This game is about a 7.8 for me. On one hand It does have some good moments and some thoughtful puzzles with some aha moments. I did get scared by the monsters and it has good tension and atmosphere.

But on the other hand, it only has a couple of monster types excluding the bosses( of which there are three) and towards the end of the game the puzzles tended to become a little bit of a chore. Don't get me wrong there are several well done puzzles in the game. But there are so many of them that they grind down your stamina a bit on your way to the finish line. And sometimes you can become lost on what do for quite a while. My biggest complaint I guess is the story. Its got mystery and intrigue but by the end of the game its not really to clear on what is or has happened. It doesn't feel like a big enough pay off. And that's if you manage to pick the right ending. The other one explains nothing.

A minor note, there is a trophy that expects you to beat the game without taking any damage, which I don't really see as possible in this game. Especially with an enemy that if you manage to miss it crawling on the wall attaches itself to you and you take damage immediately with no way to prevent it once its happened.

All in all I love horror games and I have played a lot of them. I enjoyed my time in this one for the most part, but i doubt I'll replay it anytime soon. I would like to see another horror game from them, I just hope its a little more refined.

Be careful: This game is a 1st PERSON GAME! I hate first person games, and I was very disappointed when I discovered that this was a first person. Bad graphics, No horror, But ok, they are a new Game studio and I don't want to harm their trial. So I will give them a 5. I played all the game because I bought it. I would give it more, but the need to shot the enemies to the heart or reload because of lack of ammo turned annoying. Story wise, atmosphere wise and puzzle wise it was great. Still.. if the studio products something new, I will give it a try.

Phobia: St. Dinfna Hotel is an indie horror game that draws its inspiration from previous, successful horror titles of the past while also having some good ideas. Definitely not for everyone, but fans of horror games (see Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Outlast etc.) will appreciate it.

Fobia – St. Dinfna Hotel provides some pretty solid chills. It’s not the sort of game that will wow you unless you’re already a fan of survival horror, but if you are a fan, it serves as a pretty solid reminder of the good things the genre has to offer.

A great horror that packs most of the experience into its clever puzzles.
