Pretty decent game filled with puzzles and combat similar to Zelda. Combat isn't as clean and balanced, and the puzzles aren't as well-designed, but sometimes it's close enough to not matter. Greek mythology has been done to death, so the irreverent take on the gods here is actually welcome, as it is different and somewhat original.

My main complaints are that the combat becomes trivial about a third of the way through the game, and there is a lack of variety in enemy encounters and puzzles. It all starts to seem the same halfway through. Like most Ubisoft games, there is a little too much generic content, and the final battle is awful.

A solid game that I give a bigger score to for including quite expansive and interesting DLC. While this game isn't your standard 9, I think for what it set out to do it achieved what it can while only requiring very minor improvements seen in other Ubisoft titles such as Valhalla to make this feel like a complete Quality of Life product

A lot of hubbub from the online community is that this game is a Breath of the wild clone/rip-off. Some of the elements found in this game can be found in Breath of the Wild and several other game releases in the last decade. Yes this is another third-person open world adventure, and it is also set in a mythological setting. Its so far copied a decent chunk of games released in the past decade. Don't forget that Ubisoft just released Valhalla and Watch Dogs, this will mark the third open world adventure game, in only a few short months. There is a lot of complaints about this game, its almost like people don't have the consoles to play this game and don't want anyone else to experience it. Truth be told, this is a great game. I have yet to run into any frame drops, or notable loss of quality anywhere. The game is beautifully sculpted in every conseveable way. The story, told as you're progressing, told by Promethus to Zeus is as comedic as it is enticing. The pace of the game is fast and slow. Combat and movement is akin to Assassins Creed, but dumbed down, not much emphasis on stealth although that is an option. Progression in the game (unlocks) seem to come every mission, you'll feel stacked for battle within the first hour. Even after that attaining items doesn't feel like a chore and the puzzles some of the items are hidden behind do not take a degree to figure out, but may have you scratching your head for a moment. In true Ubisoft fashion there are locations on the map, and collectibles for you to find, these aren't required to beat the game but going for 100% completetion will require you to hunt these down. They're not as plentiful as they used to be, but will see you hunting for them none the less. If you want to think of it as a Zelda clone, do it, was Breath of the Wild a bad game? If its a clone there is no reason this game should recieve less than Breath of the Wild for a score. But I find it original and unique, while not a perfect game, it could easily eat up 20+ hours of your time, without making it feel like a chore. Expand

Immortals Fenyx Rising is hands down the most pure, joyful FUN I have had with a video game in 2020, and maybe 2019 as well. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve played some great games in that span—some with tighter combat mechanics or a better story or deeper characters—but none that was more fun.

It’s Breath of the Wild meets Greek myth with an Aesthetic inspired by Studio Gibli and emotional undertones of an animated Disney film. The game is absolutely gorgeous. This is the kind of game where you want to walk/fly around just to feast your eyes. The music is, for the most part, pretty great too. It’s a joy just to be in this world, full monsters and myths and challenges and puzzles (so many puzzles—seriously, this game is a real puzzler). And after the prologue, it’s fully open, meaning you can play any way you want to. If you love the arrow challenges and fresco puzzles but hate the constellation puzzles, you can usually do what you like and skip what you don’t. What the world lacks up in size it makes up in density: around just about every corner is puzzle hiding some kind of reward, and you can engage that puzzle or not, for as long as you want. Or you can just go fight some monsters, or climb a mountain, fight an optional boss, collect power-up items and gear to strengthen your character, learn new godly powers… and maybe at some point proceed with the story.

The story is not the game’s strong point, and I don’t think it’s meant to be. After the prologue, I played for about 20 hours just exploring and having fun before I finally got back to the next main story quest. And I took lots of breaks from the main story after that too. I can’t help but feel that the game is meant to be paced this way. I played 70 hours total and finished with dozens of vaults and challenges still left incomplete. If you’re just rushing through the main story, you’re missing the game, IMHO.

Not that the main story is bad, exactly: Typhon, a Titan, is trying to take down the Greek Gods and you, the unlikely hero Fenyx, need to help restore some of them to power. It’s all kind of goofy and silly, sometimes genuinely funny, sometimes kind of cringey. The Gods themselves are larger than life, often oafish, and the game really emphasizes the way they all function as an extremely dysfunctional family. Fenyx, meanwhile, has a heart of gold. The occasional moment of mean-spirited humor aside, the story overall has the kind of relentless emotional earnestness that makes Disney movies a household name. Immortals Fenyx Rising lite fare as stories and characters go … but lite fare enables the overall tone of light-heartedness that pervades the game and adds to its joy.

There was only one big letdown for me, and that was the game’s final five hours or so. The game teases you with what looks like a giant mountain area that you can’t access until later on. Because the rest of the game was constituted by such excellent open world design, it’s easy to assume this final area will be a similar garden of treasures. Not so. It turns out the final area is a linear path with only one “right” way to go, and several mandatory puzzles. It has secrets and off-shoots along the way, but at the end of the day, there is only one way to climb that mountain. This marks a radical shift in game design that feels like a betrayal of everything that came before. Slogging up that mountain was not super-fun, and made the final vault, with its final round of mandatory puzzles, feel like more of a grind than it would have otherwise.

But the frustration of the linear endgame ultimately was not enough to tarnish the joy that this game brought me. I LOVED Immortals Fenyx Rising. Getting to sink into this world for a week after all the hardships of 2020 seriously felt like therapy for me. Like, I’m a better, happier person because of this game. And that is not something I say often. Thank you, Ubisoft, for giving us this gem.

I’ve been playing the AC series since the beginning and this game has better combat than any of them. I have played Breath of the Wild and while I enjoyed it, there was almost too much to it. By comparison, this game is more focused and is more navigable than BOTW in my opinion.

Again, I will be biased with my love for Greek mythos, but I find the story entertaining and lighthearted, which I prefer in games (I prefer good gameplay over serious stories, it’s a game after all). Plus I love the banter between Prometheus and Zeus.

If you are a fan of exploitable open worlds with a lot to do and fantastic gameplay you will enjoy. This is the most enjoyable game I have played this year. You will not regret buying it and I really hope there is a sequel.

After all the game look beautiful, runs smooth and I encountered no bluescreens or bugs at all on my PS5. There seems to be an issue on old gen consoles with a specific puzzle type, not sure if that is still a thing after the recent patches. The devs are very consistent on that.

You will be busy for 20-30hrs on a playthrough and around 45-50hrs for completionist. Might wait for a small discount of 10-20% but the game is also worth full price in my opinion. I had lots of fun, the combat is ver good and the puzzle design are amazing. Would rebuy it any time for full price.

Zeus needs help, the greek gods are in trouble, all of the mortals are stone.. except for one of course.. you… you creae your character and its off to helping zeus and the rest of the gods in this open world puzzle game… and if there weren’t such a large emphises on the puzzle part, this game as series has such great potential… for starters this world is beautiful, though there are crashing issues is you play in pretty mode vs the run better mode on the playstations 5… here youll be running around, collecting items to craft consumables, find gear, and collect shards to upgrade your gear and character, run around and complete tasks for the different gods and gain new abilities.. if it stopped there I would be fine, run around this opwen world with sections that feel and look different enough reperesenting each god you help… all while the game hilariously narrates for you… a real highlight… I could’ve loved immortals fenyx.. but its insistence to try and be a breath of a wild clones, sucked away all of its charm and left immortals fenyx risings feeling like a good.. yet soulless game… its cookie cutter, and what were left with if unfun combat, and boring drug out puzzles.. the vaults are half of the game and theyre just awful.. they have their moments of being fun brain teasesers… but these puzzles show up way too frequently in your 13 plus hour journey… and I dreaded them every time.. im not a big fan of puzzles in general… but when theres essentially puzzle rooms vs environmental puzzles, I hate it even more… just let me build up my charcters, sneak around, tame and kill things while my boy zeus makes awful jokes.. that’s all I wanna do… but fenyx rising sortve blows its load for me.. if you’ve played journey to the savage planet.. it’s the same kind of thing… youre smacked with charm, mystery and immersion.. and then everything else feels lackluster in ocmparision to the greatness the adventure starts with…
While I can appreciate that this is objectively a good game that plenty will love… for me this was a game that kept throwing school work at me when all I wanted to do was play at recess… and once I get out to recess its like oh, its raining.. youre playing in the gym today, not the playground like youre used to doing.. meaning that this world is just a chore to even get around in.. the whole stamina whil you run, climb, swim, and soar thing can be fun if done right.. its not done right here.. its annoying and just makes traversal not fun.. . but I am again just speaking for myself.. for me the combat gt stale fast, the traversal becomes annoying fast, and the puzzles get annoying boring and overwhelming fast… what am I doing playing this?
for a lot of people though theyre hearing this review being all like. Yeha this is what I want, imam buy this right now.. I get it.. tis a good game, just not for me.

They've structured the loot in such a way that you would expect from a free-to-play mmorpg. There are a handful of basic armor sets to collect in game from the content (randomly rewarded from chests), but ALL of the really cool looking gear is locked behind either microtransactions from the cash shop or very time consuming farming of in game currency that is time-gated and used for a different shop, that offers less to buy. Even worse, the stuff you can buy with in game currency is limited time only before it resets and offers new stuff, so it's very likely that even if you see something neat for sale you won't have the currency to get it. Still, there's nothing fun or cool about buying the best looking gear from a store. These should be rewards from solving the hardest puzzles or beating the toughest monsters!!!

Take all of the amazing loot in the shops and dump it into the game as loot collected from content and achievements and you have yourself one hell of a game to sink your teeth into. I can't imagine the excitement of earning all that cool stuff the way it should be in a single player game. As it stands now though, about 1/4 of the way into your playthrough you will realize nothing you find past that point will ever feel cool again as it's just reskins of the same boring armor sets over and over for the rest of the game. Meanwhile, you look at the cash shop and see stuff for sale that puts everything you can earn from completing the toughest puzzles or content in the game to shame. HORRIBLE game design for a single player game. You can't even show your gear off to other players in a hub or something? Why. Just why.

You guys ruined your game. This crap doesn't belong in a single player game, I just can't believe you are so focused on making an extra buck that you decided to turn a great single player rpg into a sleezy free to play microtransaction business model.

It could have been 10/10 if the 2 shops didn't exist and all the great loot was rewarded to you from exploring and completing content.

I have to heavily subtract from my score though since it felt like the last 3/4 of my playthrough the loot was uninteresting and not rewarding at all because of the shops. I would have gladly purchased the season pass if the shops didn't exist, but I'm not supporting this kind of monetization in a single player RPG.

It's very well made, love the characters and the story, everything just fits together and it has a consistent style/game play. I especially enjoy the fight system and the progression is really rewarding. I think I really needed the lightheartedness and goofiness during these times.

I only encountered one slightly buggy vault and not a crash which I wouldn't note normally but it's a stark contrast after Cyberpunk..

I think it's pointless to compare it to other games - it shows where it got inspirations from but completely stands on its own. This game got me hooked, while I stopped playing Breath of the Wild, Odyssey, or Valhalla early on. (This doesn't mean I think these games are bad in any way, and everyone has a different taste. Also I might get back to some of these still.)

Really fun game. I see alot of people comparing it to breath of the wild and yes it definitely takes heavy inspiration from that I don't see anything wrong with that this game has its own twist on certain elements. Unlike alot of ubisoft games there's not a ton of unnecessary bloat to it . You will get a good 25-35 hours of quality game all the way through.

An excellent game to bring the open-world RPG / puzzler genre some life on the PlayStation. Sadly, it is overshadowed by the requirement of an internet connection to play a single-player game due to the in-game store to buy skins. (Nothing wrong with selling skins for a SP game, just disappointed it's entirely required to be online to even play the game.)

Cheesy, funny, excellent world, very good boss battles. Its simply everything in an adventure. Haven’t said that in quite sometime but my take on it, well done Ubisoft.

Before I start I should probably mention the glitches and crashes I had... At one point my PS5 crashed 3 times in the space of 5 hours, another part light attacks would stop landing and just clip through enemies until I reset the game, and again I had to reset the game when a specific challenge (Lyre) just vanished from the map, so I had to save near the location, reset and reload for itBefore I start I should probably mention the glitches and crashes I had... Immortals: Fenyx Rising is probably the most impressive and enjoyable game I have played by Ubisoft since Assassins Creed 2.

Many would see elements of Assassins Creed in this game but I mostly see a lot of elements from Breath of the Wild, the stamina bar climbing, swimming and jumping, the gliding, and the number of puzzles scattered around the world.

The world itself is a reasonable size and has very little open space that consist of nothing, so even though the map might not be as big as whichever game you want to compare it to, everything within the map is nicely packed in a reasonable distance so you don't feel like your traversing through empty space for minutes on end.
The visuals are stunning in 4k HDR, even though the character models themselves aren't the best, but the aesthetic design reminds me so much of Zelda mixed with Fable, and the way the controls feels also replicate these games also.

The story has it moments and really does a good job describing some greek gods/goddesses as well as basically slagging off Zeus' behaviour and the way he mistreated other gods/goddesses, however the dialogue can be pretty bad most the time, at times it seems designed for little children but the sexual innuendos and the vague jokes that of a young adult would get seems to make me think the game doesn't know what it's target audience is.

The absolute worse thing I can think of is how tedious some of the trophies are to get, as things stand I have 100% platinum trophy for this game and it took me 50 hours and 30 minutes (to the nearest minute) of game time, I think the game could be done in about 30-35 hours but I wanted to get all trophies as it was rated easy to obtain.
Now the platinum was easy to obtain but tedious as hell, some of the objectives I had to do ended up me googling a map as I didn't want to spend needless hours walking around looking for a specific monster or chest... At one point I needed to obtain a rare resource called golden amber, most easily obtained through normal chests (x3 from each chest), I ended the game still requiring 60+ amber to get one last trophy, so I had to start a new game+ just to reset the chests.

It was so tedious and annoying obtaining some of the collections and pretty much killed my gaming experience, I think a slight tweak to the script and more vigorous story as well as a better trophy setup I believe this game could have potentially hit the 8/10 mark.

The weapons bonuses really were a better compromise than the weapon breaking system of BoTW. the combat was fast paced and very skill based. there was never a time i felt like my controls failed me and every death i got was earned. Its a fast paced fun adventure. this game is very similar to breath of the wild but its differences actually improve the game for the better. The search system also eliminates some of breath of the wilds issues specifically with the korok seeds which was not fun to find them. the search system eliminates this issue and allows you to find items where ever they may be. a great thing for completionists. The abilities were all useful from athenas shield dash to ares spear rise everything has a use and i used certain other abilities a lot more than i thought i would like the phosfor clone ability. they really made the game full use of ability.

The story was really fun. the story starts with fenyx a person who ends up on the island of the greek gods and has to rescue them and defeat typhon. the story is great. the commentary between Zeus and Prometheus is one of the best parts about it. the retorts are witty and fun and something i really enjoyed.

Regarding The DLC. the 1st and 2nd DLC were really good and fun. the 1st dlc is on olympus and not to spoil anything its basically a test of your skills with your abilities.

2nd DLC takes place on a different island and the main character for this is Ku a soldier who mysteriously survives the petrification that takes place on the island and in order to seal the rift works with the goddess nuwa to do it. Its a fun short adventure, a mini version of the game that i loved

3rd DLC I hated it and wasnt nearly as fun as the 1st two. i had high expectations for this DLC after the 1st two. It felt really budgeted and messy. The story is fenyx is trying to help get the gods who left olympus back on olympus but is forbidden to leave so he summons a champion named ash to bring the gods back to their home. Its a top down combat experience but tries to be like the normal game with a fixed camera that just doesnt work. having to earn all the powers you gained for a 3rd time is a chore. the story is fine but they use these cheap text box with a picture.

This 3rd DLC felt like their budget was cut and this is what they decided to do. its honestly the worst of the bunch. its not a bad game but with the 1st 2 dlcs being so good it was just disappointing stuck in a metroid situation and not granted some previous abilities in the beginning and backtracking in a design like this can be a nightmare and some powers you dont get till very later on so it detracts from the experience.

Overall the base game is a 9/10
    the DLC is a 7/10
    1 is 9/10
    2 is 9/10
    3 is 5/10

overall this is a game worth playing with its DLC. I think everyone who loves breath of the wild should give this game a shot.

There is a nice story with humorous twists about interesting myths (greek mythology), which is great because it distracts you from the bad level design, poor puzzles and atrocious combat mechanics. For the combat, it looks like Ubisoft took Assassin's creed's bad combat mechanics and asked themselves how they make it worst.

I gave Zelda a 7/10 here and I would say that for me, Immortal Fenyx rising is superior in many ways. The combat is great, the world is filled with a lot of interesting puzzles and quests, moving and climbing feel fluid and not like a chore, puzzles are great !
Immortal Feny Rising is not a Zelda clone though…It feels more like a mix of Zelda, Darksiders 2 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. I would even say that 1/3 of the world make me think of each game I mentioned. It seems that Ubisoft re-used some assets from AC Odyssey but in a more cartoonish way.
In terms of graphic quality, it is pretty cool overall. In my opinion, just the character modeling left to be desired. The story is a bit above average for me but nothing outstanding like The Witcher 3 or some Yakuza games.
So, how this game compares to other PS5 games ? I rate it as a 8,8/10 so 9 here on Metacritic. I had a lot of fun playing this game, the puzzles are varied and great, the difficulty is well balanced (a bit more on the easy side though…) and there is good value (my playthrough lasted 75 hours with a lot of side content completed). Would I consider it as a masterpiece ? No but it doesn’t lack much ! I strongly recommend this great game from Ubisoft Quebec !

The only thing that holds me back from a 10 is the somewhat repetitive enemies in each area. However, combat is top notch and just becomes more engaging with every upgrade and skill unlock. Definitely has a breath of the wild feel at times but I think it is more taking inspiration from it than thoughtless copy and paste. Some criticize the puzzles being too easy but I found them appropriate in most situations. Some I figured out instantly and some required a little thought but I never got frustrated or felt like they were too simple, the balance felt right for me. The characters are fun and entertaining and you can easily enjoy losing 40-50 hours to this game if you seek out all the skins and upgrade materials. Fenyx clearly sets out to be a fun, light-hearted game, and to that end, it is succeeds. And despite feeling somewhat "safe" and not especially innovative, it avoids the formulaic feel typical of Ubisoft franchises. Performance and resolution are solid (60fps, dynamic 4k, HDR). And DualSense haptic/trigger support is pretty good too. Recommend.

The only thing that doesn't make Immortals a 10 is that the open world is too busy: I prefer open worlds with a bigger breather between places, icons or missions. More space to sink in the beauty and atmosphere, which is aplenty here!!

The game design is top notch, controls are great and the camera is almost flawless. Numerous skill options are available early the game and then you can quickly start to upgrade to your liking.

Yes, it’s very inspired by Breath of the Wild, but that’s an amazing inspiration to start from! Aaaand, BoTW didn't invent the open world genre, or the climbing mechanic etc. Other games contributed to the inspiration behind this particular Zelda game, including the very noteworthy Shadow of the Colossus. Immortals does its own thing in its own ways. I hope for more titles like this from Ubisoft Quebec. A Viking Immortals would be fabulous! So MUCH can be done from this starting point.

Graphics are beautiful, music is enticing and well used. I personally love the humor: I didn’t think I would with my initial exposure to it from the 1st cinematic, but it gets better and then, later on, it’s not too intrusive and fits well in the overall package. In fact, the narrators and characters become part of the story and it wouldn’t be the same without them. Maybe you need to be young at heart to find it funny, who knows? Just don’t take the game too seriously and you will have fun!

    It’s a great experience of a game :D

As for the puzzles, they are mostly putting character in a get from point A to point B, and start off easier with weight a switch down with a box sort of thing and eventually have you dodging mythological lasers and timing arrow shots and speed running courses with time limits to get to point B or treasures . Other challenges are the boss fights which can be challenging, but aside form dying, you can replay over and over until you figure it out.

Although there is a solid main quest, many of the NPCs you engage with and/or rescue have their own quests and there are some special puzzle quests outside the main that are amazing!

AAA title not getting attention it deserves, but glad to see User scores higher than critics.

The fact that i finish this game in Platinum means it is super fun and worth it. but, in my opinion there are valid reasons why it is super fun. It is because most of (if not all) of the things i enjoyed and loved about it are copies from BOTW in fact, they didn't actually do a pretty good job. the battle system, exploration, world settings are more polished in BOTW and feels realistic and natural. It felt like nostalgia and re-skin of BOTW. what is worse, they attempt to combine it with Assassins creed formula. AC formula of new gen is really really bad. BORING, and repetitive world. at the end of the day it is still super fun. now lets go to positives and what is new and unique about this game. first is the story. I love the re-telling of Greek Mythology stories, what's not to like? it was not as bad as AC next Gens. and lastly, its for not stretching it too much. i manage to finish the game by not vomiting for over stretching the game. There are some bad result for combining AC and BOTW but there are few that went pretty well. Its the loot, progression, and level up system. And lastly, its capability to glide.

This is honestly one of the most boring games I have played in recent memory. The majority of the puzzles involve putting objects on pressure plates to open a door or proceed further. You encounter these puzzles A LOT and they get very boring very quickly.

I'm giving it a 5/10 mainly because it is a functioning game. I did not encounter any bugs and it ran well, but I did not enjoy playing it. Overall I cannot recommend this game unless you are looking for a more linear story-driven alternative to Breath of the Wild. There are so many better open-world games and if you're looking for a game with a humorous take on Greek Mythology, HADES is much more enjoyable in that regard.

So the critics judge it harshly after comparing with BotW, while the gamers are getting into it and appreciate it's actual merits. Big world but something interesting always close by, amusing dialogue, nice graphics, responsive controls, puzzles not too hard, some challenges, weapon that doesn't annoyingly break. Get it you won't be sorry.i played it on Switch.

Imo it's the best ubisoft game this year and one of the best overall. I've completed WD:L and it was good enough. AC:V looked great at first but quickly became very dull and boring so I've given up after 40 hours (Ghost of Tsushima was soooo much better). And finally Immortals is just pure fun! It's grindy, very grindy. But the thing is - i dunno how, but the grind here is fun. Yeah, youImo it's the best ubisoft game this year and one of the best overall. Yeah, you need 10+ resources which are all scattered on the map, but all elements of gameplay loop are simple and relaxing. And, importantly, all activities are rewarding.
About the story - it somehow reminds me of DnD party with two drunk DMs. Not much sense, very much fun. Yeah, I said "fun" again.

They just crank them out and none of them do the new generation of consoles any justice.

This offering is supposedly from the team who bought you odyssey which i enjoyed. I mean it was fun, collecting and getting everything until you hit the 70 hour mark and give up. I mean Odyssey was long and i never finished it, i did get every collectable, target, side mission etc all the way up to like the final island but these games drive the most patient of us insane especially if you are a collector.

Fenyx I guess is a comedy of sorts based on the greek mythologically but they're careful to avoid the actual county fenyx comes from, what they were doing on the boat or ANY background whatsoever. As i haven't finished it, i'm guessing her brother isn't her real brother, neither is her mother or father and she's some sort of rip off hercules story straight from a disney movie.

Gameplay is bland to put it mildly. You beat puzzles an 8 year old can beat (thanks go to my nephew for proving that) and generally collect things. By things i mean EVERYTHING you're going to be awash with types of things you collect. Her bag itself must be some sort of magical thing.

But and this is where the line is drawn from me, it feels like they ripped BotW and added assassins creed with host of mythological BS into it. Not even the good parts of BotW, go play that instead. You're in for a treat. The puzzles are fantastic, the exploration is phenomenal and the characters you meet are amazing as well as the boss battles and just everything.

This is NOT breath of the wild. It lacks the charm, the wonderful map, the exploration and the way it drip feeds you more and more information and help as you go in typical zelda fashion. And when it overloads you with collectables - it's mostly ingredients (that make sense for a game not based in reality - apples, etc). Fenyx on the other hand.... it just feels like a mockery rather than an inspiration.

And they should have kept the main character mute. It'd have been so much better. Go play breath of the wild, and if you've played it. Don't soil the memory of an excellent game by playing... this ... greek tragedy. Ubisoft take some time out. Change things with your games without trying to copy what others have done with your own mediocre gameplay. please. DLC can't fix it.

one good thing which is why this gets 5 not a 4. No microtransactions. I know right. IN a Ubisoft game. It's a miracle.

Loved it, didn't want it to end, highly recommend. For the first hour or so it is hard not to notice the similarities between this an BOTW (there are a lot and they are blatant) but you will quickly discover that this game has so much more to offer. The open world is easily one of the best I've had the pleasure of exploring. From the screenshots and videos I had seen I was not expecting it to look this good. This is the first open world game I have played on a new gen console and admittedly I wasn't blown away at first but there is a point early in the game where the map is opened up to you to explore and from that moment I was continually in awe of the view. At night you can stand at one side of the map and look at a mountain on the complete other side of the map and you can see every light as it flickers. I have not seen this level of detail before and it still amazes me. All that would mean nothing if the world wasn't fun to explore and the gameplay wasn't up there with the best and I can happily report that this is definitely the case. I enjoyed the story and found the characters interesting. Don't be turned off by people saying the humor in the story is bad or forced. I thought it added a lot to the game and struggle to see how it could be annoying as it doesn't happen often enough and when it does the writing is quite good. The combat remains fun throughout helped by the easy leveling up system. There should be enough RPG elements to keep the majority of RPG fans happy but it doesn't demand you spend a lot of time on that side of things. It ran nicely on the PS5. I played the first 15 minutes on graphics mode and then changed it and kept it on performance mode for the rest of my playthrough and can't remember noticing any performance issues.
If you like open world games do yourself a favor and play this game, you will not regret it.

A game that does not hide its inspirations, mainly in Zelda BOTW and AC Odyssey. However, he manages to show himself original in very cool aspects, such as a more humorous narrative and an excellent, more cartoonish artistic style. I recommend it to all fans of both traditional franchises like Zelda and Assassin's Creed as well as lovers of the RPG genre and open world games!

It is very hard to avoid comparing Immortals to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Despite obvious inspirations it is a typical Ubi-game with all its pros and cons, an inventory screen copied almost exactly from Assassin’s Creed, and a store with premium items. Anyhow, it’s Ubisoft’s most interesting game in years, definitely worth checking out for its satisfying exploration accompanied by simple combat and tons of good puzzles. [01/2021, p.62]

Ubisoft's open-world titles can invoke burnout towards their conclusion - crumbling under their own weight due to their size. Instead, this is a real palette cleanser. It feels like it hits that real sweet spot in the genre of the open-world adventure games. The world is large but enjoyable to explore, with just enough to do, and the constant commentary keeping things interesting. This combined with the genuinely funny and smart writing results in something that will be the big surprise hit for many.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Breath of the Wild set the bar for the genre, and since Link never got around to visiting Ancient Greece – there’s no shame in sending Fenyx there instead. [Issue#251, p.56]
