    Where do I begin? This game has gripped me in its entirety ever since I've played the demo. Being a lifelong final fantasy fan, it's an understatement to say I've not been the most happy with the past few entries in the franchise. That's not to say 13 and 15 were bad, but they had issues that made it not fun for me to play. 16 on the otherhand, I found to be riveting in many fantasticWhere do I begin? That's not to say 13 and 15 were bad, but they had issues that made it not fun for me to play. 16 on the otherhand, I found to be riveting in many fantastic ways. The combat was intricate and kept evolving as I played further and further. It allowed for constant experimentation and changing up what could have been monotonous with the additions of more Eikon powers Clive unlocks: some are suited for dodging, some countering attacks, some blocks, some attacking from a distance.
    The plot was compelling and the performances of the actors carry the story through fantastically. One of the factors that stood out to me was that this script held english as a priority and the japanese dialogue was dubbed around it. As such, the dialogue beats lacked a lot of anime tropes that many FF games have had in the past. Some found it charming and a quirk in the franchise's favor, but you cannot deny this iteration's dialogue lacks an awkward pause in the middle of the sentence that is unfortunately due to limitations of dubbing another language's dialogue.    … Expand

    Stunning visually and emotionally. They're are a few valid criticisms/nitpicks such as no button for sprinting and a shallow gearing system but none that took away from my overall enjoyment of the game. One of the most memorable games I've ever played.

    While a departure from turn based to action i found XVI did not fail . The soundtrack is phenominal as well as story and the new battle system. While there is some small performance issues that will likely be patched they were not so bad that i felt they hurt the game. XVI is another solid game carrying the final fantasy name.

    Having played the game for over 25 hours, I will say the story and characters are really awesome. And the combat, especially the boss fights are really fun with the atmosphere and music and combat. I recommend manual combat without the auto combat accessories for the full experience. I would give it a 10, but there are a bit too many cutscenses, i think alot of the    No spoilers.

    I would give it a 10, but there are a bit too many cutscenses, i think alot of the non-significant cut scenes could have done on the move while actually traveling. (The story / action cut scenes are really really good - just the progression / storytelling ones weren't all neccessary I think)

    Also the crafting could have been done better - its too limited, wish we had more actual armor to equip and craft such as body armor and boots. FF16 is just belt, gloves, and 3 accessories. More equippable armor would have been more fun "loot" to obtain and craft and make you feel stronger.

    The early side quests aren't too great but they get better.

    Combat (No Auto Accessories) 10/10 - for boss fights
    Combat vs trash mobs / "elite" trash mobs gets repetitive and becomes a hinderance. Sorry, but keeping it real.

    The story, music, boss battles atmosphere (not neccessarily difficutly, just the scale of epicness and badassery) really bring this game up and I recommend it to anybody.    … Expand

    Trilha sonora simplesmente perfeita, tudo encaixa com o que está sendo mostrado na tela, as músicas encaixam perfeitamente nos combates dando um empolgação extra nas batalhas épicas de Eikons.

    Pontos fracos:
    Mágica elemental e status negativos inexistentes.
    Poucos elementos de RPG.
    Pouca variedade de inimigos.

    I gotta say I have a mixed feelings for this game, this game brought me into the PS5 community which I have been dreaming for atleast 3 years, and when the demo was released, I was so impressed by its gameplay and the story. But after I trying to play the New Game + mode, I found out that the story of the game and also the ability tree itself is actually not that good.     One of the best games I've ever played. Not perfect (FPS drops most impactful) but the good parts clearly outweigh the negative parts. A console generation defining game which I definitely recommend.

    The focus here is on the story and the big Aikon battles, which are phenomenally done. The story so far is one of the best games I've ever played, it's very dramatic and emotional, the production is just as good. The music by Soken is great. The combat system is well thought out and will not let you get bored until the end of the game.

    The game does not run as smoothly as you would expect for a new gen game, however, I didn't feel that took away any value when it came to the thrilling gameplay, great plot and AMAZING soundtrack.
    As a side note, if you are a fan of "epic" visuals and soundtrack, you will LOVE this game, no doubts.

    Debo decir que al menos en lo que tengo de experiencia en esta saga este ha sido el lore más construido que he visto en Final Fantasy, una reimaginacion, las invocaciones ahora son Eikons controlados por los Dominantes, es un giro de tuerca o reimaginacion a la saga en    Soy fanático de la saga, o de entregas específicas más bien, como lo son el 7 original, 8, X, XV, 7 Remake y ahora este.

Amazing art complimented by the breath-taking music that only Soken could write and a great (if not a bit FF-tropy) story that keeps you on the edge of your sit. It has been years since a game literally made me feel goosebumps like the combination of the music, art and story did at the game's first big reveal. Combat cannot be described as anything otherA masterpiece cinematc experience. Amazing art complimented by the breath-taking music that only Soken could write and a great (if not a bit FF-tropy) story that keeps you on the edge of your sit. It has been years since a game literally made me feel goosebumps like the combination of the music, art and story did at the game's first big reveal. Combat cannot be described as anything other than excellent too, just be warned that the game is as match of a movie as it is a hack-and-slash. If you are not into long cutscenes and scripted interactive spectacles (even if they are supported by amazing visuals, a complelling story and a breath-taking music) you may not be able to get full-value out of thi s game. But if you are, or if you are a fan of DmC-style combat even a bit, you owe it to yourself to play this game, yesterday.

    Not a perfect game, needs some improving in Level Design, Gear and Exploration. However all the “bad stuff” I found, were things that can easily be fixed through patches or future DLC. The strengths here greatly outshine every weakness. The story, worldbuilding, setting, character development and design, tone, art direction, boss battles, voice acting, HUDs, music and graphics. All theseNot a perfect game, needs some improving in Level Design, Gear and Exploration. However all the “bad stuff” I found, were things that can easily be fixed through patches or future DLC. The strengths here greatly outshine every weakness. The story, worldbuilding, setting, character development and design, tone, art direction, boss battles, voice acting, HUDs, music and graphics. All these are all full 10/10, with the boss battles and music peaking at 11/10. Combat could do with one more Eikon and one more ability for each Eikon, but aside these, it’s incredible good and deep. Boss battles are the peak here. Definitely the best action iteration they made so far with Final Fantasy, leagues above FFXV. 9/10 for the combat. Exceptionally good, I just want a few more abilities to make things even more varied. A great addition to this system would Eikonic load-outs, even better if switchable during fights but I understand that would make us too OP perhaps. I had no problem with the performance or motion blur to be fair. I have motion sickness, but it wasn’t too much once I got used to it. Would love an option to turn it off though for comparison. I played graphics mode but I barely realised I was in 30 fps during combat. It felt perhaps a bit noticeable only during exploration and cutscenes. No bugs for me. My ps5 never turned off. All smooth. Side-quests have two faces. While the outdated fetch-quest formula generally drags down the whole side-content experience, fortunately they at least provide incredible world-building, and some quests revealed to be full characters arc. These characters arc are only unlocked doing their quest-chain, and they all have surprisingly good cutscenes that are vital in order to fully appreciate the world, the game’s ending and all the characters. This approach to the side-quest made me feel like the world was truly alive, even after the last boss when I re-visited some places to finish some hunts, I felt like every place became sort of familiar, alive. Another nice details is how the places changes based on your action between the main story and side-quests. The main story tends to change all Valisthea, and you can notice everytime something important changes, the same happens with the weather or day/night cycle. Meanwhile completion of certain side-quest may drastically change an open zone. Example: what is a lost village full of bandits, upon doing the right quest-chain, may become again civilised and people may return to live there. And then some nice people will forever thank you. And if you don’t do those specific side-quests, it just remains like it was before. And you can go there everyday and kill some frenzy bandit. It feels very alive. The world reacts to your actions.

    I didn’t realise at all big cities very missing. Perhaps cause the main story dungeons are smartly designed, although they’re linear, they will make you feel inserted in a bigger location than what you will actually explore. You will in fact take a closer look to Capitals through those dungeons rather than it being an open-zones. I appreciated this approach, the game doesn’t necessarily make you feel like you need more open spaces or cities. Perhaps in a DLC. What could have been improved about this spaces is definitely what you could find in it. Exploration doesn’t feel rewarding if not for doing hunts and side-quests completion. A simple fix here would be very appreciated. In general though, addressing the side-quests again: they all have this very mmo fetch quest-formula, and there are also many. It can feel very dragging at times as it breaks the pacing of the game quite a lot. Especially Mid’s main quests (and this is a main quest) after the Crystalline Dominion events, were very out of place imo and it felt bad. That’s the only part of the game I genuinely didn’t like. Especially when I had to redo it in NG+. Why is it even a main quest? Many other side-quests were better than that. In general “quest formula” I’d say overall side-quests all considered, good and bad, are a 7/10 average. Some side-quests (and that bad main quest) were 5s/4s and others straight out 8s/9s. I’m leaving a 9 score to the whole game, but it could easily become a 10 if they polish the “not exciting enough things” up a bit, rework the RPG elements like gear a tiny more. Waiting for such patch, and hopefully a DLC in which we can play as the other Dominants too.    … Expand

    Final fantasy XVI has a combat reminiscent of Devil May cry but with a game of thrones-like story. The combat may look simple at first but if you try approaching it to be as effective and flashy as you can it can get quite interesting. The story is great. Not the best of the FF franchise but it is up there with the good ones. Graphics are great. The world is beautiful. The music is fantastic.

    A great step in the right direction. XVI makes me excited for the future of the series. The action battle system is great but it would have been much better with elemental damage and stats to add a layer of strategy and differentiate Eikons from one another. The missions design is too MMO'ish for a single player game but overall the game is a gem.

    For me is 9.5 out of 10 however Metacritic doesn’t have 9.5 so I put 10. I haven’t play a good Final Fantasy game since the best last one is Final Fantasy 12, Final Fantasy 7 remake is great as well. But Final Fantasy 16 improve in RPG element into Action RPG style like you don’t have to wait turn by turn which is great. And Clive can use multiple type of summon beast(dominant) and use their skill which is awesome and you really like most of the characters in this game and no annoying character. I mean is an excellent game, you don’t have to listen to the website review and play your own way.… Expand

    Awesome game, reminds me of the old final fantasies (1-6), but with an amazing combat system.
    Superb music, very good storytelling and sometimes jawdropping in the graphics. I haven't been this addicted to a game in a long time!
    Deffo one of my all-time favourites now after finishing it.

    I think it’s safe to say that this is the break though game for the final fantasy franchise that will bring the new generation into the franchise , absolutely amazing soundtrack, gameplay, and story, there are a couple nit picks I can say but nothing that overshadows the greatness that this game brings, and more than all it’s just fun as hell to play!     GOTY for me. It's everything I ever wanted in a Final Fantasy game + more. Other than 14 the last mainline title I enjoyed and really loved was 12. This game has exceeded my expectations and keeps me on the edge of my seat during tense cutscenes. Boss fights are INSANE.

    This game is awesome! I love the battle system, it's clean smooth and responsive. It does not overly punish mistakes and there are accessories available for those that are not as skilled at action combat. Although it is not a traditional turn based game that does not detract from the game. The story pulls you in and keeps you interested.     Despite haters, the game brings a lot of excitement. I'm with 12 hours playtime, the music its the best part.
    I hope this game gets the audience that it deserves, its very well made.

    Everything in Final Fantasy XVI is so near at perfection, its really no wonder that this game has such a huge fanbase and is so highly rated among players and critics

    It perfectly retains the "Final Fantasy" feel. The world, the story, larger-than-life spectacle. Absolutely breathtaking.
    Though, it may not be turn-based, it doesn't matter at all. The combat is a blast.

    Combat is rather fun! Add that to the fantastic idea of giving the player rings for areas of combat that are more difficult, and it makes the game accessible to anyone. Feels too easy, or want more of a challenge? Take those easy rings off for different accessories that help deal more damage or reduce cool down times. It can add so much more depth to the combat mechanics! And for those who have played FFXIV, you will end up seeing some similar boss mechanics in boss fights here too.    … Expand

    I didn't pay attention to this game at all before if launched and went in completely blind. Finished it last night and can safely say that this was one of the most incredible video game experiences I've ever had. I finished all of the side quest, all of the hunts, which is not something I typically do in an RPG but I just didn't want the game to end. La grafica è piacevole, da il meglio di se durante gli scontri e le boss fight, dove c'è una quantità enorme di effetti di luce e particelle su schermo che riescono a mettere in difficoltà il frame rate facendolo scendere anche sotto i 30 fps.
    La trama è ben scritta, in alcune fasi è veramente emozionante e ti lascia a bocca aperta. La storia, comunque, viene spesso interrotta da missioni di minore importanza, che servono ad allungare un pò di più il gioco e alcune di esse sembrano essere un pò noiose e poco interessanti.
    Il gameplay e i combattimenti sono molto divertenti anche se la gestione dell'inventario e le abilità non sono granchè, alcuni oggetti sono inutili e i guill servono solo, per la maggior parte, a comprare le pozioni.
    La cosa che mi ha impressionato più di tutto sono le Boss fight, delle vere e proprie sequenze cinematografiche, il tutto accompagnato da una colonna sonora da pelle d'oca.
    Concludendo, nonostante sia il mio primo Final Fantasy, mi ha lasciato senza parole, la storia principale è un capolavoro, è una delle più belle che mi son goduto negli ultimi anni, e a me, soggettivamente, è quello che conta di più in un videogioco insieme al gameplay. Perciò si merita un bel 9, poteva raggiungere la perfezione ma purtroppo ha anche vari difetti. Diventa così, il mio primo Final Fantasy, uno dei miei giochi preferiti di questa generazione, tant'è che l'ho dovuto rigiocare una seconda volta.    … Expand

Tuve +80 horas de juego sin bugs o problemas técnicos que te rompan la experiencia de juego. 8. Personajes memorables. Mención especial al protagonista. Uno de los protagonistas con mayor carisma de un Final Fantasy. Puntos negativos del juego:
    1. Algunas secundarias son aburridas e insulsas (sin una historia decente o un premio bueno que te motive a hacerlas). 2. Para los sibaritas de Final Fantasy este juego puede parecer algo simple al no luchar tan tácticamente como en anteriores juegos de la saga (usar escudos, hechizos que te protejan o curen del veneno, hielo, etc). Que se note las ventajas y desventajas de usar X elemento en las magias tanto tu personaje como los aliados y enemigos. 3. Muy simple en contenido RPG (falta más variedad de armas, equipos, algunos trajes para vestir a nuestro protagonista y que ojalá tuviesen una habilidad también, etc). 4. La historia tiene algunos bajones puntuales. 5. El juego a pesar que tiene partes que impactan visualmente hablando, tiene también lugares que técnicamente son discretos sin llegar a impresionar.

    Estamos ante un excelente juego. Animo tanto a los fans y gente que nunca ha probado un Final Fantasy ha jugarlo. No lo recomiendo para esa gente que odia los juegos con mucha narrativa y lore. Gente que busca diversión instantánea sin diálogos, sin cinemáticas, sin una buena historia. Aquellos que prefieren algo simple y directo. Final Fantasy no es para ustedes. En cambio las personas que deseen una buena historia, acompañada de una excelente jugabilidad con una banda sonora increíble. Esta más que recomendado Final Fantasy XVI.    … Expand

    I can point to several spots in the game where the pacing is abysmal. With that being said, the game is still a 10/10. Best story in the series.

    Warning: don't go into the game playing the comparison game in your head. Enjoy it for what it is - a modern classic with some of the best fighting, world building, and emotional storytelling in gaming history.

    Hidden bosses
    Challenging side quests or dungeons to find ultimate weapons Character customization BUT, the story, soundtrack, and overall feeling that the game left me with after I finished the game more than made up for the negative things.    The side quests were boring and repetitive, map exploration was non-existent, and I missed some aspects of previous Final Fantasy games such:

    Character customization

    BUT, the story, soundtrack, and overall feeling that the game left me with after I finished the game more than made up for the negative things.     To be honest I think this game can be worthy of a 9 or higher, but there are some things that hold it back from being better. Overall, the story, music, and visuals were all good. All the side quests were good and really added a lot more depth to all the characters and the world of Valisthea. I find them repeating the exact same points and lines throughout the story multiple times, especially if you do all the side quest stuff and read all the letters. For example, Jill said the word together over a dozen times and Clive had to explain this new world idea just as much. Cid and his daughter Mid I found to be my favorite characters, while Clive, Jill, and Joshua seemed a little stale and lacked any interesting character traits (just felt like they were always too emotional). Where the game really lacks however is the customizations, it’s pretty pathetic how little you can gather, collect, and customize in this game. You have 3 gear slots that just stat boost you a little each time you get something new, only the sword is ever a visual customization with no special powers of any kind ever. I crafted the most powerful sword you can get (excluding the final fantasy mode), and it looks exactly the same as the previous sword, seriously! And you can only equip 3 items (out of almost 50) that slightly boost your stats and only rarely give you a special ability. The combat was fun overall, and the ability tree was nice, however I feel like it did not offer much variety in terms of bosses (fought the same ones multiple times) and no elemental weaknesses infused. The Eikon fights were very fun and epic though. I just don’t understand why there were never better rewards or loot to chase in the game. You were stuck with the same outfit for the entire game, nor could you customize your party members in any way. There was little to no dialogue with party members as you were running around side questing, which was a bummer, you would have to occasionally turn around to acknowledge they existed (except for your wolf Torgol). So, I have to say it is good, but not great. Still totally worth playing or at least trying.… Expand

    One of the most emblematic sagas in the videogames industry, has risen from the ashes with this new installment, Final Fantasy XVI. My time and experience with the game has been an amazing roller coaster of emotions. Presenting a very accurate narrative and storytelling to levels of a high-films productions. A story that hooks you into, wanting to know more about the characters, the world, the environment, their actions, everything, all of this presented in cutting-edge, crispy and crystal-clear visuals. By moving even away from their traditional combat system, FFXVI brings us a much more real time system, with different skills that you get during the course of the game, that allow you to make incredible combos later on, combos, that you wont be able to put the controller down. Following up the combat, FFXVI has the most adrenaline inducing boss fights EVER, created in the series. A bit downpoint is of course the lack of the classic party-member system, but, i think its just because for the sake of the story flow, but there are some members that help you during the course of the game. The epic soundtrack is composed by the great Masayoshi Soken. Every battle, every scenario, every part of the story, has epic orchestral pieces, which is, in short, a delicacy for our ears.     Insane game. I'm on my second playthrough now, and it's so much fun.

    Not familiar with Final Fantasy much besides XV and the remake for 7 and this blows both out of the water. Play it!

    Final Fantasy XVI is an excellent game in every way. If you're a fan of the series for the stories and characters, you won't go wrong here, and if you've avoided the series for, say, turn-based combat, the sixteenth installment offers the perfect opportunity to get started with this legend of the gaming industry.     This is a solid RPG/action game. Some elements of the game are unusual and fresh for single-player parts of the Final Fantasy series, but some are too dull and rudimentary.

    New numbered FFs are good again. Stunning to look at, with new, punchy combat, and a great yarn, it is, if anything, too focussed, lacking a bit of the weird. [Issue#30, p.78]
