    I don't often give 10's, but in my opinion this game is a masterpiece... I love everything about it, the Characters, the music score (which is phenominal), the story and the gameplay and enjoyable and satisfying combat system are all excellent here. It's rare that a game grabs me like this one has, and i find myselg wanting to keep coming back to it. I hope they make a sequel set in this universe.

    it's not perfect, could use more Rpg elements & exploration.., but the action, story, characters, pacing and whole feeling is something truly special.., only few games like TLOU1/2 have achieved in the past years of narrative driving action-adventures such hights

    I put around 100 hours into the game before beating it. I cried like a **** when it was all over. I have been a Final Fantasy fan for a very long time. While each entry has it's own pros and cons, there isn't anything quite like Final Fantasy as a whole. If you're someone who likes to skip through story, please don't buy this game because you'd only be doing yourself a disservice.I put around 100 hours into the game before beating it.     Loved the graphics, the story is interesting, love the characters, too many cutscenes but love the combat wish there was block button though. I rather play this than legend of Zelda even though im a Nintendo fan I couldn't get into that game because its too big and overwhelming things to do get side tracked to the main plot its overrated.     Ff16 is a masterpiece of a game, the combat is spot on! The wait was worth it, now I will say that I look forward to seeing a update to fix the frame rates.

    Easily the best Final Fantasy in a long while. The game really shines during the huge boss battles. I haven't seen gameplay and scope this impressive since God of War 3. The story, visuals, gameplay and music are all beyond anything seen this gen. The game really is impressive.

    The game is top-notch! The graphics are perfect, the gameplay smart and engaging, the sounds to the point, music score brilliant. Eikon fights are EPIC, look and feel perfect. It used to be that you may trust user reviews more than critic reviews, but those days are in the past.

    This game is astounding, and really has the soul of Final Fantasy in it. The story is riveting and complicated (especially if you like diving deep into lore and the nuances of different nations and characters, their relationship to the story and to each other). The music is phenomenal as well, thanks to Mashayoshi Soken (the composer of the fantastic score of Final Fintasy XIV). He evenThis game is astounding, and really has the soul of Final Fantasy in it. The story is riveting and complicated (especially if you like diving deep into lore and the nuances of different nations and characters, their relationship to the story and to each other). The music is phenomenal as well, thanks to Mashayoshi Soken (the composer of the fantastic score of Final Fintasy XIV). He even wrote the music while in the hospital battling cancer! the visuals are, of course, top tier, and as usual Final Fantasy is looked at to set the bar of what's possible in gaming currently, and what the current gen systems are capable of.

    This is really one of my favorite Final Fantasy games of all time. It differs from other FF games in that it's far more action-oriented, swapping heavy stats and customizable weapons and armor for a more streamline crafting system that gives you choices but doesn't interfere too much in your performance and progression. You only control Clive, the main character, and give commands to his trusty hound, but get guest party members at different times through the story. The locales and regions you visit throughout the game are a combination of fairly large open areas to explore and story-driven corridors (not NEARLY as bad at Final Fantasy 13). Plot progression is clearly the name of the game and the driving force behind the team's decision to guide you through some simplified dungeons which lead you through room-to-room battles. Though it may seem disappointing that some area's are fairly simple in their design, the story at the end and the battles to get there definitely make up for it.

    As far as performance, I'm playing in graphics (fidelity) mode. There's a performance mode that target's 60fps, but it's far more variable and you can tell it bounces around in framerate depending on what's going on. Graphics mode is far more stable at 30fps, looks sharper and cleaner, and "shows off" the game a little more.

    My only gripe are the side quests, in how they seem to REALLY stand out in comparison to the story. All RPG's have side quests, be it fetch quests or "kill this monster and save my village", but after defeating a huge, towering God and seeing what Clive can do as he battles these massive Eikons (summons), it's a bit jarring whenyou return from one of those huge fights with ground-breaking implications on the story and have to pick up soil for a gardner who wants to grow fruit, or collect limestone to help someone make a knife. The developers try so hard to make Clive feel like a badass, and in battles and especially in the Eikon fights they succeed, but those simple quests right afterwards really put a leash on him.

    Overall, I HIGHLY recommend the game, for first-timers and old Final Fantasy veterans alike. Turn up the sound, enjoy the amazing sound effects and high-impact bass thuds of those epic fights with top-tier orchestrated music, and get lost in the world of Valisthea.    … Expand

    I little background. I am an old school FF player. I started with FF1 on the original NES and my favorite Final Fantasy game is Final Fantasy 6(3). I haven’t enjoyed a single player Final Fantasy since 12. Now the review.

    I have played almost every Final Fantasy games since 1990. I enjoy how every FF game is unique and its own story. You don’t have to play any of the past games to enjoy the latest in the series. This one does a great job with combat, world building, and story. Great game and outstanding edition to this legendary series.

    As someone who’s been playing FF games since the first one came out on NES in the West, I can easily say that I love this game. While it IS a complete departure from the older games I find the combat addictive and fun. The characters and story are the main reason for my 10 score. I haven’t been this engaged in a game since Red Dead Redemption 2.

    But as far as enjoyment goes, Final Fantasy XVI is one of the most enjoyable Final Fantasy game I've ever played in the last 10 or more years.

I have been playing since FFVI on SNES and this game is capturing the beauty of the final fantasy storytelling in an interactive and powerful way. Being able to see the unique swords chosen throughout the game is a small but appreciated feature. WhileThis game has classic and modern all smashed in one to create a stunning cinematic story could with intense and jaw dropping battle scenes. I have been playing since FFVI on SNES and this game is capturing the beauty of the final fantasy storytelling in an interactive and powerful way. Being able to see the unique swords chosen throughout the game is a small but appreciated feature. While the main story is linear, it is truly a story worth hearing. Side quests are actually interesting and make things slightly less linear but again, I am not worried about it delivering a fantastical story.

    Incredible game. You can tell the team put a lot of heart into making it. I find the action gameplay addicting and rewarding. I find the graphics really beautiful. I LOVE the story, writing, and dialogue. I have no negative things to say about this game. I just love it too much.

    This is such a brilliant game! Seriously, the story made me CRY like a baby but also made had some smiles and scream of excitment! The boss battles are among the best EVER in EVERY media, games, movies, comics, you name it, FFXVI has some moments that are EPIC beyond words! The combat is great, the graphics are MESMERIZING! Seriously, best ive ever played and i finished every single one since VI!

    Just don’t use the preorder bonuses or accessibility items if you don’t need them. they clearly trivialize the game which is quite challenging and literally unbeatable unless played correctly.

Los giros argumentales están muy bien hilados, los diálogos son interesantes y los NPC siempre tienen algo que contarnos, gráficamente es precioso, los mapas tienen unos detalles sin precedentes, los efectos están muy bien logrados y la iluminación...eso requeriría mas de 10000Jugadas mas de 20 hrs al juego desde el lanzamiento, me he encontrado con un titulo maduro, divertido y épico. Los giros argumentales están muy bien hilados, los diálogos son interesantes y los NPC siempre tienen algo que contarnos, gráficamente es precioso, los mapas tienen unos detalles sin precedentes, los efectos están muy bien logrados y la iluminación...eso requeriría mas de 10000 caracteres para describir lo bien que acompaña al juego. Los personajes están escritos con mucho peso y personalidad.

Doing epic juggle combos with Torgal and swapping through 3 weapon types feels great. - The boss battles both normal and Kaiju feel epic and have great pacing. I have never seen such an aggressive way of killing a ninja but it sure as hell felt cool to see and portrayed a different way of ending a fight on a boss than ever before.
    - Music is perfection and properly catches the tonal vibes every single time.

    Genuine cons, but not enough to bring down the score
    Lack of post-story content. It's certainly a finished product with NG+ potentially being the extra content to do. Post game boils down to simiulated score attack and Hunts if not completed.    … Expand

The battle system in the predecessor (FF 15) wasn't that great to be honest, but in FF 16 they hired the right people and did a really, really good job.     Although it's very different compared to the previous titles, it definitely feels like a Final Fantasy game and is a good example of how a game can evolve and change up important elements in a way that doesn't lead to total alienation.

    Mostly due to all the attention to detail (great story explanation, stunning visuals, immersive world, superb voice acting) it deserves the full score of 10/10. There are minor things I'd wish were different (e.g. using Ambrosia feels a little clunky), but they are mostly subjective and don't have a negative effect on the overall score.

    FFXVI is not without issues, but dang is it fun. It would be better with a motion blur toggle and some performance fixes, but everything else is fantastic. If you like action RPGs this is a must buy.

    I played the first Final Fantasy games when they came out. When they stopped getting released on Nintendo consoles I had no access to them. Have played the newer ones on Playstation and I have to say that this one is the best of the newer games (after FF10). The music, the graphics, the story, the cadence... everything about this game is Final Fantasy. Very polished and enjoyable. ThereI played the first Final Fantasy games when they came out. When they stopped getting released on Nintendo consoles I had no access to them. Have played the newer ones on Playstation and I have to say that this one is the best of the newer games (after FF10). The music, the graphics, the story, the cadence... everything about this game is Final Fantasy. Very polished and enjoyable. There are lots of cut scenes, which I normally don't like, but they outdid themselves on these and I actually watched them.… Expand

    Way under-rated. I think people are just really turned off with the pure action combat. Would I have liked it being turn based instead? Absolutely! But still an amazing game if you dont compare it to other Final Fantasy games.

Well nope FF16 is really breathtaking. Its not like D4 or the other games arent great. But compared to FF16? Damn, this is spectacular. I love it. I lost hope in this series and boy im glad I was this wrong. Only 10,I mean...just wow! This is such a surprise! I havent been waiting for this. I werent aware it is being made.     This is probably the greatest Final Fantasy game I've played since the FF6 through FF10 block of games and I think deserves a place in the Top 4 of all Final Fantasy titles. Great narrative, memorable protagonists and villains, iconic boss battles that will blow your mind, incredible OST, and a fun new gameplay system that surprisingly works. Required playing for any RPG fan.

    I haven't cared for the Final Fantasy series for many years, but Final Fantasy XVI trailers piqued my interest. Needless to say I am not disappointed after playing, as this is by far one of the best Final Fantasy games ever made. I love the combat, the story, the characters just everything. The game is so good and I can't stop playing. Thank you for giving us this masterpiece, Square Enix! :)

    I love absolutely everything about this masterpiece. I love the characters, gameplay, writing - literally everything is just wonderfully designed. You can really feel how much love and polish went into this production. Final Fantasy 16 is not only my GOTY, but the best game I have played in years. That all said, can we gave some DLC Square Enix? Or better yet, how about a sequel? :)

Para los sibaritas de Final Fantasy este juego puede parecer algo simple al no luchar tan tácticamente como en anteriores juegos de la saga (usar escudos, hechizos que te protejan o curen del veneno, hielo, etc). Que se note las ventajas y desventajas de usar X elemento en las magias tanto tu personaje como los aliados y enemigos. 3. Muy simple en contenido RPG (falta más variedad de armas, equipos, algunos trajes para vestir a nuestro protagonista y que ojalá tuviesen una habilidad también, etc). 4. La historia tiene algunos bajones puntuales. 5. El juego a pesar que tiene partes que impactan visualmente hablando, tiene también lugares que técnicamente son discretos sin llegar a impresionar.

    Estamos ante un excelente juego. Animo tanto a los fans y gente que nunca ha probado un Final Fantasy ha jugarlo. No lo recomiendo para esa gente que odia los juegos con mucha narrativa y lore. Gente que busca diversión instantánea sin diálogos, sin cinemáticas, sin una buena historia. Aquellos que prefieren algo simple y directo. Final Fantasy no es para ustedes.     No matter which game wins GoTY, this game is the true GoTY. It's not perfect. It has faults. But TotK has even more glaring faults, which for some reason get overlooked(Such as the same bad performance this game is getting dinged for, recycling the same exact map to use again in its world, and the combat being extremely shallow which again, is somehow overlooked in TotK but this game is getting dinged for its combat). If reviewers were truly being objective, I feel like this game would be a 9.5 and TotK a 9.0, but apparently it doesn't work that way. With that out of the way, let me get to the pros and cons.

    -The boss battles. Holy #%#^ the boss battles. I don't think I've ever had such an exhilarating experience in a videogame in all the years I've played them.
    -The sound quality is the best you will ever find. The music is god tier. The sound effects all fit and the voice actors are great. Clive's voice actor is next level phenomenal.
    -The graphics are top-notch.
    -The characters are well done. You can truly feel how broken Clive is and the struggles that he has to surmount in his journey.
    -The world and lore is well crafted. Not for the faint of heart, it shows the cost of war and the grim reality of the human condition.
    -The combat is extremely fun to play. Do not listen to those who say you just 'mash one button'. In order for that to be true, they would've had to equip the accessibility items that basically play the game for them. Those items were created for people who only want to see the narrative and not have any sort of depth to their combat. If you were truly just mashing the attack button, you would do hardly any damage and die. What you're more likely to experience in combat is hitting square to attack, then dodging attacks(R1 button) or parrying as necessary countering right after. Your special attacks(R2+square, R2+triangle, R2+circle) play a huge role. These special attacks can be cycled by eikonic element to have different effects on the bosses. You also have your limit break which can be used by pressing L3+R3 that is on its own separate chargeup meter. One button combat? Stop being disingenuous.

    Now we get to the cons. I cannot rate these as positive things, but they did little to detract from my gameplay experience. However, this may affect some people more than others.

    Cons
    -The framerate issue is well known at this point. It is not a consistent 60 fps.
    -The linearity of the game can be a negative for those who wish to have a complete open world at their fingertips.
    -Playing only as Clive is a minor negative from me. I preferred to be able to play different members of my party.
    -The loot is simplistic and shallow.
    -The combat is indeed too easy, at least in the first playthrough of the story. It would have been nice if a harder difficulty was available from the get go.

    It's a true tragedy that this game is getting lower scores than it deserves because of stupid reasons like SJW agendas and bot attacks. True and objective game reviews are dead.    … Expand

But so is FFX and everyone loved that one. A game doesn't need to be open world to be good. However, the best part of this game is the story. It's intriguing and makes me care. Look, if the thing that makes a final fantasy for you is not the plot, or the characters, or the writing, or anything else but its the fact it has turn based combat and thats all that matters then this is not the final fantasy for you. But if the thing thats most important for you is the story, The characters, the world, the themes, then this is the most "final fantasy" the series has been since the ps2 era. Any and all of the negative reviews ate gonna tell you the fact its action instead of turn based and the fact that *some* of the sidequests aren't quite at the quality of most witcher 3 sidequests mean its bad and I'm here to tell you those people don't understand what this franchise was always trying to be. Its good action combat if thats you're thing but if like me the gameplay was never the main draw of Final Fantasy and it was the plot, the characters, the themes of hope and friendship that drew you in, then this is the best single player final fantasy since the golden age and you owe it to yourself to give it a chance!… Expand

    Final Fantasy XVI is an excellent game in every way. If you're a fan of the series for the stories and characters, you won't go wrong here, and if you've avoided the series for, say, turn-based combat, the sixteenth installment offers the perfect opportunity to get started with this legend of the gaming industry.     This is a solid RPG/action game. Some elements of the game are unusual and fresh for single-player parts of the Final Fantasy series, but some are too dull and rudimentary.

    New numbered FFs are good again. Stunning to look at, with new, punchy combat, and a great yarn, it is, if anything, too focussed, lacking a bit of the weird. [Issue#30, p.78]
