    COME ON EA- WHY CAN'T YOU JUST TAKE MADDEN 07 FOR PS2, UPDATE THE ROSTERS, AND UPGRADE THE STADIUM AND PLAYER GRAPHICS TO CURRENT LEVELS AND THEN JUST LEAVE THE REST OF THE GAME ALONE. THEN ALL YOU NEED TO DO EACH YEAR IS A ROSTER UPDATE AND EVERYONE WILL BE HAPPY!!!!!

    I know sports games with yearly releases are hard to innovate in but Madden's NFL is just a complete copy paste of the previous one while continuously milking the fanbase for extra money. This would better be served if it wasn't a yearly release but rather a live service game (i.e. Destiny 2, Fortnite, Apex Legends, etc.). I don't know if this is new to Madden now that it's on PS5, or if this has been the case for a while, but characters feel horrible to control. I feel like I'm skating on ice, and that my momentum carries me into other players way too often. Also, players don't seem to jump, swat, or tackle when I tell them to.

    It's sad that this is the only NFL franchise we get. The graphics and lighting can't hold up a game that fails to perform in any other way. I'm sad I spent PS5 money on this entry. As everyone else has already told you - skip this one.    … Expand

    This game is legit pretty terrible. There will be times that the D line will get through the line and run straight past the QB/running back. It is awful don't waste your money. It is graphically exactly the same as the Madden 21 and the home-field advantage is just a terrible new feature.

    I am a die hard life long football fan, a mechanical engineer (ill get to this in a moment about why that matters), and a sports video game junky. Madden has always been that game that I always impatiently anticipated every next installment. I've played them all, I've seen the decline over the last 12 years, and I've heard the false promises, year over year. This Madden may not be the worst Madden in the last 12 years but it is certainly the most disappointing. Mostly to the fact that every other sports game is becoming more and more intelligent with new technology, while madden is still standing still.

    As an engineer, the laws of physics are in the background of everything i do. In my profession, if i disregard the fundamentals of movement, mass, inertia, etc. I will no longer be a professional, but for some reason Madden is still making video games. By all accounts, nothing in this game follows a single one of Newton's laws. Safeties and corners should not be able to break back on a ball to the post route, while in a dead sprint down field covering a streaking wide out. A 250lbs MLB busting through the A gap, should never be obnoxiously over powered by a 205lbs running back, 2 steps into their handoff. Double teams on the line should not be thwarted by a single out massed, over powered, out leveraged DE. Tackles make zero sense. Speed ,Change of direction, acceleration, ratings mean nothing. And Lastly, and in my opinion most importantly - people should not move faster than the ball, ever. Cb's LB's, and Safeties are consistently deify the laws of Physics by cutting off passing angles from impossible positions, simply because the ball flights are incredibly faulty and the db's some how can teleport into the path of the ball.

    This Madden is easily the worst representation of a sport that is filled with our most fundamental concepts of motion and physics. 2k did a better job of this in 2007 with a tenth of the resources.

    It could be a beautiful representation of Americas Sport, but maddens capital driven corporate political greed, and uneducated and underqualified leaders have unfathomably ruined that opportunity for themselves and for all of us to enjoy.    … Expand

    EA spends more money on advertising than they do on the actual development of their games.
    Sticking in a game mechanic from NCAA football that's over a decade old and pretending like it's something new and innovative is the lazy even for Madden. It's not fun. It looks like garbage. This is what a monopoly looks like.

    Madden 22 is better then Madden 21 in the sense that a plane crash is worse than a car crash. Both are terrible but one is worse then the other. I played on current gen.     I have been playing Madden since Madden 92. It is extremely disappointing to see the state that this game is in now. you expect anything to get better with time, but not Madden. I have had every copy of Madden since Madden 92. My recent purchases of Madden was simply because it's the only "simulation" football game available. It got to the point that I couldn't take it anymore, so II have been playing Madden since Madden 92. They are stealing the NHL and NCAA features and putting it in Madden. This is so sad, the glitches have become the norm and they claim that an update is coming in September for the new scouting in franchise mode. Given EA's track record, I don't trust them.     The game is madden 21 BUT is somehow someway WORSE. The game is absolutely filled to the brim with bugs. Like ones that makes your stats ZERO after playing a franchise game and you lose to boot. Then you can see how the new menu layout for franchise is literally layed over the top of the old menu. Yes the old menu is running in the back round. Wow

    Holy crap all I did was just open the game up and it’s all black, after restarting the game 3 times I got it to run, then I did a play now. 1st play, fumble and the ball gets kicked around on the ground for 25 minutes before it goes out of bounds and the first quarter is over. But then the next quarter starts and a the other team has 6 point and I have 2 points.     Once again, this is the same game as it it’s always been because they have no incentive to fix or change anything. If you need a football game to play, there’s no other option. But be warned, it is not worth the $70 price tag. Reused animations, glitches that make booth reviews only happen once the play clock has reached zero. It’s trash. Don’t waste your money.

    So many glitches I cannot even play franchise mode. Game still littered with microtransactions, and the pay to play setup ruins the game for me in online modes. Fix the bugs and microtransactions and add all the mising features we had 10 +years ago.

Face of the Franchise is back and more broken than ever. Franchise is missing the features that EA's NHL has. As somebody who plays these games for the franchise and MyCareer experiences, I feel disrespected.

Features have been cut, then later introduced as "new". Even the "new" things they try to do, like updating movement on the next generation consoles, clearly didn't go through any extensive testing. The new movement absolutely has broken coverage models. In many different situations, defensive players don't even remotely work in their assignments. I am honestly disappointed in myself for hoping for something better, it's quite obvious at this point that EA is milking this exclusive license with the tiniest amount of effort they can, because they are the only show in town with an NFL license.    … Expand

    I was given Madden NFL 22 for free. I've already gone through the process of getting a refund for my friend. An all exclusive licensing should at the very least have something appealing, or even when you publish it have a half working game. I hope into franchise mode play a game I finish the game with a win of 27-7 and I get back to the main screen it counts it as a loss for me 7-0. Not to mention the first game I play the game is so bugged that it chooses to mash 4 different animations into one making the player look like a black hole. Besides that I also hop into the moot Face of the Franchise mode with a rather ok acting seen, but you hop into week 2 and when you win and you start heading for the screen again it says you have disconnected from the EA server it has not saved your data and sends you back to the main screen. I refuse to head into MUT because it's the same objectively pointless game each and every year you spend money on cards to make your team decent enough to compete against someone else and you work on grinding for the top tier cards at the end of the year only for it to be worth nothing but a 70 overall in next year's game just for you to re-do it again. Might I add that old gen is a carbon copy of Madden 18, 19, 20, and 21 all together because they did nothing but change the presentation screens and some scouting. The biggest emphasis they had on the game was Moment, and Home Field Advantages. When half of the population didn't get a PS5, XBOX Series X|S they stuck with old gen only to find out the same presentation in game from the past 6 years now, and that Home field advantage and momentum isn't even a thing on old gen.

    If EA actually reads this as I hope they do, when most of your customers are sending in refund requests, and not only that, but people who didn't even bother to buy the game they got it from someone for free and they still want to get a refund on it. Something is wrong. Your game objectively has no meaning anymore because I can't play Franchise mode because it's pointless to play a game only to come out and not have any type of data for my team and a loss counted against my record. Absolutely no point in me hoping into a Face of the Franchise game just for the EA to magically loss connection and my data lost and sent back to the main screen. You have ruined the NFL video game franchise, and you have ruined anything that is considered fun in the world of video games for the Sports Market Empire you hold so dear and don't want any critics to tell you differently.

    In Football, Coaches always talk about details pay attention to details they win games. This is the same fair point for this video game. You lack detail, and while you are probably doing it at home, just cancel the game rather than come out with something so embarrassingly atrocious. If I could I would give this a -100.

EA has completely cut every cost in development purely to rake in as much profits from the imbeciles spending $ on Ultimate Team, which is aiding in the slow decline of quality in games. Madden NFL is decent. More animations for game play is nice, however Madden is too animations dependent. The graphics are still mediocre. Remember during the PS2Madden NFL is in a very sad state.     Another half ass EA sports game. 2K makes amazing NBA games and EA keeps making bad football games. Sadly they will more than likely be making the next NCAA football game and won’t care much about making that any good as well. Done buying Madden games and unless something changes any sports games form EA. Do not waste your money!

The game is beyond buggy, franchise mode hasn't really been updated. You guys added an option to add coordinators but your hiring has no affect on your season. I haven't even touched MUT in years so II'm giving it a 3 because the graphics are pretty good but there's just too much focus on graphics. This is possibly the WORSE madden launch of all time and the WORSE madden overall maybe of all time! The bugs in this game is terrible, my running back never gets his stamina back, once a guy is subbed out for some reason they never come back in, showingMan man man!! Face of Franchise is still pointless, except this year you get to sit through what can only be described as bad Kung Fu movie where character's words and mouth don't match, until Maddn quit trying and show you the back of the character's head with subtitles. Game play is buggy, with glitches galore that the recent patch only made worse.

    This is a bad, buggy game full of potential that will never be realized due to the incompetent clown show development team behind it, and the uncaring NFL that is only concerned with collecting the yearly licensing fee from EA.

In face of the franchise I made a wr, so did a friend of mine. We played through the pre draft process and both were selected 2nd overall by the 49ers. I thought that to be odd so I made another wr.I’ve played less than 8 hours of the game and ran into these bugs already. Intentionally failed every drill, had zero catches in the college games, and answered questions to make my draft stock go down. I was selected 3rd overall by the 49ers. So I then make a qb in face of the franchise. My first drills I was left with no receiver so I failed every rep. My name was also changed to Wilson, and my avatar was not my created character, I morphed into Lamar Jackson. I continued and my next workout left me without a receiver again followed by the team workout with the jets to see no receivers again. Shocker. At this point I decide trying to improve draft stock is a bust so I tank on purpose. Intentionally throwing as many pics as possible and losing in the playoffs followed by failing the same questions I fielded play as a wr. Once again I was drafted 3rd by the 49ers. Come to find out, trey lance was ALSO drafted 3rd by the 49ers. Logik. I quit that dumpster fire of a game mode to play a franchise. Same copy and paste stuff we have seen in years past. Player contracts are not correct, player models are wrong, I get to the draft and all of my scouting was lost. So now I get to draft blind, but wait. Now I’m literally blinded. By a light from the draft stage. I can’t see any of the picks before me and there is now way to see during the draft. Fantastic. I made it through 3 rounds before the white light encompassing the entire screen drove me mad to the point of just simming it. This was all the farther I made it. I contacted Sony about a refund and was granted one. Stay far away from this game. At best it’s a bug filled copy and paste of what we have had over the last 6 years. At it’s worst it’s unplayable.… Expand

Playing franchise and playing games within the season, I have won the game but when I return to the main menu to advance the week I some how lost the game I had played and won. Although if EA was really focused on improving franchise, why isn't this the cornerstone for the game at launch? As for gameplay, I'm playing on the PS5 and the presentation looks decent but the play on the field doesn't feel any different from PS4 and Madden 21. The home field advantage and momentum is cool, but not game changing. It, again, was in NCAA football for years. In summation, I clearly am not enjoying this game. I want to, but the game is not letting me. During the build up to release we were promised a new and improved Madden and all we got currently is an incomplete mess. Bring that back instead of this garbage mode in Madden.

    Madden is just a game full of modes that are largely unfinished. Then every year you go and make it seem y'all made a huge leap. Fix the game. FROM THE GROUND UP.

They give out thousands of copies to various NFL teams, players, and influencers to give away, crowding out any actual criticism of the game. They clearly aren't proud of their product, or else they wouldn't be giving away THOUSANDS of copies every year for free. It's a cash grab, and it's really sad to see. Hopefully either these predatory, virtual gambling-esque microtransactions like the ones we see in MUT are made illegal or the NFL comes to its senses and ends the exclusive licensing agreement with EA, because this is not simulation NFL football.     Overall this game is pretty awesome. I like some of the new features like "Home Field Advantage" and though it was implemented previously, "The Yard" is entertaining.     This game isn't without its shortcomings however, and there are some things that I would love to see handled better such as overall player likeness (more face scan inclusions, updated body types, better/more realistic equipment, etc.). I would also like to see legend players included in offline rosters much like how NBA 2K or MLB the Show handles their legend players. Only being able to play with legendary players in MUT is frustrating.

They have the resources to make Franchise every bit as good as it's ever been if they want to, but they don't . I don't know what to say anymore. I suppose I should just stop caring and move on at this point.

Completely revamp this ugly-ass menu, all the user interfaces for the franchise, ultimate team, the yard. Gameplay needs improvement like always. We need more depth, all around.     A bit of a disappointment, I enjoy some of the UI changes but there really is not a large difference from madden 21. Also, how is the create a character still this poor?? With EA Play basic you get madden 21 I don't think it is worth spending the money for 22, especially not at full price with the bugs. I did the 10-hour trial but only played around 5 hours

And while some things like home field advantage aren't bad. (not great either) the broken gameplay makes this game unplayable.

    WR's still run their route and then just stand there. DB's still morph through players to break up passes or get the pick. O line logic is still completely useless, coverage is a nightmare... I could go on and on. And most of these things could be somewhat fixed with sliders. But only one game mode actually lets you use sliders. That connected franchise. And the biggest addition to that mode isn't even available yet.

    Face of the Franchise is a joke. First off, it's connected to the yard. Making it a online based mode. So you have to be connected to the servers to play it. You can't adjust sliders. The path leading up to the draft is corny as hell. Draft logic makes zero sense. ( As a QB I was drafted number #1 to the Jaguars) No matter what you do, you are a top 3 pick. Its all smoke and mirror. The "choices" you make are meaningless. They give you a total of like 3 one question interviews, you do a few drills and play the college playoffs on the easily level. You get to the NFL and the cut scenes are cringe worthy. The broadcast team acts like you aren't even there. After you finish your first season, they still refer to you as a rookie.. It's a joke. FOF is connect Franchise with some make up to make it "look good"

    MUT is MUT. Not much changed. And I haven't even started a season mode yet. Because I'm waiting on the update. Pointless to start now, only to be forced to start over if I want scouting.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Trash ass game, can’t even get through a whole game without it crashing. EA sports isn’t even trying. Assets don’t load in. I’m franchise mode you can see the madden 21 dashboard running in the background. Just got done playing and winning the super bowl yo get back to the menu to say I lost 14-0. This game sucks. EA SUCKS, and y’all should give up your license to make football games. **** MUT **** the yard. Just give us a football game that works and doesn’t glitch every 17 seconds… Expand

    I've been a sucker for Madden since the beginning. Even though I knew the next year would be the same I would buy it. With the next gen consoles I thought this game would be the best of them all. I was wrong. This is the same Madden from before. Don't get me wrong the graphics are amazing but it's the same ol thing. Even the commentary is the same. Nothing has changed!!!     Playing on the Xbox Series X, it's a pretty big disappointment. Granted, I wasn't expecting the visuals to be a really big improvement, but they look exactly the same as Madden 21 on Series X. While adding the coordinators to franchise mode (the primary mode I play) is nice, it feels very simplistic and seems like they could've easily added this years ago with minimal effort. They are still missing out on pieces that would make the game actually feel like people at EA have actually watched a football game, much less do the minimal amount of research to understand the game. Make the salary cap and contract structuring more realistic, allow users to trade more than 3 players and more than 2 years of draft picks at a time, understand the importance of special teams players like a long-snapper and gunners and other pieces that would make fans believe this is an authentic football game rather than a simplistic, mobile version of a football game. Even worse, are the amount of bugs in the game. There are small, yet simple, ones like Tua warming up with the right hand or players spiking with their right hand when the ball is still stuck in their left hands to others where the player animations just start glitching or don't display at all and even further more the game just randomly closing. There are even bugs that were carried over from last year which makes me truly wonder if EA has a QA team or if the higher-ups listen to the QA team or just ship it without caring about quality. All in all, while I have supported and purchased this game consistently for over a decade, I'm really starting to feel it's not worth it any more. I'd rather wait for the contract with the NFL to expire and hope that some competition on football games make EA actually pick up and start working on this game.… Expand

This game from what I have seen is a glitchy mess. On top of that you are always promoted things from ultimate team which is the mode that ultimately ruined this franchise. It's fairly obvious the dev team spent most of their time squeezing more micro transactions into the game and completely failed, once again, at any actual innovation. WeMadden 22 is garbage.     Completely broken. Had game breaking glitches in most modes to include characters not spawning so I would fail challenges or the game crashing altogether. Terrible game.

    Game is beyond trash. No time to make defensive adjustments cuz the offense comes straight out to the line. No defense. Pushing right, left, down on the right analog to put the ball where u want it doesn't work. They can't even get kickoffs right. Shouldn't have to substitute a rb in for a te or fb just to not fumble or not go anywhere. Beyond garbage. Everyone should be fired

    I haven't played the game. However, you don't need to when there is a clip of Tua throwing with his right arm. That alone speaks volumes for the lack of attention EA puts in to Madden. How can I trust them to make a proper game when they can't get a simple detail correct?

    I have been playing football titles since 10 yard fight on Nintendo. I have been playing the Madden Franchise since its inception. I remember the days of detailed paper charts with player attributes that came in the game packaging.     Everything is contextual. This game is not a 1. If this was the first football game I had ever played, I'd say wow, they get pretty close to the real deal and I could forgive a few bugs and probably give it a 6 or 7. It is however not the product everyone anticipated in the days of Madden 05-08. By extrapolating how good the game was then, we could only imagine how good it would be 14 years later. Here were are though several console generations later, and we have seen stark movement backwards, particularly in franchise mode. With every new console generation, the game is torn down, stripped of features and then they slowly the features are put back in the game as "new features" until the launch of the next new console when it's all gone again.

    The fact that this game is a multi-million dollar IP with millions of players all pumping money into their mobile-esque game modes such as the Yard and M.U.T. makes it all the more disappointing that the game is so unpolished and leaving players wanting more. Worse still is that this is the ONLY simulation football game available, yet Madden seems to lead with the more arcadey and microtransaction heavy M.U.T. and Yard modes. If I wanted this type of gameplay I would emulate NFL Street or Blitz.

    I think this game would be served well to go with a subscription model, You pay say $50 bucks for Madden once and they continue to improve and patch as time goes on. As a new year comes, they update rosters, and hopefully add more depth to modes such as franchise. They would still make their money from people buying packs or Spongebob pants or whatever, and leave the rest of us NOT paying $70-$100 per year for a roster update and less features. I can't recommend a purchase the way the game is now. So sad, because I have supported this franchise for literally 20 years over every other football product. It would appear as though the publishers and shareholders are more important than the gamers at this point...    … Expand

Win a game 24-23 and when you exit out you lose 23-0 with a 0 in every stat category. All they care about is MUT. EA told us who they are with the FIFA leak saying “Everything leads to ultimate team”. It’s a shame they don’t care about any other modeThe very little I’ve played this game, I liked it.     I'll admit that EA fooled me....again. I really listened to their message that they were rebuilding franchise mode and making the experience more playable. The truth is that 98% of this game is exactly the same as Madden 21. They added home-field advantage and added (useless & unlicensed) assistant coaches, but there are no changes to the core game-play and have done absolutely nothingI'll admit that EA fooled me....again.     I don’t leave reviews. This is not my cup of tea, however after doing the 10 hour trial with my pro membership I felt obligated to run here and leave one. This is bar far the worst madden I have ever played and maybe one of the worst games I’ve played in recent memory. It’s clunky, glitchy recycled garbage. Save your money. Play last years version.

I played Madden 22 for a few hours since I did pay five dollars for the EA play subscription. Even though, five dollars isn’t a waste to me I definitely wasted money on this. The game is unplayable, I literally had to leave the game and come back to play Face of the Franchise. Speaking of Face of the Franchise, this mode absolutely needs to be removed entirely. It’s been the same since Madden 20. It has very terrible cutscenes with blasted music in the back that is semi alright at best. You play in college for two games and somehow you’re already the best pick in the draft when you haven’t played any high school or college game yet. You don’t get to work your way up from any high school or any college. You are forced to pick a college, there isn’t many selections and just the same few teams from Madden 20. You can’t even change your number you just stuck with a number that EA forces you to wear. The cutscenes are broken and cheesy. The characters mouths sometimes doesn’t move when their voice is speaking and if you do proceed to skip the cutscenes the audio will be glitched, forcing them to repeat themselves after you already heard them once. If you are a QB you are most likely getting drafted to the Jaguars which is nice because you are the number one pick but they already having Trevor so it’s stupid. After you play a season it’s just franchise mode right after that with a few little scenarios here and there. Franchise mode is broken as well. I created a created player to use because I didn’t want to play the barebones Face of the Franchise mode. I won a game or so with my created RB and when I went back to the Franchise Screen, we somehow lost the game which we clearly won. If you are the home team your team isn’t getting the win which is just a dumb glitch. Also, you can’t look for a right tackle or RT because EA made both of those left tackles or LT. We need to boycott EA and force them to make an actual good madden game or never buy this fraudulent piece of ****… Expand

    Ive been a madden franchise player since 05 and I recently went back to that game on the GameCube and had more fun with that then playing madden 22 franchise. The face of the franchise is subpar at best it’s basically franchise mode but playing a specific position. The game is just as buggy as last years edition and everything in madden feels half baked. Everything is animation based which is no surprise but a players overall doesn’t really matter because it’s so animation based. This will be the last madden I will purchase for sometime. It sucks that EA is the sole owner of this license because they don’t care anymore. They’ve gotten lazy with the lack of competition and all they care about is nickel and dimming you.… Expand

    Let’s be realistic. For an annual sports franchise, it’s not necessarily practical to expect huge evolution year on year. It’s also fair to say that at a minimum, players should expect EA to deliver incremental quality of life improvements and make an effort to hone their overall experience of the game for the better. Whilst there is only so far the needle can be pushed year on year, the launch of a new Madden on next-gen systems presented EA with an opportunity to really raise the bar. That’s why it’s particularly disappointing that Madden 22 only offers stagnant content and, sadly, creative disinterest.

    Madden is as compelling as it ever was, but it can’t escape the slight feeling that things are spread a little too thin. Improvements to franchise mode are welcome and help the experience, but they are smaller than perhaps they deserve. With so many different ways to play football, it’s a little difficult to get in invested in any one game.
