Apr 7, 2023Except for the fascinating artistic component, which starting from that distant 2007 would become Vanillaware's trademark, GrimGrimoire OnceMore is an imperfect product and not quite worthy of the fame that the Japanese developer enjoys today, also because the reissue has retained most of the defects found in the original. However, since this is one of his very first works, we recommend its recovery not so much for RTS enthusiasts, who may find it too short and shallow, but for fans of George Kamitani and his incredible team of artists.

Apr 4, 2023I mostly enjoyed GrimGrimoire OnceMore and it still looks lovely but at the same time, its gameplay isn't all that involving, especially after you master the basics which doesn't take all that long.

Apr 19, 2023I have to admit how pleasantly surprised I was by how much I enjoyed my time with GrimGrimoire OnceMore. I didn’t anticipate how much I would love the game’s overall atmosphere and real-time strategy combat. It’s also appreciable that the game doesn’t outstay its welcome, clocking in just shy of ten hours, though this can vary based on the difficulty and how much of the trial content is completed. It’s definitely not a game for everyone, but it has such a unique charm to it that it’s worth checking out.

Mar 31, 2023If you’re into RTS games, I’d definitely consider this but maybe not at the expense of more well-established titans of the genre.

Mar 31, 2023Vertical 2D battles in a giant tower are a great USP, but GrimGrimoire can’t reach the pinnacle with a battle system more bloated and complex than fun. Vanillaware’s beautiful signature artwork and clever narratives are as ageless now as they were back in 2007, but some design choices leave a bitter aftertaste.
