The game wouldn't bad if it weren't for that awful off-center camera. Character needs to be in the center of the screen.

Never had any issues playing this game. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones haha all jokes aside, the eions are fun, gripping story. Characters are cool skill tree excellent semi openworld wish it was more open but it felt like it had good flow. Battles are cool. Nice combo system. Overall 9.8 but it leaned to a 10 so that's what I gave it

Coming from a final fantasy vet and a person who didn’t like final fantasy 15 as much as I wanted to like it final fantasy is a breath of fresh air. I believe they are going in the right direction with the series. Although I do hope they come out with some turn base spin offs like final fantasy worlds.

Final fantasy franchise is always known for trying new things out and this time 16 comes with new surprises and a thrilling adventure. For fans of the series, this might be a decisive entry but i felt like the touch of the final fantasy is still here and feels even stronger. Just ask yourself what does Final fantasy even mean to you?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fantastic game and exactly what I’d expect from a Final Fantasy (my take anyways). The combat was really fun, launching enemies up with Torgol, giving the enemies a boot and precision dodges. The Eikon battles blew me out of the water and were quite beautiful that i’d even take some screenshots. The world building is amazing, side-quest are really involved and provide great additional lore to the game. I laughed and cried during this rollercoaster of a game. I gave this game a ten, as I had so much fun and have never been so emotional invested in a way this game made me :) Expand

Final Fantasy XVI is a fantastic entry, even if is different to previous entries.

The story is good, the characters are of course fantastic and Clive is a great protagonist, even up with Cloud IMO.

The combat is second to none and the boss battles are crazy and are on such an epic scale that my jaw is constantly hitting the floor, and I have played GOW Ragnarok!

As someone who only really found out about the series with Final Fantasy 15 but only got into by 7 Remake, I was genuinely excited to play this game and see what it had to offer and honestly for the most part, it not only met my expectations, it EXCEEDED them. This game is what happens when you hire writers from Game of Thrones, combat designers of Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, and someone who could create Attack on Titan and God of War set-pieces all combined to create an experience that I will never forget anytime soon. The first thing I can confidently say is that the game looks so beautiful, I couldn't believe my eyes on what I was looking at so much so that I actually didn't mind that the photo mode was pretty basic, you'll be looking in awe on just how beautiful this game is that you'll constantly want to stop for a quick second and take in the magnificent work of art the developers created. The combat is PHENOMENAL with how easy it is to get into and the spectacle you showcase on-screen is a genuine marvel to look at and it never fails to become engaging and never feels repetitive with how the combat expands further on throughout the game. I'm always a fan of Final Fantasy soundtracks and this game might just be better than even 7 Remake and 15 with how they drive the emotion and stakes so much further than they have any right too causing me to get excited for a fight or what happens next. The story and characters are absolutely extraordinary and kept me hooked onto my seat with how many stakes there were, the emotions it brings, and genuinely how relateable it is since this game never failed to make me want the best for the characters seeing what was going on in the world, the characters are nothing short of beautiful and complex and the performances given by the actors only elevate them to some of the best characters I've seen in a video game, the Active Time Lore is easily one of the most revolutionary features I've seen in a video game since it helps you keep track of the story progress and especially helpful if you don't have a lot of time to play games to give you a recap on the story so far if you haven't played in a long time. People say the side quests are awful since they're so simplistic fetch quests but that just makes me feel like they never tried them since this is only the case for 30% of the side quests, everything else is surprisingly good side quests to flesh out the side characters more. Now you may be thinking, "Didn't you hate Dead Space 3's side quests when they did the same thing?" True, but those side quests focused on a MAIN character and you can't skip them otherwise you'll have no idea why the second main character even exists whereas FF16's focuses on the side characters and the game already tells you why they're here so you only want to do their side quests because you want to learn more from these side characters. Finally, probably the game's biggest highlight: the Eikon battles. These battles are a masterclass in spectacle and it feels so immersive and cinematic watching them in action and the fact they get better as you go on just increases the replayibility, people might hate the overly generous QTE's but tbh, QTE's are kind've a thing of the past and failing them is more annoying than anything since it always felt like a cheap trick to get you to pay attention so I genuinely didn't mind the generous QTE's. Now as much as I genuinely love this game, this game does have some problems to the point where I can't call it a masterpiece. For starters, some of the main story quests feel like shoved side quests to relieve you of the insane battles but come on SE, did they really have to be this boring to the point where it breaks the pacing? I wouldn't say the performance is as bad as people say it is since during gameplay and cutscenes, it's a locked frame-rate so you aren't distracted by it but other times, you can ABSOLUTELY see the bad frame pacing and here's hoping they fix it eventually. Finally, it wasn't that hard on my first playthrough nor on my second, I get that the director wanted to make the game more accessible to more people, but at least have an option where we want to feel challenged. With all that being said, I still enjoyed my time with Final Fantasy 16 that I actually didn't mind doing another playthrough for the platinum trophy and this is a story I have no doubt will remain with me for years to come and if you can get through the pacing and frame-rate problems, you'll no doubt love this game. As it stands, Final Fantasy 16 is my GOTY and can't wait to see the franchise move forward and also, PLEASE MAKE SOME DLC FOR SOME OF THE CHARACTERS SQUARE ENIX. Expand

I've only played a handful, and even then, besides the two games previously mentioned, I can't say that they've really "changed" me. XVI broke me. This game was everything I could've hoped for and more, and it leaves an unbearable emptiness in my heart now that it's all over. Of course, I will keep playing this game for a while. It's just that, my first experience, was so unlike anything I've ever felt playing a game before. It's unreal. This game has changed my life, and I'm really glad to have been able to play it. A 10/10 score doesn't do this masterpiece justice. Expand

Surely I know this is something far away from the Final Fantasy I have been used to. And surely I really could not care less. I could stay here talking about how it’s not like its predecessor, that it lacks this this and this… but really, is it supposed to be like that? I’d rather look at the great work the developers have done. At how passionately they must have worked to try to make this game. At how they’ve tried to channel emotions through it, and not disrespected the game saga and its fans (many would probably disagree with this last statement, but do try to read between the lines).

A game is meant to be felt, and I am feeling this game. The story it’s trying to tell me, the beautifully looking world and satisfying gameplay (that, yes, couldn’t be further away from what a Final Fantasy gameplay used to look like), the wonderfully orchestrated music, that I could listen to a hundred of times and STILL not get sick of it, still making me feel goosebumps all over my body.

Does it deserve the perfect vote? Probably not, although in my heart yes, it does. Does it even deserve hate? No, it doesn’t. 9/10 is my vote, but just like the people who hated on it did, I’m gonna bump it up a lil, just because I’m feeling like it. That’s what anyone does anyways, right?

Though slightly lacking in some rpg elements. The fighting, though easy enough is a lot of fun and the challenge really come from making the fights look great with ever evolving combos and moves and skill. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I'm just after gaining Shiva Eikon powers, before final showdown with Odin and I have to say that.... it was the most boring Final Fantasy in my career. I'm fresh after finishing FF6 and repeating 9. My God... so many things went wrong in this one. Plot was great until Cid's death, then suddenly game lost all its pacing. Dozens of completly random side quests (talk to 1st person, talk to 2nd person, kill something, bring item to 1st person). And there is more and more of those between almost every bigger main mission. Even main mission are all like: run through corridors, valleys, kill every group, 2 mini bosses and main boss. Rinse and repeat. Characters are boring. Jill is there just to be a meatshield and show Shiva from time to time, Clive is so cliché with his "I have to save the world and let people choose their lives". Boss Eikon fights are really good, so is the graphics. Fighting itself is .... meh.... I would rather prefer what they did in 7 remake. As there is absolutely nothing left of rpg tactical thing. FF16 is just Devil May Cry, so if you like action hack and slash mashers you will probably like the game. I'm not even sure if I will have enough will to finish the game. And that's really bad if you have to make yourself finish something that should be fun. Plus for graphics, eikon fights and powers, moogle and first half of the plot. Expand

The only negative I would say is that the exploration isn’t really here to provide a meaningful gaming experience it only serves to get from point A to B and places to hold hunts/side quests. That said the series has never had a strong exploration aspect, and I go look for that in other games where exploration is the main aspect of the experience.

I never play once game wishing it could fulfill all aspects of gaming and no one should either. You are just setting yourself up for disappointment and will be unable to enjoy anything.

Great combat and a great soundtrack, eikon battles are massive and epic.
you can do a lot of combinations thanks to the eikon mechanics you can also equip other eikon abilities to a specific eikon, the hunt system and the exploration is great, lots of open areas to explore and of course, the story is great, amazing at it's core!

A game that revels in the spectacle of the Eikon battles. Combat is enjoyable and flexible, rewarding those willing to figure out different combinations of powers. Combined with compelling and likable cast, and an almost legendary soundtrack and voice acting performance, this is easily one of the best Final Fantasy games.

Story is Final Fantasy alright, at one point you feel like you know where it's going but then yeah... it was good.

Graphics: absolutely stunning, really pushing PS5 to its limits and I'm sure could be even better once the PC release gets out.

The soundtrack, voice acting and cinematography is some of the best in gaming to date. The music is banger throughout and is masterfully arranged and synced to fit each scene. The darker setting and more mature themes complimented the atmosphere and depth of the world without feeling forced.

The characters had personality and seemed to have real motivations and values with quality voice acting and animation really bringing them alive

The difficulty with the initially available options felt slightly too easy, but then you can always play for example without using potions if you want more of a challenge right away.

Sure, many of the side quests were simple fetch/kill quests, but they also contributed to the world building and atmosphere and eventually tied together nicely with the overall plot of the game.

There are some flaws like in any game and the genre/style isn't for everyone, but for me the highest of highs in this game were so far beyond anything I've experienced in years that I can overlook some of the flaws and the overall experience was worth 10/10.

I think this game is great. It sort of differs from the other Final Fantasy's in that it's a more mature story, and it can get really dark. I'm really liking this, and I hope we get to see more adult-oriented FF's in the future.

I'm glad they didn't make the gameplay here a carbon copy from another FF. People crying about not having a party system... I can't roll my eyes hard enough at

I'm glad they didn't make the gameplay here a carbon copy from another FF. People crying about not having a party system... I can't roll my eyes hard enough at that. Feels like they want every FF game to be the exact same with no innovation.

Also, I feel like a lot of the reviews haven't played a FF game before. I'm not really bothered by the cutscenes because it's a franchise known for their stories, and it really provides a cinematic experience. I mean, I'm coming from FF14, a game that Yoshi-P also directed, so I'm used to the abundant cutscenes. But in this game, it really looks amazing.

My only real gripe is that they really should have just added difficulty levels instead of one base difficulty that you can scale down with accessories. They gave us an amazing combat system, but the enemies feel a little too easy. I would have liked something more hardcore; I'm hoping NG+ is the answer to that, we will see.

So, all in all, I would give it more like an 8.5/10. It's still a good game and worth every penny. I'm not even taking the review bombers serious, they're just babies throwing a tantrum. Game is nowhere near deserving of such low reviews.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Final Fantasy 16 has completely fulfilled my expectations. The story is captivating and, despite clear Game of Thrones parallels, still deviates well from G.R.R. Martin's influence towards the end of the story. The Eikon fights offer a good change within the gameplay, although the fight against Kupka was much too long. Especially the fight against the final boss was absolutely brilliantly staged.
The side missions increase in value as the story progresses and are no longer quite as trivial as they were at the beginning. Important: Play the many side missions before the end of the game. They hide a lot of information about the lives of the individual characters, and you'll learn to love them even more.
If you like DMC5 and Final Fantasy, you will absolutely get your money's worth and love the game. The Final Fantasy mode in NG+ massively increases the replay value.
    IMHO: Simply a perfect game!

I do find it to be quite a shame so many people are throwing zero's at this game whilst a solid half of them have likely not even played it. It seems that most of the reviews that are negative tend to bash sony/claim its bad with no reason/ and many just outright exclaim in their review they haven't even played the game.

For those reading this that are confused. I would normally give this game a 9 or 8 at the very lowest. But I do not want people scared away from this game due to a hatemob of those who have not even played it. Reviews of zero I can't even take seriously yet there are tons of them on here.

Play the game for yourself, or at the very least try the demo before deciding. Watch a critic that you like. But don't go off of these skewed averages as they are not at all indicative of the actually quality.

    - Action combat system is too shallow compared to contemporaries and without a meaningful RPG system the gameplay feels watered down compared to older FF entries

Boss fights are good, story is mostly interesting, everything in between put me to sleep. Combat is just "use abilities and hit square while they're on cooldown" which would be fine if 30 hours of pointless wandering was taken out of the game

As a huge Final Fantasy fan, with FF7 always being the best, I also think FF16 is a great game.

Only have 20 hours into the game, but it's a good story and entertaining game mechanics.

If there is something to complain about, it is the performance mode, which has big dips. And that it is not possible to turn off motion blur.
It's still clearly playable, but therefore not 10/10 either.

After the 100th time of walking down the same hallway to deliver yet another item, I checked out. My prediction is that is game will age poorly due to how superficial it is. I wish there was more depth of strategy and customization found in other RPGs, or even a robust combo system like you would see in DmC.

It's missing a lot of what one might expect of an FF game, but that's not really its biggest flaw. It just retreads ideas from FFXIV way too closely and fails to wrap up the narrative in an interesting way. Didn't feel worth my time or money in the end.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where to even begin.. I'm halfway through the game and so far I think the story is great and the soundtrack is amazing. I like the dark tone and the sense of war and deceit being around the corner all the time. I think the characters are good and I find myself laughing from time to time even though the game really has a dark story. The game in itself is beautiful to, the stroke of the wind on grasssy parts just looks amazing and satisfying. The enemies also have great designs.

    But....

That's it for the good stuff. And I actually find myself pretty disappointed. For starters, the battle system just lacks inspiration, you just do the same stuff all the time and there is no strategy behind it. You can attack fire type enemies with fire and still do a lot of damage. There is no status ailments. If you die during during a boss fight you get to start in the middle of the fight with replenished items.

The weapons are boring, they just add a stronger attack and nothing else when you get a new one. There is no funny items that do funny stuff (FFX and FFXII had plenty).

You get to battle the same kind of enemies all the time, I think there is like 10 different type of enemies and the rest is just different variation of the same kind of enemy.

The hunts are easy, I could easily kill a rank A monster even though I was 8 levels lower than the actual monster. There is no puzzles or any form av exploring. Up until FFXIII the games wasn't open world and still had exploring to do.

WHY is there no chocobo theme? Like WTF!?

I will finish the game, and probably enjoy the story. But I feel SE really losing their touch. To not be able to plan a good strategy for enemies or not being able to explore is just so so sad. They keep saying they need to modernize, and that's fine, but don't remove key aspects because of it. This game would be awesome with a battle system that improved from FFXII, that was fast paced but still needed strategy.

    Shame.. Square

The system with switching the dogs and potions needs better indicators as to which you're on. I have wasted many potions thinking I was giving a command to torgal the dog. The other is that you can't play as or level up other characters that join your party. Using different characters fighting styles is one of the best parts about RPGs like final fantasy! I have finally crawled out of the hole I spent the last 4 days to write a review. Please bear with me as I ramble on here, because I don't actually know what I'm going to say yet.

    Where to even begin?

For the past 4 days I've been glued to the screen for 12+ hours each day, absolutely gripped by what we have got here. Wearing my bias on my sleeve, the only other FF game I played before this was Crisis Core and XIV. The rest I couldn't give a toss about. I played this game not because it's Final Fantasy, but because of the people who mad it. Heck, I got a PS5 because of the people who made this game.

In one short sentence; Worth it. Not disappointed.

For those that don't know CBU3 (Creative Business Unit 3) was responsible for the revitalisation of Final Fantasy 14 after its initial failed launch and its subsequent development since. Helmed by their director and producer Naoki Yoshida, the MMO has been going from strength to strength, which is a rare occurrence in the genre.

So when I heard that the next mainline FF game was going to have the same team attached to it, I knew it was going to be a great time. Just wasn't quite ready for how great of a time it will be.

Let's get something straight right out of the gate; Combat, gameplay loop and systems a Final Fantasy game does not make. Story does; and the story we have on hand here is most definitely 'Final Fantasy'. That means a great world, loads of character drama intertwined with the current geopolitical state of the world as we observe these larger-than-life tragedies through the characters they affect, rather than from a bird's eye view. We see and feel the personal stakes each character (protagonist, antagonist or otherwise) has wrapped up in the days' problems.

Combat is great and yes, it is FINALLY full and fully action combat. None of this weird, locking you into an attack animation once you press a button so it's not turn-based but actually it's turn based thing FF7R did.

Although playing in Graphics mode, being locked to 30fps, definitely introduces some input delay which can make or break some of the tougher encounters when it comes down to the wire, though it's nothing you can't get used to over the course of the game's runtime. Eikon abilities I'm happy to say are varied and combining them allows for countless different playstyles. Personally I prefer to endure a foe with precision dodges while whittling down their 'Will Guage' so they open up with a Stagger, which is when I unleash my big hitting, single target abilities while Limit Breaking or 'Priming', as Clive enters a Semi-Eikon status. Which is an approach just as viable as any other build. There is definitely a freedom of choice on mixing and matching abilities and builds are only as viable as the player's skilled at using them.

    Soken music.

Now at this point you might be thinking 'well but Yoake why did you give the game an 8? you've been singing its praises'

It's locked behind the purchase of a magical box from the wizard Sony.
The motion blur is still very noticeable even 40 hours in. We need to be able to turn it off, period. That alone is probably worth a full new playthrough as the scenery is extremely smeared anytime you aren't standing still. Not a problem during combat, as things move fast, but just for exploration and moving around, it needs to go.
Some pacing issues in the story that I understand, but still find jarring.

    All in all, this game is a masterpiece that will define the PS5 as a console. It is a must own and a must play. I eagerly look forward to CBU3's next entry into the line of Singleplayer FF games. Also while I have your attention;

I'm new to the Final Fantasy series, and this game was fun in some parts. I liked the combat and story okay, but I felt like it could be better. I'd hate it if my favorite series changed that much. I guess 15(?) is kind of like this one, faster and stuff, but from the videos I saw, 16 definitely doesn't match the others. Keep that in mind if you want to give this series (and this game) a chance. Expand

Solo protagonist, action hack-and-slash, very few actual RPG elements, a lackluster world system, shallow characters with very little development, middling story arcs, mediocre exploration and crap loot, an unresolved ending... These would be fine if it was trying to be its own thing. But it's trying to be a FINAL FANTASY game. Tack on the awful performance with obscene motion blur in quality mode and severe frame drops and stuttering in performance mode and it just isn't worthy of all the 8s, 9s, and 10s it's getting. I struggle to give it a 7. It's honestly closer to a 6.

Slightly better than FF15, but that's not exactly a high bar to clear.
Not at all interested in replaying this game.

    Presentation is great.
Gameplay is really good, just took a while to get new stuff.
it is a final fantasy after all, what i mean is, the boss fights, the over the top action and epicness with a great soundtrack (but definetly not as good as the great ones).

So, what can i say...it often is very slow, awkward, i watch anime and play jrpgs, but in ff16 there is a lot of cringe going on.
In the end, great game, but 0 RPG, action-adventure, with technical issues, which makes it a 7 not an 8.

Pacing is garbage, you'll get cool scenes and plot rolling then you're suddenly set to go do MMO fetch quests for the next 2-3 hours
    Non-bosses are literally nothing
Clive somehow manages to be super passive despite spending the first part of the game on a revenge quest. Even later he's just kind of swept along
Side quests suck, I've found 4(?) well written ones. The rest are throw away and rewards suck. Post timeskip you start getting 'renown' for them which is a promise that maybe someday you'll get a good reward if you do enough
Crafting sucks, all items are super boring and thats all you find with explorign
As mentioned above, exploration, even for more linear structured areas, is non-existeint
Characters that are interesting like Benedickta don't get enough screentime
Characters that DO get screentime like Jill are nothing characters

It would be a 9 if it were technically better and a little more variety in the fights. I would have preferred a system like the one in the FF7 remake or that Jill is more involved in the fight and that you can switch between the two and combine the attacks.

Unfortunately, the game is also another step away from FF.
Even then I hated that they called their FF MMO FF11. Even that had nothing to do with FF except for some elements that keep coming back. FF series is a pure single player series.
It was a big mistake not to call it FF Online or something like that back then. Just like other FF spinoff series.
The same with FF14. FF 15 and especially FF16 do not have the problem that it is a pure single player game, but that it is too much single player.
The parties themselves are not important and you cannot control them. (FF15 had it patched but still not the real one)
In short, FF should be an RPG or JRPG where you have a party and you go on adventures with that party and ultimately save the world.

FF16 has the problem that you don't have a party and RPG elements are almost non-existent.
Every Souls game except Sekiro has more RPG elements, which is just wrong when such a series has more RPG elements than FF.
FF stands for the fact that JRPG became big and well-known in the west. Now you have a good game, I would say, even if it unfortunately has some bugs, which has almost nothing to do with JRPG.
It would have done so much better for the title to be released as an FF spinoff. Just like back then with FF15.
But then they would probably sell fewer units because the title FF16 alone attracts more customers than an FF Game of Crystal or whatever it could have been called.
It's a shame that SE doesn't really want anything to do with JRPGs anymore. At least not with a big budget and want to develop names like FF.
FF is the only name that would still be able to bring turn-based JRPGs to the masses.
I would have wished that they would take up this again and revive and further develop the turn-based JRPGs, that the genre would not die out and was only developed for low budgets.
The games these days all suffer from the fact that they are becoming more and more the same anyway.

As already mentioned, there are some problems.
The performance could be better. especially the 60 fps mode is not good. You should turn off the ray tracing so that the FPS is at least halfway close to 60, away from the fights.
Especially since you don't notice anything from ray tracing.
Gives option to have it off or on.
    Just like with motion blur.
It's a real shame that you can't control your combat companions. Apart from the dog, which is also rather annoying in the long run.
Why not something like in FF12, where you set the companions in advance in a menu, how they should react in fights and when and how to heal etc.
So they do almost nothing but stand around. Particularly weak from Jill, who is Shiva, she should be able to wipe the floor with just about everyone.
But I play it through quite clearly. As I said, it's not a bad game, but it has too little to do with FF to call it FF16, a mainstay of the series.
German synchro is unfortunately partly not good but that was already the case with FF15. The important speakers at least have good synchro. NPCs is unfortunately cringe and you can tell that you didn't put a lot of money and time into it.
But you can fix it if you play it in English or even better in Japanese.
I'm glad to get a German synchro at all. Many don't do that anymore.
The combat system is ok but not nearly as good as DMC. It's a mixture of KH and DMC, which is logical. It's partly too simple or simplified compared to DMC and KH, but I think that did the game good. Otherwise there would be too much frustration. The game is not designed or made to have precise inputs like DMC. Especially since the camera is too close to have an overview of the battlefield and always know exactly where each enemy is and when he is attacking you.

Some boss fights were a bit annoying. Doesn't like fighting the big bosses that much if you're not fighting as an ifrit yourself. Doesn't feel as fast and good as DMC. But I am satisfied with it and a gigantic step forward compared to FF15. Tried replaying FF15 before starting FF16. This was not possible. In my opinion, FF15's combat system has aged very badly and is no longer really playable for me. FF16 does really well in comparison and is a dream. But that brings me back to my main criticism, did FF have to become more of a DMC and KH? Why didn't you move away from FF15 and go back to the roots? Luckily we didn't get a stamina bar. Hope we never get a Souls FF. If so, please only as a spinoff ser

It does not add anything to the gameplay.
What I don't forgive is the lack of elemental weaknesses, and the lack of a proper magic system, including status effects and spells. These would have made the game a little bit more challenging and smart.
I also find that the world setting is bland and some areas are too generic, on top of that all of them don't feel to be alive.

Their main objective was to have a game functional to tell a story as easy as possible.
Ultimately, with this formula I would have preferred a shorter game, since the low complexity of the gameplay is nowhere engaging for 50+ hours.

If you just want a story then I think you'll enjoy it, but I prefer games that tell a story - not stories that occasionally let you run the main character from place to place. Skill Up claimed the game was 75% cutscenes, and while I think that's a slight exaggeration, it's not that far off. And much of the "action" is moving from one place to another, battling minor groups of enemies who pose no threat.

The enemies are redundant and far too easy. You can make it more interesting by mixing up your style and rotating different kinds of attacks, but aside from bosses and "cinematic mode button selection" I honestly think I could beat the game just using the basic attack over and over.

Others may find these non-issues, and if you enjoy the game by all means have at it. I rather wish I could get my money back.

Everything that’s wrong, No controllable characters the fact that you have party members that you can’t control at all just seems unnecessary the game is not even difficult so why even have uncontrollable characters in your party and torgle is a cheap excuse for a party memeber. The progression and customization is non existent. There is no depth. You literally just show up to the shop after every big battle and buy a new sword that’s a bit stronger than the other. No satisfaction from that. The explorable area seems useless nothing good to find and I found myself picking up 2 Gil way too often like it feels items where just placed there to just say they had items no thought out into it. When you defeat a boss the screen stops and you get taken out of the moment to sip through your exp and items and it just feels awkward especially for an action game. The cinematic scenes in the boss battles are pointless. The side quests feels like you’re playing an mmo. Overall this should have been a side entry into the series I would have been okay with that but this is not a mainline final fantasy game.
