We have all iconic vehicles like a few broomstick, testrals, hippogryphs and one new. Exploring is really interesting, because we have a lot, but not too much entertainment on the map like puzzles, side quests, nice landscapes, interesting words of mouths and challenges. Hogwarts Legacy offer us all things from movies, from lessons to Chamber of Wish (sims legacy). I really enjoy decorate my own place in Hogward. The main plot is creative, maybe not so dark and adult, but remember HP universe is family friendly. Gameplay is much better than I think before bought the game. We have almost 25 spells and combos are really fun. Additional points for role playing possibility, but I won't spoil the game. Expand

Two words : Mixed feelings. Hogwarts Legacy shines the brightest when you explore the corridors of Hogwarts, the streets of hogmeads or the sinister paths of the forbbiden forest. If the game took place in these only three locations, with the marvelous soundtrack and the fantastic lore this universe have to offer, the game would've been a masterpiece and a serious goty contender.

Sadly, the game is plagued with an unnessesary/empty open world, an uninteresting story/protagonist with a frankly weird pacing, more than I could count visual/game breaking bugs and glitches. (One had me reload a prior save file because a dungeon would not load properly). Another thing that really annoyed the heck out of me were the same 5-6 lines that were repeated over and over and over again all game long. (You'll get what I'm saying right away if you play the game). Still a great game. If you like Harry Potter/Fantastic beasts, it's an absolute must. Completionists P.S: aaaaa drag, the words "Merlin Trials" will make you want throw up.

I’ve been playing video games since the early 80s and it’s rare that a game impresses me this much right off the bat. HL has done that and more: top-notch story, next-gen graphics, pro dialogue, music worthy of a John Williams nod, great controls, leveling up, gameplay options,… the game is basically perfect. I highly recommended if you’re into adventure of the wizard of kind!

Absolutely stunning world with an amazing story, although some of the companion questlines don't feel as well fleshed out as others. Combat is fun but controls somewhat clunky. The content outside of the main story was not very entertaining. The gap between beating the final boss and finishing the main quest line was so tiring I almost put the game down before finishing it.

I thought Hogwarts Legacy was really good. I felt immersed in the world, something you don't get from the movies. Towards the end I got bored though, because of the the repetitive gameplay. The story could of been better but the visuals were top notch. I found myself stopping to admire the world around me, it was absolute eye candy.

Very good game and still fun for those like me that didn't read all the books. Pace is almost laid back at times, which was nice when I didn't want tons of combat. Character moments were passable, although I doubt the story will dazzle too many people. The magic system is the best part (and is definitely better than how you start with the basic attack) and the world looks beautiful and is generally interesting to explore. However, years of open world games have drained me, and I enjoyed this game by only playing the main and select side quests (I don't do the 'points of interest' anymore- I have other things in life that need some of my time) On that note, the PS exclusive side quest was surprisingly extensive. Loot is too bountiful, and the system to upgrade was not for me so I used the same kit for the entire 2nd half of the game. Overall, it's a very well-made game that gets a bit samey if you try everything on the map, but I never felt like I was being smothered in the same amount of open world bloat like many recent games have dumped on me. When it was all over, I actually wish there was more to the school experience at Hogwarts in terms of things to do, but I get that the game felt the need to expand beyond that location to stay fresh. The graphics look amazing and the combat is quite fun, therefore I would recommend this game to Harry Potter fans, this is what you've been dreaming of.

This game is far from perfect however. While the combat is fun, there is a lot of spells that have the exact same function which feels cluttered and using a lot of different spells fast feels quite awkard. While they're fun, you're able to stun any enemy indefinitely. This means that the only way the game introduces difficulty is by making you fight a lot of enemies at the same time. To add to that, there is very few enemies types in this game, making every fight repetitive, including the "boss" fights against strong enemies. Going into hard mode doesn't really fix this, because that just makes the gank fights impossible to play.

Also the characters are completely empty and uninteresting. There's 1 interesting sidequest line that has an open ending and besides that I could not care at all about any other quests or characters. Also there's a lot of little missions in the castle. A lot! And by a lot I mean like 4, but they're all recycled 100 times like it's AC.

Not just the sidequests, but also the main quest is completely uninteresting with uninteresting antagonists.

I don't get why this still happens? CDPR showed the world how to make fun sidquests and Rockstar and Naughty Dog showed the world how to make fun characters. How can a game with this much development time have such uninteresting, boring quests and characters. This stuff could fly in Ubisoft games around the 2010's but it's been a while since then.

TL;DR It's fun to explore the world and mess around if you love Harry Potter, if you don't this is just another generic RPG with trailing missions, okay combat and a super uninteresting plot. Real shame.

However despite these things it does good it does have some flaws that I don't see many people talking about. I am a big Harry Potter fan but despite that I wanna be unbiased with the game and critiques on it. The open world is very boring after the initial "Honeymoon" phase. It is essentially a low grade ubisoft open world that consist of "caves/dungeons" that result in walking maybe thirty yards just to find a chest of an item that is under your level and maybe the occasional basic enemy. The merlin trials are pretty skippable once you upgrade your gear slots about two times. As you can just easily go to the vendor and sell all non essential items. The enemy camps have no interesting reason to try to explore as it's just lackluster loot after you fight about fifteen or so enemies. The exploration in the castle isn't even that fun once you realize that 99% of the stuff is just collectible pages and more disappointing loot. It really does take the fun out of it as there is so much more potential to be had. There are the occasional good side quest but I would say the best side quests in this game are equal to the worse side quests of a game like what the Wither 3 has to offer. I did find the dark arts quest pretty cool and just really wish there was more stuff of that level more abundantly in the game. The broom flight is really cool and so are the mounts. Although, the broom upgrades feel like there is no difference at all which is a bummer. The Room of requirement and taming the beast were also pleasantly fun and cool to delve into. However I just don't find the positives of the game to bring it past a mediocre game. Overall it is mediocre but lack of interesting sidequest, boring open world with copy paste activities, basic story, mediocre voice acting, and only a few characters that are actually likeable make it hard to really give it a higher score sadly. I would give it a 6.5 out of ten if we could do decimals in the rating. Not bad but certainly not a 9 out of 10 or even an 8. Expand

Game Of The Year 2023?

One of my favorite aspects of the game was the ability to soar through the skies on a mount, engaging in exhilarating battles against goblins with my trusty magic wand. The combat mechanics were surprisingly enjoyable, proving that fighting with a wand can be incredibly entertaining. It exceeded my expectations!

While the story may not be mind-blowing, it is definitely satisfying. Hogwarts Legacy is definitely the most immersive HP experience that you can get today, I have finished the game at around 50 hours but there were still things to do around the map if I desired.

    PROS:

    - Immersive well established universe

    - A lot of attention to details, Hogwarts feels alive and it's a pleasure to walk through the halls and take it all in

    - You get to have the student experience, attend classes, go to Hogsmeade, all the things you've always wanted to do in this universe

    - The game is set 100 years before the HP events ( meaning that you won't get to see any HP characters but you do find some ancestors around the castle), however it manages to quickly gain your attention and make you forget about the initial HP story that you perhaps expect

    - Combat is better than I anticipated, making combos out of spells is really fun - A lot of extra activities, side quests, puzzles, you even get your own designable space with multiple outdoor places for the beasts you collect

    - Flying on a broom or mount feels satisfying - You can customize your look to your preference no matter what you have equiped

    CONS:

    - Side characters feel kinda weak, the professors are definitely the most interesting ones and it's a shame they aren't involved into the story/quests more often

    - Story is okay but won't blow you away, the main villains aren't as iconic as Voldemort but they get the job done

    - Main character and the fast travel lady sometimes repeat the same things way too often when entering certain places

    - Personally I would've enjoyed more action/content inside Hogwarts and in the Forbidden forest as those are the most mesmerizing attractions -Quidditch would've been nice but I can understand why implementing all the systems for that could be quite consuming, hopefully in a DLC or future game

Overall strongly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the HP Universe and wants to roleplay as a Hogwarts student

I really enjoy the gameplay, world has alot of attention to detail, I enjoy some of the side characters alot, I like the transmog system, and it's a very enjoyable experience for anyone who likes WW. Also I like that it isn't a 60 hour bloat fest to complete the main story, solid 20-30 to beat the main story while experiencing alot of what the game has to offer, but it also offers content to play and get in plenty of playtime if you want.
Its downsides for me are the story in terms of the layers and RPG aspects, it really lacks in those areas, its held up by strong characters and a very captivating world but a really barebones story. I also think it could've had a much better end game villain or one that was more fleshed out because they kinda dropped the ball there.

It's been a decade since we've had a full Potterverse game, but the wait has been well worth it. Hogwarts Legacy gets just about everything right, with its involving storyline and myriad of main and side quests. Perhaps its finest feature though is Hogwarts itself, providing as much joy in just exploring the halls as performing set tasks. We doubt a single Harry Potter fan will be disappointed. We certainly weren't.
