I see epilepsy warnings. Thanks, game.

The second point of concern is that Maquette is made with Unity engine, which mostly isn’t something that makes software good and when you see Unity logo on the starting screen… well, expectations go low.

Also, have you heard of those cheap crap Steam games with **** of trophies that exist only to boost your trophy count? Beginning of Maquette feels exactly like this. Trophies dropping like crazy, for minor actions.

So considering all the above, is Maquette a terrible game? Absolutely NO!

The storyline is quite simple, yet heartening for what it is. Protagonists, Mike and Kenzie, are having a complicated relationship and player’s role is to explore their memories through solving a lot of quirky riddles and puzzles. The game bases on the concept of “mind palace”, which means that the levels are visual representations of one’s memory. It has probably been used in video games already but I particularly liked this element of Maquette (it shows nicely how memory works). The story itself is, as I said, ok – but less emotional people might get annoyed by it (as one of Metacritic comments stated, “it’s like a Hallmark movie”). For me it was fine, however some more depth would be greatly appreciated. Good impression was definitely partially based on very well done voice acting.

Puzzles aren’t impossible to solve, yet some of them are real thinkers. Nevertheless, I completed the game in a couple of hours, so don’t expect Portal-like level of difficulty. Almost all of them are based on “level inside the level” concept: usually in the middle of the map there is a miniature version of it that allows you to manipulate the “bigger” reality. There is a lot of puzzles based on changing size of the objects – changing it in one “dimension”, or moving the item, affects what happens in the others. If you get stuck, you can just admire casual-coffeehouse artstyle used to design the game, which is another advantage in my opinion.

Unfortunately, it’s not all I can say about this decent puzzle game. Except for minor inconveniences (clunky controls, occasional FPS drops and possibility of going to outer space because devs forgot to put collisions in some places) the game is a bit too expensive for what it offers. If I didn’t get it for free in PS+, I’d get a bit upset after beating it. Also, motion sickness – there is a possibility to switch off the motion blur but hell, how come did they get away with it? Did none of the testers throw up during the tests? Maybe they did and therefore didn’t notice a huge bug in the last level that prevents you from completing the game (why do these things always happen in the very end?). Also, as far as I know, it hasn’t been patched till now.

I recommend Maquette if you claimed it in PS+ and haven’t tried yet, or if you are really into puzzle games and have a free evening. Other than that, wait for a sale.

Maquette is beautifully crafted, and I was really hoping to get to know Kenzie and Michael better over the course of time. However, superb voice acting, a great soundtrack, and some interesting design ideas were just not enough. The gameplay regrettably fails to stand up to its true potential while the rules of the game are frequently broken. And after just two or three hours, it is all over. [Issue#310]

Overall, Maquette is a solid and unique puzzle game with a sentimental, well-performed story that may hit a little too close to home for some, while maybe providing some closure for others. If only the developer found a way to intertwine the puzzles and the story together to feel more complete.
