Gran Turismo 7 is the most complete game in the series, uniting its offline past with what was learned in GT Sport. The control with DualSense is amazing. [Recommended]

Nothing about GT7 is revolutionary, but the game feels like a GT title through and through, striking a careful gameplay balance with just the right amount of grinding. It's the kind of game that can turn a 30-minute session into a marathon before you know it, with a dose of comfortable familiarity thrown in for good measure...I'll be playing this one for quite some time.

For all its many quirks and oddities, there's a good chance you'll end up admiring Gran Turismo 7's steadfast idealism. Couple the quality of the driving experience – both mechanically and visually – with the sheer quantity of lovingly crafted stuff packed into this game, and you have the series’ finest entry since 2001’s Gran Turismo 3 way back on the PlayStation 2. Simply put: no other driving game feels as good as this one. If you don't love cars just yet, then this GT7 will do its damndest to make you a convert.

It's a sumptuous, arrestingly gorgeous thing that most importantly retains its enthusiast's heart under the graphical showcase, and that does its level best to make a car enthusiast out of anyone in its orbit. Is it the king of driving games once more? The genre's now too broad and too varied to make such a statement, though Gran Turismo finds itself a neat slot alongside the likes of Assetto Corsa and iRacing, presenting accessible driving that looks simply staggering. Is it the best that Gran Turismo to date? Of that there's no real doubt. [Eurogamer Recommended]

If it’s ever tempting to think that Polyphony has been left behind by the times, we should remember that the Sport mode is its greatest achievement of the past decade, and that it remains without peer in its field. And if it seems striking that GT and its closest current mass-market competitor, Forza Horizon, now seem to be operating in different worlds — stylistically, philosophically, structurally — we should consider ourselves lucky to be able to enjoy two such distinctive approaches, both executed at the highest level. With GT7, Gran Turismo continues to be a glorious anomaly: a game made with different goals and to different standards than any other; a game made in service to a singular, individual vision; a game that’s all science and engineering on the outside, and all history and heart within.

I still remember getting the original PS1 release along with the just-launched DualShock controller for my birthday as a kid — it felt like a monumental advancement in racing games. Gran Turismo 7 is the most fun I’ve had with the series since that moment because it plays to its traditional strengths, improves those where it can, and ignores absolutely everything else.

They force online only connection, even for single player in order to keep tabs on their most prized aspect of the game - credits and microtransactions. The game has seen an update to drastically reduce race payouts, and the promise of being able to sell your extra cars has been cut from the game. All actions to entice the player to spend real world money on in game currency. Polyphony used to be my favorite developer, but it's clear that top down orders from SONY have changed their priorities from consumer enjoyment to shareholder's bottom line. Full Review »

Say hello to another game that ruined its economy just after the launch/review window for the sake of microtransactions.

I used to love the series. It did some questionable choices for the sake of money as far back as GT5 (selling single use paints as DLC, for instance), but it was never egregious, certainly nothing like today's games can get. GT7, however, already started out as mean with its rewards (chiefly the roulette spins that just happen to give you the lowest reward 90% of the time), and with the latest patch, they turned the game into a total grindfest that also tries to tug on your FOMO strings (e.g. the system of invitations: brief windows to buy expensive cars you most likely can't afford)... unless you'd like to buy some in-game currency *nudge* *nudge*

I badly regret buying this game. I'd love a refund, but after two weeks of playing daily, I doubt I'd get it (PSN is notorious for being stingy with those at the best of times)
