    This is just a DLC for the first game but without the story.
    combat is awkward, you walk through fauna, its laughable. MPCs/enamies are beyond crazy, they are dumber than bricks.

    Hard pass.

    Probablement la plus grosse déception depuis longtemps. J'avais des attentes très élevées. L'histoire est fade et sans imagination, le gameplay est très ennuyeux. Même les graphismes loués sont décevants. J'ai vraiment laissé tomber la balle ici.

    Looks very pretty plays well enough but storyline is uninspiring after HZD. It could have been so much better the game is basically HZD with a new map and new robots got bored pretty fast.

Performance is where it falls too with the framerate dropping into the mid to low 20s, especially in dino fights where it can get really choppy. Audio is the best thing about the game which isn't saying much, and the game has way too many cutscenes you could make a movie out of them.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a game! Seriously, the main story had me glued to the controller, with twists and turns that kept me intrigued the whole time. And that flying thing? It's a blast! you'll feel like a bird soaring over those mind-blowing landscapes. The sunrises and sunsets look straight out of a fairy tale, I swear, I couldn't help but get lost in them.

    Some of the side quests... well, yeah, I got into many of them, but others felt like a constant déjà vu. Repetitive to the max. That kinda took a bit of shine off the experience.

    In a nutshell, Horizon Forbidden West is a fantastic game, with its gripping story, the thrill of flying that gives you goosebumps, and landscapes that are jaw-dropping. Just be careful with those side quests, as sometimes they went a bit overboard with the copy-paste. Now, go out there and have a blast!    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Horizon Forbidden West is lazy, unseasoned, cashgrab and an insult to anyone who plays it.

    I have played and completed both Horizon 1 with DLC, and Horizon Forbidden West, so this review comes as someone who has played both games and compares 1 to the other while playing them.

    HFW is FULL of fluff content to make up for a lack of content. EVERYTHING is a puzzle. Need to get up to the top of a flight of stairs? Parkour here, jump here, climb this, jump there, etc. It makes events that would be easily tackled take an additional 5-10 minutes to do. It removes you from the gameplay experience to do anything at all. The first game didn't bog you down in the same way. HZD was fun in its exploration, HFW is a chore. A miserable chore. Want to climb a tall neck to expand the map? Sure, get to the tallneck, now complete a side mission unique to that tall neck. Cool, now you can climb it. For all of them. This is lazy.

    The story isn't engaging in the same way either. For a lot of it I didn't care, then when I started to care, the writers legit said "I'm crunched for time, this makes sense", and listen to me, NO IT DIDN'T. The story seems to aim to be more realistic while failing to be realistic. The only person held to the standard of realism, is you the player. Which brings me to the next issue.

    Aloy. Aloy didn't improve at all since HZD. The human enemies can block, parry, dodge, take cover, and seem to have an infinite amount of ammo. Aloy on the other hand can't do any of those things. The robots are MUCH more responsive than the first game. They're harder to knock down, harder to kill, and have some many abilities and high movement speed it's almost bothersome to even fight them. You also get knocked down, a lot. And you stay down, to be beaten to death before you can get up. And your only way to really beat the robots is with ammo, but you don't have a lot. Because of your limitation, ammo.

    You NEED ammo to beat the robots of the game, resources have become far harder to come across because EVERYTHING requires resources. Because to my first point, everything is bogged down with fluff because the game lacks substance. Your green armor can be leveled up with resources 3 to 4 times. But so does every other weapon and armor in the game. This was done to add content and longevity to the game. I'm telling you now, it wasn't fun, and I didn't level any armor up fully.

    Graphically the game is beautiful, but I beat the game in August of 2023. Every cutscene, Aloy's hair went wild with animations. The game is 69.99 in the PSN store right now.

    The enemies are futuristic humans with 1000s of years on our character and their allies. They have light shields that reflect all damage, mechs, and energy weapons. They lost...to enemies...shooting arrows at them. The writers created enemies that the character couldn't beat, so bad writing pushed the narrative along so they could surprise you with "Horizon 3!!!?!"

    In conclusion, HFW is a spit in the face of gamers. They didn't care. It's a cash grab. It's full of fluff to keep the game going, terrible pacing, a weak character compared to BASIC human enemies, and even more so the robots and main enemies of the game. They caught lightning in a bottle the first time. The 2nd time was corporate forcing them to "do it again", and they failed. The fact that this was even nominated for Game of the Year is an insult to all of our intelligence.    … Expand

    I never played the first game, but lord above was the main character lady the most annoying self righteous person ever! I finished this game and immediately deleted it. I threw away the disk and wished I never played it utterly **** Robot dinosaurs are cool but they became both boring and menial. 3/10 not very good,

The level design, immersive and inspired by real-life environments, ironically hampers combat fluidity. It's far too easy to become ensnared in terrain, limiting mobility and frustrating the overall experience. Melee combat, in particular, feels cumbersome and unpolished. This is a missed opportunity, as a symbiotic relationship between melee and ranged combat could have been deeply satisfying.

    Further combat-related concerns persist. Engaging the mechanical beasts one-on-one is an uphill struggle; they tend to amass in groups, often near other packs. Alerting one often triggers an alert for the rest, resulting in chaotic, protracted battles devoid of respite or the chance to secure vital loot. Stealth as a combat mechanic feels monotonous and formulaic—hardly innovative given its common presence in open world games. This also extends to combat against human foes, which feels repetitive and uninspiring.

    Regrettably, mobility lacks variety and intrigue. Much of the time, you'll find yourself walking or riding mechanical creatures, contributing to a considerable portion of the game feeling mindlessly traversed. Climbing mechanics are clunky and unrefined, a consistent issue throughout the gameplay.

    The storyline is a convoluted mess, replete with excessive dialogue and an intricate plot revolving around immortal humans who left Earth. It veers drastically from the already imaginative premise of Zero Dawn, severely affecting narrative coherence and world believability. It seems as though the writers struggled to harness the captivating world previously established. Dialogue comes across as juvenile, characters remain underdeveloped, and gameplay feels disconnected from the plot's essence. This discord undermines the world-building established in Horizon Zero Dawn, introducing flaws that undermine immersion. Scaling back the story's stakes could have mitigated these issues, as not every game requires a world-saving narrative.

    The game's redeeming qualities lie in its exceptional graphics, sound design, and music. These elements converge to create an immersive atmosphere, elevating the overall gameplay experience. Notably, the endgame—seeking out formidable machines for enhanced weaponry—echoes the gameplay loop of Monster Hunter, albeit underexplored due to the plethora of competing game elements.

    Side quests often lack allure, trapped in a formulaic structure that necessitates halting progress, enduring mundane dialogue, and engaging in repetitive machine battles. This content, while explored, fails to captivate as effectively as similar endeavors by other studios in the open-world genre.

    "HFW" underscores the significance of thoughtful planning. The inaugural "Horizon" game embarked on a daring journey into ambitious open-world design, enhanced by captivating storytelling and innovative mechanics. Regrettably, Guerrilla Studios missed the opportunity to build on this strong foundation, expanding the game into a sprawling sandbox. Consequently, the content feels uninspired, and core gameplay mechanics remain unpolished. The enchantment has waned, leaving a facade of style without substance.     But I'm going to give this game only a 1 because of the graphics. Why the main character doesn't feel the same as the previous game? why do they make it more "unlikeble".. And I don't want to spoil it but I found out what happens in the DLC... 70 dollars to the trash.

    Summary: Overall, it was fun to play to a point where the good gameplay cannot hide the fact that this ultra woke story is not does not fit into that post apocalyptical setting. When this breaks and u still are mid, game the other half is more like a burden. If you compare it to Zero Dawn this is a poor sequel.

    I ve played the first game and i loved it for when it was released it had some cool gameplay mechanics and a somewhat good story. This game brings nothing new except better graphics. The story is so bland to almost non existent. The armor design and weapons suck, they do not look cool, they dont feel like they belong in a post apocaliptic ravaged world, they look just plain ugly! Virtually all men are portrayed as stupid, arrogant, corrupt, or self-centered; women are exaggeratedly placed as leaders, including a side quest where you have to depose a foreman to give Petra a place in command and another where you have to choose between fighting the head of a tribe or one of her soldiers for a difference of opinions; inGuerrilla managed to spoil a wonderful game. It's quite buggy and the gameplay feels like Tomb Raider which shouldn't be bad - but you fight mechanical beasts as a Paleolithic woman which still feels goofy. The story isn't so good, the lead character was also made chubbier and given a lesbian romance. This wouldn't be an issue if like most thingsI really didn't enjoy the first one, and playing this one it weren't any better.     I had a great experience with the game itself, but the DLC left me feeling terrible. I am not prejudiced against homosexuality, but I feel there was no reason for the main character to be a lesbian. It felt forced and unnatural.

    As i can tell you the Performance mode is not working as should it be has a lot of bugs. Horrible aliasing at 60 fps. A New performance update it's necessary to be done to this game.

    I was surprised this pile of **** has gotten a sequel. Well it's worse than the original. Alloy is still her ow annoying self, except made uglier. A lot of other characters (NPCs) were made uglier as well, in a postmodernist attempt to make everything ugly.

    Gameplay, has pretty much the same flaws I mentioned in my Horizon Zero Dawn review, you can check those out.

    Loved the zero dawn, but this feels like milking on the same game engine. Couldnt play more than 2 hours, soundtrack is annoying, “boss” fights are just stupid. Graphics looks terrible. Flames looks like from super mario. Honestly i have no idea why people are rating it that high. Maybe they are high, and this is the very first game they played since ps1 baught along with ps5.

    Other issues I have: 1) climbing; I’d rather the game not have it if it’s going to be implemented in such a way. Seconds long animations to move a few pixels gets old instantly.
    2) collision: constantly getting stuck on collision geometry. Riding the metal dinosaurs isn’t even worth it 90% of the time because they will get stuck on everything. 3) Farming and upgrades: RNG padding as heck. I don’t need to say more.

    AAA games are all starting to feel the same and major fault lies in how games are balanced. Balance the same as any AAA game and it’s going to feel and play like any other AAA game. I want parameters to adjust game speed, timing windows, RNG mechanics, enemy health, and so on. I’ll balance this myself, since this industry is too lazy to do anything other than try-hard nonsense.    … Expand

    I bought a PS5 for this game, yea, not for GoWR, but for this piece of junk. Because I loved HZD. Here is what I want to say as a HZD fan:

In HZD you can choose whatever weapons because you craft unlimited ammo on the run. Some weapons are weak but you have quantity. The most affected weapons are tripcasters, you can place 4 at the most and do funny damage, not to mention they break very easily.
    2. missions are so terrible in HFW, basically all filler quests to trap you in this game forever. And there are so many! The rewards are also negligible.
    3. puzzles are now very unintuitive. Back when I was playing HZD, I only checked YouTube a few times because I got stuck. But HFW gets me stuck all the time, they added a lot of shenanigans, all aimed at trapping you in this game forever.
    4. crafting is purely horrible. Requires so much and gives so little, especially in the early game, if you don't know where to buy the materials, you'll have to fight difficult monsters to strip down their tiny parts before killing them, so you can get a funny +1 stat on your gears. It's so hard to tear down machine parts during the early game. Or you can google where to buy the parts, which takes away all the fun of crafting.

    Conclusion: This game is such a disappointment. I purposely bought PS5 and this game right before burning shores comes out, now I'm not even sure if I'm going to buy it. Disappointment of the Year for me.    … Expand

The crafting system is obnoxious, map traversal is unrewarding, none of the characters are memorable enough to care about, and the combat is monotonous. This game feels like a job in retail. After 50+ hours, I couldn't bring myself to continue and clicked uninstall. Massive disappointment.

    After about 15 hrs I changed the difficulty to easy and mainlined the story to just finish the thing. This is a very good looking game but looks fade and then you're stuck with a massive open world with a lot of busy work and a upgrade system that's incredibly dull - 3 stars, what a disappointment

    The only reason to play it, is for killing your time and just to say "I finished it".
    Compared to games like witcher 3, the last of us.. How the hell you rate this so high??!

I was so excited to see the continuation of what was supposed to be a dynamic spunky and witty redhead take on new and exciting puzzles, machines and historical conflicts. I think I'm not the first to say that I would have been more than fine with waiting until the world could heal from Covid so the game could actually have been made properly and with love. I can completely understand how this game wasn't even nominated as "Game of The Year" its unimaginative storyline, annoying characters and the inability for anything part of the game to be properly saturated is so infuriating. The game menu (where the notebook, inventory and map can be found) is too dark and outdated. When looking at dyed outfits you can barely see a difference between a bright fuschia and a deep blue because they both look brown with the incredibly dark and ugly background making everything look muddy and prehistoric. Then when you traverse the excessive map you have to look away from half the sights because the colors make you nauseous and leave you with a piercing headache (as if Varl and any of the other characters don't already). Aloy becomes this stand-of-ish character that has no head and wants to just bruteforce everything as compared to the shy and pessimistic clever girl she was. I think it would be tolerable if the other characters from the previous game didn't give Aloy such a hard time for leaving to SAVE THE WORLD!! The puzzles are pretty hard and leave players scanning over and over as they try to remember what tools they have and what controls it takes to use. Not to mention that most grappling points are finicky at best and most of the time leave Aloy falling from great heights which force you to do the climb all over again. I was so excited when I got a preview of the new cool tools we would be getting in the new game (the glider especially) it turned out to be even more disappointing. The glider mostly falls and doesn't actually take Aloy anywhere but down. The spears are cool but getting them to hit their target is as frustrating as listening to Varl flirt with his tree hugging girlfriend. I wanted so much for this game to be great and was so disappointed by the outcome. I guess that's you get for getting your coding degree via Zoom.… Expand

Até o combate em que havia certa estratégia no primeiro game foi perdido no segundo, o gráfico do DLC Frozen Wilds ficou muito melhor que deste segundo game.     For a game that is all about climbing and shooting things, both of those aspects of this game are bad. Clunky movement, awkward shooting mechanics, too many weapons, all in all, this game seems to be a downgrade from the first.

    Horizon has enchanted me again. After a slow start, a graphically beautiful, sophisticated sequel comes, polished in every aspect, and underscored by a great soundtrack on top of that. The sequel was simply a success. Everything that worked before works even slightly better now. [Issue#317]

    Horizon Forbidden West is Guerrilla's best game to date, taking Aloy to new heights with a blockbuster release that meets the high standards set by PlayStation in recent years. While it's totally worth fans jumping in on day one, it's perhaps better to wait a few weeks until all the bugs are ironed out.

    Horizon Forbidden West is exactly what everyone thought it would be: an amazing game. It has an open world with plenty of things to do and places to explore, fights against some really well-developed machines and stunning visuals. The feeling is that the second game of the series improves on what was already great, and it feels rewarding and fun to play. It is another single-player masterpiece from Sony.
