The story is good in my opinion and even though the ending is divisive, I liked it personally and I think that it's too early to criticize it.
The characters are some of the most engaging and likable characters I've seen in a while, and even some minor side-characters surprised me a lot.
The combat system is excellent! It's like a combination of Hack 'n' Slash & Turn Based at the same time, there are 4 completely different party members to control, tons of different skills, items and builds to use, it's deep and organic, it feels awesome and it looks phenomenal! The RPG elements are executed well and the Materia system is just wonderful.
The bosses are some of the best I've ever encountered in a videogame.
The music is fantastic for sure and it fits the visuals perfectly, and the visuals are breathtaking; the lighting, the animations, the textures and the setting are some of the best I've seen in a while.
Also, the set pieces and the visual representation are absolutely top-tier! Some cutscenes look like they are out of a CGI movie and there are so many jaw-dropping moments.
Lastly, the Intergrade version includes the INTERmission DLC, which is a cool addition to get to know an upcoming character for the Remake series.
I do have few minor complaints with the game though; some chapters feel significantly longer than they should've been, and the side-quests are uninteresting for the most part.

    Pros:
    + Interesting story
    + Awesome characters
    + Flawless gameplay
+ Incredible music & boss fights
    + Absolutely gorgeous visuals
    + Outstanding set pieces
    + DLC

    Cons:
    - Pacing issues in some instances
    - Weak side-quests

Final Fantasy VII Remake isn't just a masterfully crafted Remake, but it's undoubtedly one of my favorite games on the PS4 and PS5, and one of the best videogame experiences I've ever had.

    Do I recommend it?:
Yes, to both fans and newcomers.

One of the best gaming experiences I have ever had and now my favourite Final Fantasy game, they went above and beyond what people asked for in this remake and decided to take the story in a direction that is very risky but very well executed. If you are a fan of Final Fantasy or RPGs in general you owe it to yourself to play this game.

Phenomenal Remake that improves pretty much every aspect from the original. Of course it's not full remake, but that's actually good thing, because with 3 parts, they can improve and expand the game so much.

Love love love FF7 remake. First I played it on PS4 then again PS5 with DLC which I also love. I usually wouldn’t speak about the 0-4 reviews but here, c’mon.. look at the game itself, just stand still in Midgar and look. Is worth a 5 at least just for how pretty is is. But as a new player, it is really good, one of the best cinematic games for a long long time, the characters are great, the gameplay is just enough customisation and things, there were really sad parts really funny parts. And despite what some may say, this is a full game in its own right well worth the price. This game is great, I can’t wait for the sequel.

Even better than the original version. Don't expect to play the same thing you played on your PSX. It's an entire new game. Is something like a reboot and a remake at the same time. The only thing that keeps me out of giving it a 10/10 it's the difficult settings. The game is pretty hard, even on situations that needs to push you forward, and not to retain you on that level.

That's how you remake a game! You expand it, add to it, make characters more interesting and deeper, amazing voice acting from whole cast and then you make it a trilogy. What's better than one FF7Remake? How about three? Can't wait for the sequel.

Its a flawed experience, but if you make it to the end, it's worth it. In addition, why the sector 7 slums again? Midgar has 8 sectors total, and the first part of the remake was to expand on Midgar, so why reuse the same sector when they had a golden opportunity to showcase a new sector containing an avalanche cell? This makes the new stuff introduced in the DLC seem out of place.

It's very unfortunate that I cannot enter seventh heaven, but the way they do it is annoying; rather than putting a simple 'closed' sign followed by locking the door, they instead make a whisper repel you from the door if you try to enter it! Nero looks just as ridiculous as he did in Dirge of Cerberus, but the thing that gets me is you would expect to see the muscles move around his mouth when speaking and perhaps hear a muffle in his voice with that BDSM mask he wears, and he doesn't, which translates poorly on the PS5. And the way the new character Shields Yuffie, such as when she rides the train or has to protect her from harm looks VERY creepy; in the western U.S., this guy would have been assaulted or worse for looking like a human trafficker, or because of Yuffie's age, a pedo, and that's disgusting!

I am also not fond of being unable to entirely control the new character and worry that this limited control will set a dangerous trend in later installments. Oh sure, you can issue commands and sync up your moments, but I enjoyed it less than having 2 or 3 party members because it feels like im in a party of 1 1/2 characters at best. This trend of limiting who you can control in your party combined with the trend of no choice in party members from the previous game will end up dampening the combat experience and parts of the story if it continues.

However, there are pros in this DLC: Midgar looks better than it has in the past, I didn't notice any low-res textures that plagued the PS4 release; it doesn't mean they were there, but if they were, I didn't notice them. The new areas are nice to explore. Fort Condor is a definite improvement over the original, even though I didn't really care much for the improvement. It's also nice to run into familiar characters both original and new in the sector 7 slums, even if it seems a bit out of place for them to be there. Despite the somewhat predictable nature of the DLC, it is presented in a way that is satisfying to experience. The most valuable piece of the DLC is the ending, by far. Though I would have rewritten a piece to better reflect Yuffie's growth, its absolutely satisfying for all involved. No spoilers here, you have to play it and beat it in the 5-7 hours the DLC takes and experience it for yourself! I will mention that because of the value of the ending, this DLC will not age well when part 2 is released.

If you have a PS5 and don't mind spending $20 for something that has somewhat low replayability, I would say get it and play it at least once before part 2 comes out. If not, I wouldn't go overboard getting a PS5 just for this unless your a die-hard FF7 fan or god forbid you don't even have a PS4.

Original was fantastic game in 1997, but it's obvious that it needed and deserved well made upgrade and that's exactly what this first part of the remake trilogy is. While this game's visuals and technical quality carry over from the original, so do the original deficiencies. Not only does it flows over, but it's heightened here because this 4-6 hour add-on is a rip-off for the asking price of $20.

I made the argument with the original that Square Enix really wanted to turn the remake game into an interactive movie, and that's full-on display with Intermission. The actual game mechanics here in intermission are a redundant, pointless addition. Combat in ff7r, on the whole, is redundant. None of it adds anything to the package that Square Enix made here.

Controlling characters from one objective to the next could be reduced by half and instead be infused into narrative cutscenes, and nothing would be lost. Having Yuffie play Fort Condor against other people was boring and redundant and could have just been a narrative cutscene, and nothing would have been lost. Even the majority of exploring the Shinra HQ could have easily been filled in by having cutscenes, and nothing would have changed.

And that's the biggest problem with the project; so much of the game has a "Game" forced into a story-driven retelling. And it's here solely because if they had made this into an episodic interactive movie, the base would have flipped out. But instead of trying to make their vision into a game, they stubbornly went forward with their initial idea and jammed in a half-baked "Game."

Intermission suffers immensely from this hamfisting the stilted game mechanics from the base while reusing an absurd amount of assets and then charging you $20 for the privilege!

Does Yuffie's chapter add anything? Combat and game-wise? Nothing. Narratively? Plenty, but in the actual campaign and the ending scenes. But was that worth the cost you had to pay? Not even close. This should have been FREE for owners of the deluxe edition and at a maximum of $5 for everyone else. This chapter effectively turned a $60 game into an $80 game, and nothing about it warrants the cost.

This doesn't bode well for the series, as the rest will obviously have to follow suit (as this is a singular game). I wish Square would admit they really don't care about making video games and instead go ahead and start focusing on their real vision of user-controlled interactive movies. This middle-of-the-road approach hampers everything.

The game itself is great, but not worth releasing on its own for full price. The PS5 upgrade is free and the DLC is $20. I've often seen the PS4 version as low as $30, so this really shouldn't be more than $50. The new content is kinda minimal. Just some new cutscenes with the crew and pretty much everything else is Yuffie. If you don't like her, this really isn't worth it.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a complete package, telling the story of Midgar from two different perspectives. Both the main campaign following Cloud and his journey, and Yuffie's own adventure, are well told with tight and responsive gameplay along with an impressive graphical update. These tales each leave exciting questions to be answered, and this reviewer can't wait to see what awaits Cloud and his friends beyond the City of Mako.
